Title: Banners/Scarves/in honor of Paolo
Post by: 02hodgsol on Saturday, December 29, 2012, 22:08:10
So, I was looking at pictures of away games - mainly bradford, aldershot and gills and a few home games, and been thinking, where have all the scarfe displays, and banners and everything gone from the end of last year!? Wheres that togetherness, loudness, support gone!?
If we remember the tranmere game, villa, stoke away, shef utd home, the fans were really loud, and on the pitch the players responded...if the scarves, banners, brings togetherness and louder support then shouldnt we do it more often?

Any suggestions?!

Also, I know the anniversary of Paolo's Dads death has gone already, but we could possibly do a standingovation/scarf raise in an upcoming game in memory of his mum/dad?
any suggestions/comments?

I was thinking the same at the end of the Tranmere game when Paolo came out with the scarf above the head that we should try and resurrect the holding scarves above the head when the team comes out and at the end if we win. Aldershot away and Port Vale game looked superb .

Lack of loud/coherent singing of Wise Men Say is a bit dissapointing at the start of games to...

Scarves out, if you love Swindon.

guess, a message to "swindon town fans" page/forum posts/ official tweets etc is the way to try to get more fans to be louder/wear colours etc...

Regarding PDC's parents... I can't think of anything more patronising, insincere and cringeworthy as a bunch of football fans trying to orchestrate some terrace tribute to 2 people none of them had ever met and that had absolutely no connection with the club whatsoever. Sorry.

It went when the King of Pop died and Talk Talk decided to join Yvette on Ghost Hunters.

Whilst the whole scarf thing at Aldershot looked fooking brilliant, it was a bit weird.

Pre-Match applauses or silences should be for prominent ex mangers/players only and never for relatives, dogs, goldfish, etc

I find it a bit morbid to be honest.

Make it a condition of entry to the CG that everyone has to have had least 6 pints beforehand.

There should be breathalysers at all turnstiles which, if anyone passes, they are denied entry

Agree with the last comments re PDC's parents, let it go!!  However, I think a show of scarves, banners etc. when the team comes out - expecially just before kick-off - is a good idea, anything to get an atmosphere going after the crap music that is played before games is a good idea in my book.

I was in the Arkells for the Tranmere game Courtesy of Sonic, who couldn't be arsed to take up his sponsor's suite tickets and Flash, who organised it).
At the end of the game, when PdC came on the pitch, the sight of the DRS with scarves aloft was very impressive. Also, the noise from the DRS, Town End and even the Arkells seemed much louder than when I'm in my usual seat in the DRS. Maybe it's an acoustics thing?

It was louder than usual Herthab...the team performance that night inspired the crowd to new noise levels!
Brilliant in the Town End.

Christmas cheer certainly helped. Great move, moving it to Friday night. As someone said on page 1, folks should be half cut upon entering the ground!

It was louder because everyone was pissed. Fully support the compulsory pre-match drinking.

It was very pleasant. Much more civilised than mixing with the hoi poloi. The cushioned seats were an added bonus.

Sounds like a load of self righteous bullshit to me and a bit of an insult to the fans that do home and away every week and already sing their hearts out for the team, but each to their own.

Everyone should still be tanked up from the night before on New Years Day, and the fact Pompey will bring a few...should be another good atmosphere on Tuesday!

The other alternative is that everyone will be hungover and feel like shit.  I always struggle with games on New Years Day and the earlier kick off won't help.

Jesus, didn't know about that - that could've been doubly worse. Dragging my sorry arse to the CG to find it started an hour earlier, would've been a touch annoying.

I reckon a few haven't picked up on the 2pm KO, my mate a ST holder said he was would be meeting me up at the normal 12pm. Was suprised he wanted to miss out on an hours drinking time but it was just that he thought it was the usual 3pm KO. Now meeting at 11am so all good.

Looks like they have sold out the ~1000 Arkells as early as 18 Dec, but the rest are pay on the day
