As I understand it he is the one that the club uses to do all transfer business though, the player get's identified with the help of Phil Spencer's contacts, he makes contact with the club and then player has his 'chat' with Paolo and Wray & Spencer are involved in negotiations to sign the player agree fee and wages

Somehow doubt all the 500km goes to him. Players would have their own agents that need paying.

Back to the original point re: good relationship with Wray - this was probably one of the reasons PdC signed a contract extension.

I'm sure his real role is interpreter between our board and other agents, as none of our nicely brought up chaps speaks fluent Geezer.

I don't actually think there are that many Chairmen around who could actually have a productive relationship with Di Canio. You can take out at least, say 30, just down to the fact that they would have no kind of budget for him to work with. You could then take out a good few more who he would last probably about 10 minutes with (Milan Mandric springs to mind). Of the ones left, I don't reckon many have the interpersonal skills of Jeremy Wray.
