Title: England v Italy Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 15:48:50 Seems like the Euros were ages ago now, but the WC qualifiers will soon be upon us so this is the first chance for Woy, to really stamp his own mark on the side.
Bizarrely and seemingly fittingly tonight's match is being played in the Wankdorf Stadium, in Switzerland. First impressions are that increasingly Woy will have to pick players who don't get into their club sides. I know a few young uns are getting a game and Jack Butland is swapping Whaddon Road for something a little bigger. Should be interesting, for us dwindling band of TEFers interested in the national side. Oh and will be interesting to see what Italy are up to post Euro 12. Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: walcot red on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 15:50:42 I'll give this game a miss tonight, I reckon Italy will win tonight. 2-1, definatly need to something watch something other then sport at the moment.

Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: reeves4england on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 16:59:59 Not seen what sort of side Italy are putting out. Will be interesting to see how we get on with so many new/newish faces in the squad and lots of big names not playing.
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Coca Fola on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 17:04:33 You going? It's in Llanelli so no. If it was Cardiff or Swansea I would have done.Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 17:12:20 What, wait. This is on tonight?
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: reeves4england on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 17:13:05 What, wait. This is on tonight? Correct Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 17:15:01 oooh. Might have a gander.
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 17:18:09 It's in Llanelli so no. If it was Cardiff or Swansea I would have done. Llanelli is only about 30 minutes away from Swansea. Part-timer ;) Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 19:11:20 Anyone else noticing the super imposed ads around the pitch?
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: fatbasher on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 20:05:57 Llanelli use the Scarlets ground which is on the retail park, parc Trostre. A smaller version of the Liberty Staduim, which is not that amazing as this was built by the same company. I used to saty in the premier inn a few hundred yards away regularly until recently. I watched Llanelli play Motherwell in a preliminary round of the UEFA cup about three years ago.
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: walcot red on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 20:19:10 Why is the match being played in Switzerland?
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Batch on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 20:33:46 Anyone else noticing the super imposed ads around the pitch? Bloody odd isn't it. Every time the switch to a different camera angle you see the proper ad boards. Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: axs on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 20:34:27 Anyone else noticing the super imposed ads around the pitch? Yes, really annoying they seemed to turn them of after 20 mins but they're back again second half. Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Kinky Tom on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 20:35:37 pick that one out

They look like Poland Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 20:54:59 Steady performance.
Definitely improved after Carroll & Young went off. Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Bennett on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 21:02:21 carrick looked good! (which is a sentence i didn't think i'd ever say)
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: reeves4england on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 21:31:58 Don't get people's problem with Carrick - he's been an important part of a United side who've been winning things. Good player.
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 21:36:04 Don't get people's problem with Carrick - he's been an important part of a United side who've been winning things. Good player. He doesn't run around like a headless chicken, which is the pre-requisite for many fans. I thought England improved when there were 2 of our former loanees on at the same time. Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Bennett on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 21:40:25 carrick isn't a good defensive player, or a particularly great offensive player. in my opinion he's effectively ballast, apart from today. well done him
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Paolo69 on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 21:45:24 Carrick isn't exactly dynamic on the world stage but must be doing something right to still be in Fergie's good books after all these years. He's not as bad as some people claim that's for sure.
Still like to remember him from his brief loan spell at our place. Was the best player on the pitch even when we got humbled at Maine Road. Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 22:18:01 Defoe can strike a ball. Should have played more minutes for England over the years.
Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 23:04:45 The fact that the stadium was fucking empty and that this thread has reached a whole two pages says it all I think.
Didn't bother watching the game, only had half an eye on it in the pub so can't comment on the actual game... Title: Re: England v Italy Post by: Bennett on Thursday, August 16, 2012, 06:18:37 Defoe can strike a ball. Didn't bother watching the game, only had half an eye on it in the pub so can't comment on the actual game... Still a bigger crowd than what Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland got.
