Looking to take the family to the med next year, any good suggestions for one weeks all inclusive? Preferably cheap  :)

Are you sure that your family want to go with you? Surely they'll be sick of helping you open those family sized packs of kellogs cereal that you probably get in these places!

Must confess it was a flippant remark and one has very little experience of holiday's to the med.

What I should have said was.....

Instead of following the working man's stereotypical holiday of an all inclusive jobby, because it's what working men and chavs do (and it's what you're supposed to do on a budget), why not try to look for ways to make your money go further. Look for cheap flights and deals on accommodation separately, be willing to stay 20 minutes or so from the beach, and you could find a much more fulfilling holiday for everybody. Try looking for alternative places where the crowds don't go.... or something

Just because you may be on a budget, doesn't mean you have to be a sheep like the rest of the chavs.

Having said that, I know nothing about cheap holidays to the Med so it may not be possible.

You get some good all inclusive deals for Egypt, not the med, but red sea's just as nice.

Who cares about 'class'? We went on an all inclusive holiday to the Rui Palace in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, thanks to the in laws subbing us - as we wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. Had a great time, whether we were surrounded by upper, middle, working class I don't know or care. Great holiday. 

Who cares about class? Probably people without any.

Call in to Thompsons/First Choice as they are now solely all inclusive on package holidays.  Have been on several of their all-inclusive deals in the past ten years and have hd no real complaints about any of them.  Have booked next year's holiday to Mexico already.

For me an all inclusive isn't a 'holiday'. I'd rather get out of the hotel and explore tasting local cuisine.

All-inclusive was cheaper than S/C when I booked to go to Bulgaria this summer. I'll be milking the free (local) beer and snacks whilst tanning round the pool on the lazy days, but will be going for weird local stuff on days out/every evening. It was so cheap (booked flights and hotel separate) that it ticks all the boxes for me on a student/unemployed budget!

I've never been on an all inclusive so not sure how it works. Isn't it all 'buffet' style meals?

Went to Egypt this year on an all-inclusive deal. Food was ok and plentiful, but we also went out most evenings, as well as doing a load of excursions (Quad biking, star gazing in the Sinai desert and a whole day on a yacht, stopping at the best snorkelling sites). Fantastic holiday and I'll definitely do it again.

If I was still single, I'd still do an all-inclusive deal. Just pick the cheapest hotel I could find, a budget airline and blow loads of spending money on what's important for me, which isn't the size of the room, or the quality of the food. Anyone going to Sharm el Sheikh, if you get the chance, go to the public beach at Sharks bay. For an entry fee of £2.50 you get a sunbed and some of the best coral and fish anywhere around the Red Sea, all straight from the jetty.

We always do all inclusive for this exact reason.  Saves a fortune on snacks, drinks and ice creams etc.  Clearly that makes us chavs as well!

Any of the balearic islands are good for families or the canaries.  It works out far cheaper if you book flights and the hotel ourself rather than going through a tour operator.  Majorca and Ibiza tend to be the cheapest for flights.

I find all inc convenient as you don't have to worry about whether you enough money for food, you can use all the money you take with you on days out and souvenirs etc. It is nice to eat out. But since most of the countries use the Euro it's gotten more expensive.

At our in all in Mexico, we had 5 restaurants to choose from and one buffet style. Food was superb as was the drink at the pool side bar, and the choice of spirits in our room was great, if you're into that kind of thing.

And us peasant class chavs don't mind spending a little extra by going out for a few meals off resort site to sample the local hospitality. ;-)

Wish I was working class enough to afford a family holiday to an all exclusive in Mexico or Egypt.

Like I say we were lucky that our in laws are working class scum so they could afford to take us, as at the time we wouldn't have been able to afford it. Actually I doubt we would now with one little one and one on the way.

I'm planning on holidaying later in the year and I think I'll have a butchers at an all inclusive. I don't really drink though, so I can't help thinking I'd save money avoiding all inclusive, anyone know?

I drink very rarely, but you'll defiantly get your monies worth, if the foods nice you can try everything.

On an all inclusive is it literally you can eat and drink whatever and whenever you want or are there 'rules'?

I think the only rules to all inc holiday, are no alcohol for under 16's that was a rule for the place I stayed while in Greece.

Depends on where you go Sippo. Obviously the more you pay the less restrictions there are. The Rui Palace had spirits in the room, free minibar, stocked up twice a day (if needed). One bar was open til 12, another one later. Champagne included - with breakfast if wanted. No restrictions on local/imported produce.

Other resorts (like the one we went to in Hurghada, Egypt, will only supply local spirits as all inclusive, so JD, Smirnoff wouldn't be included. And some charge more for certain restaurants.

We had similar in Cuba. One main buffet style restaurant with 4 or 5 a la carte.


Ours was pretty much whatever and whenever. There was a 24hr snack bar that served food & drink.

It was 10 years ago but I went to Blackpool on my stag weekend. We went to a lapdance club that had Iron Bru on tap. Classy.

Went to Tunisia last year all inc and that was fairly cheap, catered for children and is still the Med.

Bet it won't have irn-bru on tap though

If you dress those holidays up as some kind of Arab spring pilgrimage you might just get away with it!!

Had a look at FC website, there is an all inclusive 1 week trip to Ibiza for around £2300. Sorted.
