what with Cech, Van Persie and Ronaldo all letting my dream team down - I need some good performances and some goals from Pique, Alonso and Iniesta

Spain are playing Fabregas upfront, bit of a surprise.

Very interesting side from the Spanish, neither Llorente or Torres starting with Fabregas up front? I guess that he will float about though so they wont have anybody continuously up there. Also playing a RB in Ramos at CB could be exploited somewhat by the Italians

I doubt it, he's played there alot for Madrid this season. He'll slot in quite comfortably.

be interesting to see how they actually line up with 6 midfielders and no strikers!

This is the first game I have been able to watch - quite enjoying it so far.

Spain have no cutting edge. I can see Italy winning this unless Spain put someone up front.

The refs got it in for Balotelli.

Hardly boring. Their movement is so good it doesn't matter. Not like its a negative set up to stifle the oppostion.
Think the game has been decent so far and reckon it will improve further second half. Italy don't look a 16/1 to win it team to me either.

So in the yellow card count Spain are ahead of Italy 4-3.

If England picked up 4 yellows Platini would probably criticise us for spoiling the beautiful game.

Best game so far imo. Torres was utterly shit and its easy to see why Spain started as they did. Probably would have scored if Fabregas pushed up without dropping deeper to get on the ball, instead of bringing on Torres to do that and him going to pieces when he got the ball.

Great game IMO, like a game of chess.  Both of those teams were by far the best we have seen in the tournament so far.

Del Bosque cost them the win with his stupid formation.

i got home from work just gone eleven and turned on the highlights show, ok it was only ,what, 20 minutes worth but those 20 mins were the best exhibition of football i have seen for a very long time.

pirlo's passing, the movement of the spanish, the ball from silva for the goal, italy actually looking to attack - i thoroughly enjoyed watching that and i hope there is more of the same to come from this tournament.

Got fucked off with the commentators harping on about Chelsea vs. Barcelona. It was fuck all like that match, Italy actually tried to play football and had some good spells during the game.

Pirlo's sidestep and pass for Di Natale's goal was class.

Agreed that pissed me off as well, the commentary on the Ireland match as well was woeful.
