League Cup draw next Thursday.  I believe it's the first match this season, before the first league game.  I think that is a better idea.

I'm looking forward to Brentford away because it's about 20 mins from home so no doubt that will be the Boxing Day game when I'm back in Swindon.

I hope we get some northern shithole team away on 23rd August. I have an appointment at the optician at 3:15 and I'd hate to miss a game I could probably get to.

That's a pretty good shout...the FL tries to avoid potential trouble games first up so it's usually some norvern place away, or them to us.  Although we haven't played them in years, I reckon we've opened up there as a first away game a few times.

I hope SONN is getting his trunks packed, he's going to Lake Garda. Perhaps he can take the family this year?

Remember going first game when Sabella scored twice for them.

I've just remembered I have a dentist appointment the week after too.

We've got a good chance of getting a Sky game (or even two) in the first half of the season I would have thought. Sheff Utd home or away, or Portsmouth maybe :sherlock:

I have only one hope - that the Crewe, Shrewsbury and Tranmere away games are not midweek or on dates that clash with family occasions.

I don't get to nearly enough games these days.  This makes me sad.

I concur. Had probably my most eventful away day there back on 09/10. Fell over celebrating a goal and then got chucked off the train on the way back home in Reading. Quality day.

What a horrible august.  Hartlepool, crawley and franchise.  All thats wrong with football.  Apart from hartlepool which is just too far away.

First three fixtures against scummy sides. The last few fixtures could be tricky.

Why are there so many mid week games this year?

The Season is starting later but finishing earlier, but there isn't anything going on next summer to finish early for. Seems weird.

Looking at these fixtures is a Lot more appealing than this time last year. bring it on.

My first thought as well.  Not been to Fratton Park in years.  Big shame.

Evening games are more difficult to get to on time for most but worth it once you get there.

I think I'll be there as well...very easy trip for me.  It's just a shame we're not getting a Saturday 3pm kick off for that one.

Very odd why the league is finishing a week early not only because there is no big tourno or event next summer but the fact that this year starts 2 weeks late because of the Olympics. You would expect the the season to have been extended not shortened further, the midweek games kill lower league teams as the attendances are always lower than equivalent Saturday games .

Orient away on Boxing Day is perfect, don't have to travel too far. Happy with Brentford and Pompey away on Tuesdays as well, nice and easy to get to.

Also glad Bournemouth is on a Saturday, was hoping for a weekend down there.

That's the best Boxing Day fixture for me, well chuffed with that one. Ditto Brentford away on a Tuesday, 10 minutes from work so perfect!

How many times in the last five seasons has our opening and closing games been away from home. >:(

last year i attended southend crawley and aldershot away so 2 out of 3 aint bad

I'm away most of August and a few days of September so I was hoping I would miss loads of shit games and luckily I have. Bit annoyed about missing Preston but I wouldn't have gone to Hartlepool anyway. I'm not too bothered about missing the Crawley and Franchise home games either, two of the least attractive fixtures of the whole season.

It's down to the fact that the Champions League Final is at Wembley again next year. Instead of having the L1 & L2 finals being transferred to Old Trafford, the FL in their infinite wisdom have bought forward the end of the season for these two divisions so they can play the previous weekend, whilst the Championship Final will be played on the Bank Holiday Monday, two days after the CL Final.
