Title: Samsung Galaxy S2
Post by: stfcinbmth on Saturday, June 2, 2012, 08:00:03
My contract with o2 expires around 24th August. Looking for one of the above on a 12 month contract, 300 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data

The only one I can find is this one from Phones4u

http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_contract_details.asp?ItemKey=519740&MPItemKey=541660&NetKey=2#offer_details

So what's the deal with places like Phones4u, how do they make their money, why can't I get the same deal from Vodafone and what's the catch if any?

A few questions there for you to get your teeth into

Im looking at exactly the same phone/contract. Its about £10 cheaper a month on there than it is on the Vodafone website.
In answer to your questions though, I have no idea :D

Just gone through them for a Galaxy S3 on Orange (when the retards actually validate my sim, cunts) and although it was the same price as direct through Orange per month, the phone was free, instead of the £50 Orange wanted, plus a free 32gb micro SD card and a £30 hard case. fuck knows how they make their money, but it works for me!

This advert rules me out of the range. Really? No way!

So you can recommend them Leggett? My plan is the S2 for 12 months then upgrade to the S3 at the end of the 12 months when it's come down in price

If I was to try to get O2 to match the Phones 4U deal would it best to phone them?

I've got them to price match by going in store.

Thanks Sam, not sure they will do that, bearing in mind it's a free phone and 12 month contract, plus my contract isn't up with them until 23rd August, they've quoted me £42.20 ish to terminate it

Si, do you know if they do the same deals in store as they do online?

They should do.

Also take an old phone with you as they often have trade in deals. I traded in a 5 year old phone last time and got £100 in cash there and then.

Pretty good deal then. Will pop down their shop in a mo, to see if they have the deal. Still got to get my Pac from O2 tho

That was a one-weekend deal so you do have to be lucky.

But you can haggle in shops like that anyway.

They wouldn't do the same deal I'm afraid

As the one on the internet?

To be honest you'd probably do better getting the SIII on a 2 year deal instead. This one here is £10 cheaper a month which means you're going to save £240 over the course of 2 years.

http://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S3/T-Mobile/T-Mobile-26-(24mths)-Medium-Internet/13732533

Obviously you wouldn't have an SII to trade in after 12 months though, that's probably only going to be worth £100 maximum in 12 months time anyway.

Yeah, they wouldn't match the net deal. I don't want to be tied into another 2 year deal it's much too long, will get the S3 at the end of this 1 year

Can't you order it online? If you use Quidco you'll get £50 too.

Yeah I will Si, will have to get my pac code from O2 tomorrow as retentions team shuts up shop at 6pm. Quidco, yes I do, never thought of checking, if I get 50 notes out of it I'll owe you a beer  ;)

Inclined to agree. Must admit I have noticed he always turns up when the deal has been sorted

Be careful with buymobilephones.net, they'll charge you if you change your tarrif within a certain period of time. It's buried in the small print of the contract.

I'd be wary of Phones4U.
Had a contract deal with them once for my daughter - one of the deals where they promised cashback after 6 months that you had to claim.
When I claimed, despite repeated follow-up,s they just ignored all correspondence.  I gave up in the end which is what they must have banked on.

I don't trust claim back deals for this reason.

I got an extra phone which worked out free through claim backs but I never received the forms. BY the time I got the form and sent it back for the first claim back it was too late. I complained over the phone and they gave me the total claim back all in one go. So P4U redeemed themselves.

I've been screwed over by O2 and Orange before and only P4U have been able to sort anything out for me. I make them work for their commission and in my experience they have always done a decent job.

The cashback is through Quidco so could be months before I see it anyhow, by then I'll have forgotten about it

Title: Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

Cheltred means the ones where the monthly cost is a lot, but you send off your bills to P4U and claim back a proportion every few months. Obviously (and rightly) aggrieved with the customer service.

As long as your phone is delivered and works fine you'll be ok :)

I can guarantee I won't be in when it's delivered. More worried about the pac going smoothly. Won't be flogging the Desire for the first few months anyhow
