I actually heard a rumour that the away kit was Yellow and Blue. Personally think that the rumour is bollocks though.

the new away kit is blue and has a yellow stripe across where fifa 13 is on the shirt, and this is defo as we met the samsung representative on the train on the way back from the bristol rovers game and he said it looks very nice but its NOTHING like a oxford kit!

The Hamburg away shirt is the only one they do with a stripe across the sponsors logo. Perhaps something like this then (with different colours)

I'm guessing it will be like the swansea away kit, but cannot for the life of me see it being blue and yellow.

Yes I agree with you, although using the colours yellow and blue will almost certainly put off a lot of our fans, whatever the style of shirt.

It was, like the Brazil strip.

Shame we didn't really play like Brazil, although traditionally Brazil can't defend so I guess we did our best!

I had the yellow kit as an 11/12 year old. We used it the season after the Prem too (along with the white with red pin stripes)... not a lucky kit for us.

But what about the kit we have been discussing from 1993-95? Our last yellow away kit.

That's more 'Brazil' than 'Oxford'.

It's yellow and light blue with green.

The 80's kits are very Oxford esque. Apparently like our new away shirt.

For my last birthday, my mates went to the trouble of sourcing an original vintage Oxford away shirt for me. Trouble is, its this one:

http://www.oxkits.co.uk/80s/oufc%20shirt%201989-90%20away%202%20DP.JPG

I thought they'd been mugged off originally, but looked it up and was surprised to find that we did play in red from time to time. Had it 6 months but haven't worn it yet, it just doesn't feel right to wear a red Oxford shirt.

I've still got my potato print shirt somewhere.

Remember us doing very well in it at Roker Park on a couple of occasions.

I always preferred it when it was worn with white shorts.

I seriously hope the next away kit has no yellow on it. Apart from the Pox associations, yellow is such a piss-awful colour.

At best it's a second-rate rugby league kit.

At worst it's the most disliked colour combination available.

Why, oh why?

Plus our badge always looks a bit cack with other colours. Why can't we have a white shirt, red shorts, etc?

Title: Re: New Kit

Liking the away kit, feared there would be more yellow on it than that. Big difference between that and the Oxford kit, stylish design with Boca colours. Despite what I said about a yellow and blue kit before, I will probably be buying that. There is a big difference between Yellow & Blue and Blue & Yellow.

It has our badge on it and that's all that matters, stop worrying about a slight resemblance to an irrelevant team.

What happens if we play Palace, Aldershot or Dagenham (in a cup next season)

What will we wear at Portsmouth?

That away kit is ace, its hardly a carbon copy of the Scum's kit, wrong main colour for a start. Home kit looks smart, keeper's kit is less neon!

Some people think strongly about and won't buy it, some people don't care and will. End of story.

Not sure why the club went for something so obviously controversial though. Seems a bit mad to me. They obviously know the sensitivities that surround kit colour.

The away kit was selling very well prior to the match. I got one also.

The kit is blue with a bit of yellow. We've worn kits with more yellow than that previously.

And what a change to have a new kit this early. I still remember under the Diamond Mike years than we were lucky to get them sometimes in November.

Yes...and yes, even though at £45 I would've expected the badge to be embroidered on.

I don't like anything about the away shirt, but as I won't be buying it, it doesn't really matter.  I like the home one, but it doesn't look very different to this season's?  Didn't kits used to be worn for two seasons?  Why change them every season?  It's a big expense with two young boys.

Especially as the kids' kit prices have sky rocketed since adidas became suppliers. Used to be around 25 quid for kids' kits, now it's 40-odd just for the shirt

3) I can't wait for the home kit, so my lad can have one.
4) I'm giving up on replica tops for me @ 51 I thinks it's time to wear the generic Town polo shirt with the sponsors on, more classy and It can be worn as a casual shirt more readily than the replica shirt.

I don't wear replica shirts but my teenage son really likes it so I'll be buying him one this week at the charity match. I don't even think it is controversial. I didn't look at it and think "Ooooooh that makes us look like Oxford" (because it clearly doesn't) I just thought "Ooooh, Boca Juniors - that looks quite good".

Spot on OST. I honestly can't see how people think there is any controversy in this kit at all. Unless as you've kind of alluded to, we have some massive historical rivalry with Boca Jrs that I'm not aware of.

Or were people this upset when we had a yellow kit in the 80's and early 90's?

A blue kit with a yellow trim, what's the problem?

Had my signed Paolo shirt done at Chromatic Arts on Rodbourne Road, cost £125 with a club referral discount, if you mention that the club referred you, this is the framers that the club always use for shirt framing, if needs be can send a picture of what my shirt looks like

If you are looking to get a shirt framed I recommend the picture framer in the indoor market in Devizes on Thursdays and Saturdays - he will do them for about £60, and will punch the season season etc out of the mounting card.

He also has a shop in Trowbridge.

I got my lad's shirt framed for £50 by DH Framing www.dhframing.co.uk, did a great job, with insert describing who it was signed by, when etc and very reasonable cost. A full-size adult shirt would probably be a bit more, but not much I'd guess. Thoroughly recommend him (the framer, not my lad)

Can't imagine it being too different from the current kit to be honest. It's the same brand.
If anything though, it looks a tad 'tighter' than this season's kit.
the medium is smaller than the black one, i also find the blue & yellow one to be a bit clingeeeee

I like the current black one. It's a better fit than the home shirt which I find too long.

Binbags.

I was at college with Neil jenkins the Welsh international rugby player. At the student union one night it was fancy dress night, and some girls had come dressed as Toto Coelo, with costumes made of bin bags. Neil was always quite direct, and his first question was "Are you wearing underwear?". When they refused to answer he grabbed a cigarette lighter and tried to light the costumes.

For those too young to remember Toto Coelo....

Adidas Toque 13 Jersey. That will be our template.

Guessing we could have white shorts and shocks with our home kit next season, based on the fact that this seasons socks are reduced in the club shop

A club shop having an end of season sale - who would have thought it?

Well considering we've had the same socks for the last 3 seasons suggest we're having a different design/colour?

Thought you would have the inside track on this?

I would prefer the Adidas Tiro 13 Jersey.

That is quite good.

I actually like the one we've had for the past two seasons (and that's not just because I spent a ton on a new one this season). Nice and plain, not too showy, classic. Plus people always go 'eh?' when they see 'SAMSUNG' printed across a Swindon shirt.

Fuck off with the pringle.

I can't reveal my sources, due to the sensitive nature of their work, but a reliable acquaintance has seen it and told me it's predominantly red. With some white bits.

A lot of previous Boro kits have had chunks of white on them. Wouldn't read too much in to it, their home kit was our away kit this season. So wouldn't be surprised to see the same happen next season. No way our home kit will have that much white.

We don't get the choice of the Championship Adidas kits until the year after, so it's more likely to be Middleboro's shirt from last season.  There are about 5 different designs for each level that the club gets to choose from, which they do around October for the following season.

Looks crap. We play in red, not red and a bit of white.

As stupid as it sounds I loathe the off the shelf kits. Football hits were much better when they were designed for each team.

Hopefully the away one will be better - would love a mid to late 90 inspired black and blue one.

It'll be white - so they can release a 3rd kit which will be blue or black.

I could design a better STFC kit than that!

Indeed. As will be amply demonstrated when a shirt that generically costs £17.99 will be available for sale at £40+ with a badge ironed onto it ;-)

I like it. As I said earlier. Long Sleeve's a bit meh.

I won't be buying a new one though, because I only just bought one last year. Unlike some, I don't feel the need to spend £50 on a shirt every season.

The adidas ones have been the best. I liked how basic they were when we were demoted, like we were going through penance. Last year's (that I'm actually wearing right now) was better because it had Samsung on it instead of Four Four Two. Always confused people as to how we got such a good sponsor.

I'm surprised that grumpy cow in the club shop didn't take redundancy, she obviously loathes her job.

Perhaps she's an oxford fan?

We've had better designs pre Adidas than this. I think I just like a plain red shirt with white trim (that's trim, not blocks of white), white shorts and red socks. Obviously that won't happen anytime soon, as each seasons kit has to be significantly different to entice fans to buy it. If we do ok next season I'll grow to like, if we do shit I'll hate it.

Post by: jonny72 on Friday, June 7, 2013, 19:25:10
I really don't get why they have to keep changing all 3 every season - it can't generate that much extra revenue for the club.

I doubt having a home and change shirt for a few seasons with a new away shirt every year would result in that much less.

I only buy them if they're cheap or really good. Only ones I've paid full price for are the red and black ones posted above. A plain red Adidas shirt with just the three white stripes is the coolest shirt in the world. Fact.

Totally agree but at a guess, I'd guess it's just something that's part of adidas' standard package - you will have 3 new shirts every season, they will be from the following possible templates available to clubs in your band, they will be sold within this price range.

On another note, don't get the bile for the lady who runs the club shop. I go in a few times a season, mainly buying kit for the kids, and I've always found her (and in fact all the staff) very pleasant and helpful. They even smile when I bang on about the cost of kids' shirts/shorts etc (even though I'm sure they've heard it all umpty-nine times already that week and it's probably not within their power to change it anyway).

I think these are the cheaper shirts on the team wear package from adidas. It's not great, but after the last two home kits we were due a bad one.

That bird in the club shop should pull her finger out, I got the impression she was delighted we didn't make it to Wembley so she could have a quiet life.

Plus, they never update the stuff on the shop website, although she posts new stuff on her twitter feed.

How come she gets to choose the kit????

Depends what you mean by a fucking fortune. Say they make £15 a shirt then 10k sold would only make £150k, which I personally wouldn't call a fucking fortune in the grand scheme of things.

But my point is that I'm not sure how much the sales are increased by having 3 new shirts a season as opposed to 1 or 2, I don't think the difference is as much as you might think. Especially when it means a shit design over a classic.

Well if you want a better designed bespoke kit can I suggest you gather together £100-200m of your own money,  get us to the premiership and then sure Adidas will design one.

We are a third division club with a comparatively small/medium fan base,  it's standard designs all the way.

Was it £45 last year or is inflation another fiver? The justification for changing all the kits every year was originally that they would remain cheap. While its great to have Adidas as a brand when we had Strikeforce I could get both shirts for £54. Now that was a bargain!

Personally I made more of an observation that she seems quite grumpy towards customers, which is kind of unprofessional, and coupled with the tweets Tans stuck up, well, that's the impression. Whenever I've been in there that's how it's been. When I bought my shirt last season I remember she seemed to be frustrated and annoyed that I'd ask for a name and number on the back of it. If I'm shelling out £60 on a shirt I'd like my business to be at least slightly appreciated.

I imagine she does that because she loathes her job (as I expect any intelligent person in a retail environment to). Calling her bovine was perhaps slightly out of line.

I think a lot of thre Adidas items in the shop are priced by Adidas so they get told to sell it at x price

In defence of Claire from the club shop I go in there a few times a season and find her quite pleasant, in fact I was in there a few weeks ago with the wife and kids and she was quite happy to have a chat and a laugh.

I would suggest since she has been in charge of the shop then it has always had better items, addmittedly overpriced but as I suspect the same as most football club shops needing to make a profit.

If you're a grown man who gets uppity about buying replica shirt with a name and number on it, there's only one egg who needs to look in the mirror and it ain't her...
Anyone over 16 who buys a replica football shirt full stop needs their head examined. Man up and wear some proper clobber.

What if I bought the shirt before I was 16? 13 years later would it not now be retro and therefore cool again.

Decent cap, Ralph Lauren or Stone Island.

Brand Polo or button shirt, top button done up, again, Ralph Lauren, Stone Island, Aquascutum, Henri Lloyd, Lacoste, Fred Pery etc..

Smart pair of jeans, Levi's or the like.

You're favourite Adidas daps, Gazelles, London's, Koppenhagen's... None of these 'NB' or Fred Perry shite, there is only one trainer, after all.

Top it of with a smart Jacket, A nice Fila matchday, C.P Company Mille Miliga, Stone Island Reflector jacket or even a Barbour International..

And that's just what I do the weekly shop wearing...

Can't stand caps. The only decent cap I can think of is a Dutch Cap, (not a Von Dutch cap) and going by your fashion 'advice' that's what your mum should have worn 18 or so years ago!

An all-white 2nd kit would probably mean a 3rd kit too. Might as well be clever with the design and keep it to two.

It didn't look any different... the biggest change being the ticket office reverting to external windows. And obviously yesterday it was full of 50 year old weirdos wanting to shake hands and chat to Paul Benson.

With regard to the kit, I picked up a long sleeve home shirt for 5-a-side and it's really nice. Although it is just a standard offering with our badge on, it looks better than that and is really lightweight (in a good way). The away kit, I don't like. It looks more like an iron-on badge kit than the home one does, and although that is similar to last seasons 'Boca' offering (which I did like), this one just doesn't 'feel' right to look at for me.
