Title: Australian Grand Prix
Post by: Baggins on Saturday, March 17, 2012, 22:13:42
Could be an interesting race.  Hamilton on pole with Button in 2nd.  Red Bulls are on the third row.  Great performance from Grosjean to get 3rd.

Ferraris completely bombed in qualifying, will be interesting to see how they do in the race and if they can get the problems sorted soon. Good to see the Brits on the front row, and the Red Bulls with some work to do. Hoping for a close-fought, entertaining title race throughout the season!

Agreed - hopefully less predictable than last season.  Looks like Ferrari have a lot of work to do.  The Lotus looks good though - obviously Kimi had a bad day but the car clearly has potential.

Great drive by Jenson, Red Bull's race pace seems very strong.

Should be a great battle between those two this year.

Agree with that, fairly dull race but the prospect of a good season. Doesn't look like there will be a runaway team during the first 6 races like Red Bull and Brawn did in the last few seasons.

Ferrari weren't as slow as qualifying, though if they continue to struggle in quali they'll be punished more than today.

Can't see Massa lasting the season, he has lost all confidence and therefore speed.

 Board testing as in circuitry?

Slightly smaller F1 claims to fame:

A guy I was good friends with at university headed part of McLarens common electrics control module team (ECU and telemetry analysis), a device all cars must use (but was developed by McLaren).

My mate shared a restaurant table with Michael Schumacher and his family a couple of weeks ago.

My father in law made the prototype stylophone.  It wasn't very fast, but still beat a Minardi around Donnington Park.

Only one of the above sentences is true.

Mercedes should be strong in Malaysia with the long straights.. In quali at least. Race pace was a bit below expectations today. Raikkonen looked good too.

I spent 18 months managing the climate control room (where they trim the engines for certain environmental conditions) for Mercedes HPE in Brixworth.

Met Hamilton and his Dad many times.

He's never been the same after that accident.

Very true, although having Alonso as a team mate hasn't helped.

If he's fully recovered I'd put money on him replacing Massa before the seasons out.
