Title: Songs
Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, July 22, 2005, 21:07:46
The selection of music at the County Ground is getting dated, in fact, it's beyond cringeworthy now - so what would you like to see the lads run out to?

I might try using my newfound power to influence the choice of music, worth a shot innit?  :D

Oasis - Acquiesce (we neeeeeeed one another, we belieeeeeeeve in one another)
Kramer - Singing Out For Swindon
Madness - One Step Beyond (I can see the Town End dancing now)
The Jam - The Eton Rifles (hello, hooray, what a nice day for getting beaten 5-0 by Colchester)
Aphex Twin - Green Calx (it'd terrify anyone on acid)
Sonic Youth - The Diamond Sea (19 minutes long you could play it at half time as well)

Okay so the last two suggestions weren't serious 8)

Is that the Oasis track that goes ' what's sleeping in arseholes'?

We should run out to the theme from It ain't half hot mum

Metallica and Drowning Pool at a football match?? Surely not! Might aswell have Genesis and Cradle of Filth while we're at it to add a bit more variety.

Title: Songs
Post by: CARTMAN on Saturday, July 23, 2005, 00:19:32
you need something fast, heavy and loud to stir the blood otherwise you'll be running out to phil collins or celine dion and thats just stupid.
you have to think more towards the first 30 seconds to a minute and a half and those songs do kick ass in that time

Title: Songs
Post by: Tails on Saturday, July 23, 2005, 00:20:46
I know but the chavs will complain. If your gonna do Metallica might aswell do Enter Sandman as that bass drum when it comes in is really pounding.

bugger the chavs  :x
was thinking enter sandman but frantic has a faster intro. besides step up by drowning pool is my personal fav, it rocks  8)

Nice.

My ex loved RHCP and Foo Fighters, that was fine by me. Though she did have an unhealthy obsession of dave grohl which was slightly annoying.

my ex was into eminem and all that hip-hop nonsence tried to convert her to the good stuff (proper rock music 1960 - 1993 with the exeption of foo fighters and oasis) but theres no helping some people

People like what they like, I'm not too fussy really but I do find hip hop mostly crap. Some of its OK though, can't beat a bit of old skool hip hop.

The mainstream stuff gives it a bad name. Same with a lot of music really.
Sonic Youth aren't too bad either, I used to really like them.

Sonic Youth are probably one of the most creative bands of the last two decades. Thurston Moore is an amazing guitarist as well.

I live in a crappy little village called Bampton.

Madness - One Step Beyond, class choice Sonic.

One Step Beyond

(Hey you, don't watch that,
Watch this!
This is the heavy heavy monster sound
The nutsiest sound around
So if you've come in off the street
And you're beginning to feel the heat
Well listen buster
You'd better to start to move your feet
To the rockin'est, rock-steady beat
Of Madness
One step beyond!)

(One step beyond!...)

Still the Jam for me NMH.

I've got a cassette somewhere titled "No More Heroes" and it's got that and Peaches on, 2 Jam songs, and stuff like The Buzzcocks, Sham 69, Undertones etc. Don't really play cassettes anymore but I like to give that a listen when I can.

Talking about songs to play when the players come out, aren't the speakers totally bobbins at the county ground that you can't hear anything anyway?

Especially at half time when the PA guy is reading out the half time scores. Annoying!

Title: Songs
Post by: Bedford Red on Sunday, July 24, 2005, 11:17:29
Depends where you sit. They used to be crap, totally inaudible.

I used to sit underneath one in the Nationwide and that was too loud.

Music I can normally hear ok, the PA guy needs shooting anyway so not bothered if I can't hear him.

Usually sit in the Nationwide towards the left hand side near the Town End. As you say, totally inaudible! :(

Ocean Colour Scene - The Riverboat Song.
Or some Polyphonic Spree could lift everyones spirits in an amusing way. Maybe Hold Me Now.
Or some Mr Scruff. That would be cool
Or.. no I've ran out of ideas now.

All my life would be good, maybe a live version where the intro goes on for a while.  Just the guitar doing the "duh duh, duh duh duh, duh duh duh...." and then at the end of the matches we win "times like these", be brill that would.
