They beat us 2-0 earlier in the season, but we've obviously improved a fuck load since then and their away form is poor at best.

3-0 win.

If we win this one there is a chance to make ground on one of the top 3, Shrews v Southend, Chelt v Rovers, surely there is a draw in one of those.

3-1 Town

It's all sorted then :) I don't have any kids myself but rumour has it that they take hours to pop out. I think if she's not gone into labour by 12 then your laughing. If by chance littleness decides to slide out faster than a swedish bobsleigh team then you can buy the beers after the game and we can wet the babies head. As I see it = win win situation

Do Macclesfield play hoofball or football? It's pretty windy here today.

Second one! Wife is 34 weeks but started getting contraction yesterday! To be fair it's unlikely to come any time soon but the wife is a bit nervous about it coming early! Might see if she fancies going round my mums while I go to the footie! I don't think she realises this is a big league 2 fixture.

Some website had a table of teams V top half opponents, and another v bottom half opponents. We were mid-table in the latter, which suggests it will not be straightforward.

Macclesfield's away record is:

P 11 W3 D 0 L8 F8 A18.

They don't score many goals. Like Hereford before they came to us..Oh.

We will win 3-1.

Amen, brother.  The gap has to start coming down at some point.  The table has moved in our favour recently, but it's been more about opening up a small gap between the teams below us (ie Jills, Oxford etc.)

About to leave for the pub for a few bevvies and then on to the game. I think we will have a good win today. I would love to see Connell get a goal, that lad deserves a decent run in the team. If Macc are going to park the bus then I think we need to break them down and score early, as soon as we score we should batter them.

Would like to see Kennedy given a run of games personally... especially against (supposedly) weak opposition. Good to see Connell and Benson starting together. Hope that does the trick!

I reckon it's 36.

First half has been very flat, both on and off the pitch.

They have worked hard to close us down & stop us playing.
Have to hope that the work will takes its toll eventually & we can take advantage in the last 30 mins.

At game. Dull half but well on top, they look dire. 40 away fans at most.

Risser had a decent half breaking up their play, but not really out of second gear is a good description.

Let's hope attacking the Town End in the 2nd half might create a bit of atmosphere. If we get at them from the off then it could provide the spark we need.

And for what it's worth, we're now 7 (seven) points ahead of Oxford, and have a game in hand. This gap was brought to you by Michael Duberry.

- Need to use the ball better. Didn't use ball well in 1st half
- Should have scored 4 or 5
- Referee made a mistake when Flint was pushed in back. Referee sent PDC off for body language. He didn't curse or swear. PDC cant change his culture or mannerisms. Wasnt happy that he was punished for it.
- He will keep more calm if he can. But if they send him off every week then - 'So what! My team will still win the league!'
- He's really, really angry about it!!!!!!!
- Complaining that Macc play kick and rush! (Sounds if he did his homework on them as he talked about what he had said to the team in the week.) Was worried about this game because of Macc not being a footballing team.
- Sending off for Macc: Couldn't see what but could see that the lino spotted a foul on Flint.
- PDC wanted someone else to take penalty, but wouldnt say who.
- Rooney: Has no legs at the moment. Needs more strength and power in his legs. They will work with him.
- Boateng: Brings competition for centre half positions. (Sounds as if there is some complacency in the team)
- Constable: PDC wanted him. Deal was done. He wanted to come. Meeting arranged. PDC was on his way to office when Wray phoned to say there was a problem. PDC then decided he didn't want him anymore and they should look elsewhere.
- Other strikers: Been talking to another club. Doesnt know if player wants to come.

- Pleased to set up winner. Pleased for Benson as he ran his socks off vs Rotherham
- Wasn't nervous but more excited
- Felt he should have scored on one on one
- Didn't see what happened for penalty. Saw Flint holding their player up and thought he'd better keep out of it!
- Disappointed he cant play at Leicester. No reason why we cant go therer and get a result

Come off it. We've had loads of tv-radio and press lately. Don't forget we are not massive stories compared to the prem-championship whether we like it or not.
For a league 2 side we do pretty well for coverage i think

The Beeb's Saturday afternoon coverage hardly even mentions the Championship, and that's on a day when the Premier League fixtures are hardly the most attractive in the world

The bias just winds me up arriba, it's like the three other leagues don't exist

Then you also have that AVB twat saying during the week how the Premier League sides should be allowed to play B sides in the Championship. Oh do fuck off, as if they are not doing enough to kill off the other three leagues already. Arrogant cunts the lot of em as far as I'm concerned

Benson:
- Scrappy a fair word. Would have been different if Town had scored early. The longer it went the more Macc had to play for
- Hard fought 1-0. Take a win however it comes.
- Wants to score a goal that isn't lucky! Benson pleased though he was in the right place at right time.
- Massive that we won today. Thought there was a possibility that others may have dropped points, so it was important to win - especially as they have a gap due to the cup
- Thought that the goal wasn't going to come. Team weren't clinical enough and missed chance.
- Got a break in 2nd half although they didnt play well. Rooney gave the team an extra spark
- Nice to go into Leicester game with no pressure on. Will give it a good go, but its the 3rd priority.

That was hard to watch. We didn't play that badly but a few key players (Caddis, Ferry and Ritchie) had quieter days. Ref was a cunt. Crowd were quiet. But 3 points are 3 points so let's move on to the next game.

Most important thing today was getting 3 points so mission achieved there!

Rooney looks as though he's going to be a real bright spark for us 2nd half of the season, quick feet, a threat, a couple of good chances and a great ball in for Benson, who was in the right place at the right time.

Paolo sent off again, not sure why but from where I was seemed a bit harsh?

The gap to the top 3 is now 3 points, and with Southend next up in the league it's a crucial next run of games to try and continue this good form.

Lets enjoy the trip to Leicester next Saturday and hopefully this great season can continue C.O.Y.R

Forgive my language but Rooney reminded me of Joey Beauchamp in the way he runs and shoots.

I thought our first half performance was actually very good, aside from in front of goal. We pressed, passed well and fashioned a few good chances all of which went begging.

Second half was disjointed and more disappointing. But Rooney put the cross in for the goal and that is all that matters. Winning games like this win you promotion.

Reasonable début from Rooney. Looks like he has the skills to pay the bills. Was a little wasteful in his finishing. Set up the winner.

Other than that, god knows what the PDC sending off was about. Flint looked to have stuffed up trying to run the ball out of play. Caddis got booked for moaning about something and I have no idea what they were claiming. Didn't look a foul to me so ??

And the penalty, just saw legs going at each other while Flint was on the floor. Thought they were both going to be sent off, but couldn't see whose legs were whose. There must have been a foul leading into that as it looked like the sending off incident literally kicked off after the ball was dead.

Game On. We're going up as fucking champions.

Not a great performance at all, but we could have gone in at the break 2 or 3 up. Second half was very disjointed with more of our players seeming to have an off day than not.  Macclesfield seemed to have come for the 0-0 and nearly got it.  The sending off of Di. Canio seemed to galvanise the team and the support, as did the introduction of Rooney and finally we got the breakthrough.  3 points when we didn't play well and making ground on those above us is a good afternoon's work.

Special mention to the inconsistently poor referee ably assisted by the equally twatish fourth official.  The Di Canio sending off resulted from Flint being fouled near the goal line, which wasn't given.  It was only due to Macclesfield's inability to send a shot anywhere near the target, that it didn't cost us.  Di Canio wasn't happy the foul wasn't given and the fourth official called the ref over.  In the first half the fourth official had made one ofour coaches move away from the technical area and sit on the bench, even though the Macclesfield coach was doing exactly the same.  Pathetic.

I'm inclined to think that PDC is rested Jonathan Smith ahead of a busy final half of the season. Risser is ideal to fill in and even though he's not as popular in the centre of midfield, he's a part of a winning team and wants to play for the club.

I can't argue with that.

I think overall one of our poorer performances of the season but we still managed to come away with the 3 points which is really gratifying.  Good job that Macc were so poor.

Caddis and Ferry were both way down on their usual high standards, with Caddis's final balls being well below normal service.  Ritchie also had one of his quieter games.  Its a measure of how much we come to take it for granted that these 3 will perform well week-in week-out when we comment on their quieter games like this.

I can't recall Wes having to do anything except catch the ball a couple of times.  The back 4 were never under any real threat and mostly dealt with it well, though there were one or two occasions where Macc's woeful finishing took the danger away.  I thought Cibocchi looked assured and would have no qualms about him playing regularly if that is the way PdC goes.

Risser played the best I've seen from him and would have been a MOTM contender for me.

Raffa was fairly quiet and wasn't surprising to see him replaced by Rooney when it happened.  Rooney looks very skillful and was a class cross for the goal; I'm sure will be a useful acquisition.  Hopefully he will be less selfish when he gets settled as there were a few occasions when he should have played the ball across rather than gone for a run and shot himself.

Benson plays his socks off and definitely adds something that we don't have with any of our other strikers currently.  I wasn't impressed with either of the other forwards today.  Connell huffed and puffed but for whatever reason didn't get a grip on the game, though to be fair the distribution feeding him was generally poor. Murray seems to offer little extra and I'd have liked to see Bodin given another chance in preference.

As mentioned by many others the ref was particularly awful today and totally inconsistent in his decisions.

I counted the Macc fans and only made it 35, so perhaps the other 3 stayed in the bar all game. But I don't think I'd bother travelling the sort of distance they came if I had to watch performances like theirs every week.

Not a good game to watch but the league table more than makes up for it. Macclesfield were pure shite. Their goalkeeper, for a time wasting wanker, wasn't too shabby, neither was the guy who got sent off.
We were incomplete and toal command of the game but our decision making and final ball were bollocks. I also felt that if we needed to raise our game we would have done so.
MOM for me was Risser - nothing fancy but he won the ball, was physical and played it simple. I think he set the record for the number of chest passes by a midfielder.
Rooney looked a bloody good player when he came on - very direct.
As for the penalty, there was a very clear hand ball before Flint and their nobhead danced. Whether the incompetent buffoon who masqueraded as a ref or his equally inept lino saw it, I doubt it.
Not a great game, but a great result followed by other great results.
The circus now moves on to Leicester. I like this circus.

Next Saturday whilst we're knocking out the Foxes in the Fourth Round our match with Southend (A) has been re-arranged for Tuesday 31st, Crawley v Morecambe is also a re-arranged fixture. However, 'nam are away to today's stubborn opponents Macclesfield, The Gas are at home v Bradford, Scum are away v Burton & Pikey's are away to Accrington.

The following Saturday February 4th sees these important fixtures. Shots v The Gas, Nam v Wombles, Bradford v Creepy, Shrews v Vale, Scum v Barnet, Argyle v Sarfend, STFC V Burton, Gills v Hereford as being the one's to watch.

We are now at the business end of the season with admittedly still much to play for but oh boy does it start to get interesting.

Not a great game, but delighted with the 3 points. I didn't think we were going to score for most of the game.

I thought Rooney looked very good when he came on and it was a great ball in for our goal. No idea what happened with the penalty and red card, but an awful pen from Ritchie. I'll let him off this time.

Risser had a decent game, was very efficient and didn't give the ball away as much as he usually would. Cibbochi had a decent game as well.

Macclesfield were massively shite. Offered nothing going forward, although to be fair, they defended stubbornly. Shocking support though, I cant remember a smaller following at the CG?

I thought Macclesfied were shocking. The worse team this season at Swindon. Sure we were not at our best and the strong wind was not helping the football first half but we ground out a deserved win and are in touching distance of the promotion pack.

MOM - The 38 from Macc.
Seriously pleased for Risser after the crap he has had to put up with. Probably had his best game today whilst not a world beating performance but a good one.
Rooney - Was told he was not featuring yesterday but so glad he was. Ritchie and him on fire are going to cause havoc.
Paolo - Brightens up my days. Loved his interview and said that Benson was older than himself.
Can't get some of our fans who have a serious go at players when they make a mistake. FFS give them encouragement not verbal crap. They are at least giving it a go unlike the wasters from last season.

Happy Days - Pox not happy.

A day out next Saturday and one to enjoy at Leicester.

Rooney was excellent, as were Benson and Flint. Ferry suffered for playing alongside Risser yet again, who was good in the air, but wasteful or too conservative on the ground (he and their #12 seemed to cancel eachother out with matching ineptitude). A decent enough win, the type you need if you want to keep momentum. Oh, and a terrible pen from Ritchie.

However some of our fans do make you wonder sometimes. After a misplaced pass from him in the second half (probably one of the two Chalkie mentioned), some twat decided to shout out "get him off Di Cano, he's a liability".

I fear that unless he turns into Lionel Messi overnight there are some who will never accept him.
In fact, there are probably some amongst us that would slag off Messi if he played for us.

Yes, that was the point.

It doesn't matter how he plays, there are some that will never be satisfied.
The best he can hope for from them, is silence.

The problem I guess is that as a player if you play not to make mistakes, you will never try anything other than the 100% safe, and then you get accused of being negative.

I guess he will just have to take comfort in the fact that Paolo thinks he can play, and to be honest it's his opinion that really matters.

Meh, I honestly think he's poor. He never deserves to be in ahead of Smith for me, he doesn't do enough. Having said that, I'd never abuse him or anything, I'm not one of those and he (and any town player) doesn't deserve such treatment.

Very happy with the 3 points and relieved when we scored because whist we had a lot of the ball we didn't have much quality. Whilst Risser frustrated me when he tired, I was more frustrated with Ritchie today as he had a shocker. Just one of those games for him as he was certainly trying. Ritchie and Rooney on either win looks like a great combination. I would also like to see Kennedy back in the side.

I'm glad Rooney got a decent reception, I'm sure he's already happy of his decision to sign for us. The only good cross of the game came from him too.

Not one of Ritchie's better games, but if that bloke hadn't blocked his shot with his face he would have scored another screamer.

He probably meant selfish as in taking the penalty himself.

Although not being a huge fan I can see why Risser gets the nod in games like today, he is a strong player and wins most things in the air. Which is perfect against a team like Macclesfield who had a team of giants playing lump ball.
But his passing and mobility are weak points, he misplaces a lot of passes and lumps alot of hopefull balls out of play.
I personally thought he was average today, he just offers us something Ferry and Smith dont. As a pairing Smith and Risser don't seem to work at all, but I do agree Ferry does seem to lose something of his game next to Risser.

I think if we could have scored early today we could have put 4 or 5 past them - they were that dire.

Risser had an OK game - he covers the defence against a certain type of team. My only real concern with him is that he doesn't seem too mobile - if the play goes past him it seems to take a long time for him to stop and turn.

Cibocci seems a bit of a steady eddie - for me Kennedy is better.

Highlight of the day was seeing Notts Red trying to have a drink from a hip flask without being seen by stewards - or as my sons put it "Hey dad, why is that man getting his friends to stand in front of him?"

sorry if someone else has mentioned it but am I alone in thinking that we're not very good at starting games this season? I've not been to as many games as most but in the games I have seen it seems to be a recurring theme that we look a bit out of sorts in the first half, particularly early on, before improving in the second half? If we get an early goal we usually settle down, I just think we look very nervous - reminds me of Pietersen when he's on 0. Anyway, it doesn't seem to be doing us much harm.

Not a great performance and nobody stood out for me. I will stick up for Risser who despite his limitations had a decent game. Rooney looked a lot like Gabilondo did on his debut.

I'm still baffled by the sending off and penalty but up until that point I had the distinct impression that the referee was making everything up as he went along.

I thought the 3 points were deserved, Macclesfield set up looking for a point, every time we attacked the ball just got hoofed straight back to the back 4.
Can see why Di Canio started Risser today, a lot of long balls that Smith wouldn't have won in the air. I thought Risser was out best player today, he might not be as good as Smith technically but he protects the back 4 very well.
Connell huffed and puffed, but it wasn't one of his better games, although I don't think Murray was much better when we came on.
Benson was superb, if he was here at the start of the season I think we would already be top the league.
Rooney, looked the part, if he plays like that every week with him on the left and Ritchie on the right we will tear this division a new arsehole.

The final decision was poor yesterday but the build up play was great. What has been severely lacking is the attack down the left hand side, everything comes down our right, so what is great is Rooney looks a cracking signing who would be better suited with Kennedy. Cibo was ok but not attacking at all which will leave Rooney isolated.

De Vita offers strength and cover, plus a bit of goalscoring threat. Rooney offers a lot more trickery and attack.

We have good options down the left. Just need to offload Esejas and Gabby now. Not given a chance so no hard feelings, but no point in keeping them.

The only thing that worries me about that is the views of Gills supporters (incl a friend of mine who made exactly this point last week) who say that while he can be outstanding on his day, he does have others where he goes AWOL.  I have a suspicion that Rooney may need to be subbed from time to time.  Agree that Esajas has no future with us, but I still hope there will be room to retain Gabilondo.

Just watch the League 2 highlights on the FL Show. PDC was not a happy chappy in the press conference was he!

Also some good/comedy moments in this weeks show:

- PDC kicking Ritchie up the arse a he left the field of play.
- Plymouth's centre back scoring an overhead kick to equalise against Crawley (not quite Fallonesque)
- Dewburry's "imperfect hatrick"
- AFC Wombles getting a penalty for ??? against the pikeys
- A keeper airshot from a tame backpass leading to a Crew goal.
- Torquay somehow not conceding a penalty when their player caught the ball while laying down in their box.

That's an interesting point made about Rooney going AWOL. You need to consider that he now plays for us. By that I mean he has a new set of team mates, manager, fitness and technical coach, style of play, expectations etc. Any short comings will be sorted out PDQ by Paolo, don't you think?

Also the kerfuffle surrounding Bury's penalty, about four players were arguing over who was going to take it, I think atleast one player got booked also.
They eventually scored it and it looked like the opposing keeper celebrated it slightly, very odd.

(I know this isn't strictly League Two, but  it was on the Football League show)

Didn't think Macclesfield were as bad as some people have said, they were a bit limited by ability but they came with a game plan and it could easily have worked!  Seen worse sides at the CG this season, Barnet amongst them!

Fotheringham, Kennedy, Flint, McCormack, Caddis, Ritchie, Ferry, J Smith, Rooney, Benson, Connell.

For me, that is the most exciting young Swindon line up Ive ever seen. With the exception of the 3 older players mentioned, everyone of those players is potentially worth over £300k, some a lot more. Just got to worry about them not signing contracts now.

Thank you.

With Kennedy and J Smith, yes they need games. Weve got a fantastic team in place, with very few weak links. Dont underestimate how much that can progress young players if they are used in the right way. Especially if they get a promotion under their belts.

Would be typical of Swindon fans to talk down their own team though (only to watch these players go on and flourish elsewhere)

For me Flint is worth more now than we got for Tozer and Morrisson combined and with come coaxing (like Hoddle did with Shaun Taylor) and improving his passing then this guy can be a good good player in the future, one of the best defensive prospects I have seen at Swindon in decades.

Smith does have a lot of potential and could well get a lot better than he is by not lunging into tackles and passing the easy ball.

Kennedy I think has found his level now and is a good left back in this division but much higher and he will struggle......defensively anyway.

Not just Torquay fans.

I have registered on the Crawley forums, just to see if there is any speculation about their players leaving. But saw a couple of comments about "moneybags Swindon" and our "50 man squad".

I guess their fans, who I don't have a problem with, have had a fair bit of that directed at them over recent seasons and are glad of someone else stealing that limelight. That and their fat twat Bobby Davro manager making similar comments about us and (I think) Southend and Cheltenham - which is just stupid..
--------

On our squad my opinion (it is just an opinion) is that Fods, Richie, Caddis and Ferry would already be comfortable at a top league 1 side. I think De Vita has a chance and we haven't seen enough of Rooney but he has skill and at 21 a bit of time.

Smith I'm not sure about. I think physically he's well up to it, not sure about speed of thought though. He seems to keep improving so why not.

'Elder' statesman McCormack and Benson could cut it. The jury is out on Connell, but I like him as a player.

With Kennedy, I swear that kid has a lot more to offer. People who used to watch him for the youths and reserves say his free kicks are superb. If I had to pick 1 player at the club to deliver a perfect classical cross into the box, it would be him.

Yes Cibocchi is more solid (and has turned into the best foreign player signed by Paolo). But he hangs back a lot. Games like yesterday, I would love to see a speedy full back overlapping and sending fizzing crosses into the box. Attacking full backs are the secret to keeping teams at the top of the league. If a team has come to 'park the bus', then they are vital.

I rate Kennedy, and i think him and Rooney on the left would be a brilliant attacking pairing. The odd occasion he looks slightly vulnerable at the back, but he's a young, L2 full back... that'll happen. He can be exciting with his crossing and passes down the channel, and hasn't cost us many goals directly in his career. Possibly even less than Caddis?

IIRC the squad lists on the back of yesterdays matchday programme had our squad as smaller than Macclesfield.

We've got 29 players registered at the moment, five of which are fringe/youngsters (Storey, Scott, Bedwell, Thompson and Thompson) and two players almost certainly on their way out (Kerrouche and Lanzano) then a squad size of 22 senior players doesn't seem terribly excessive...particularly when a few have made only a handful of appearances.

I only showed very brief flashes of what he could do for us. His best football was without a doubt played at Oxford.

The 're-writing' history bit refers to the fact that, as I recall, 99% of Town fans were absolutely delighted that we signed him but when he left it was "Oooh, I never thought he was any good any way" a bit like you get when some people talk about Mooney.

Joey Bumchump had bags of skill, a great cross and a good shot but it was his unwillingness to track back when he lost the ball, his "looked like he was not bothered" attitude, apparent lack of desire and his laziness also didnt go down well with the fans.

Yet he was pretty much comparable to Bobby Barnes in skill level and attitude but because he came from the scum he could never wash that off and people were more eager to get on his back, something that Bobby Barnes didnt get even though he was probably as lazy at tracking back as Bumchump.

Also Bumchump looked a good 2 stone overweight all the time which didnt help him.

He was given less chance than most players that sign for us.

Almost as soon as he signed his quotes from an Oxford fanzine about how much he hated Swindon & loved scoring against us was published. After that I don't think he was ever really going to be accepted by the crowd.

But as you say he did have the ability to be a top class footballer, however being an obnoxious scum supporting little cunt was always going to make it hard for that to happen at Swindon.

I am one of the 1% then
and me. i've been consistent in my 40 years of watching town that we should be Scum free zone. Mark Jones though nearly won me over in that he got his head down and stayed out of the tribal thing. Bumchum really was a cunt and still in my eyes is the biggest one ever to wear the red.

This is what I assume someone means when they say that Rooney reminds them of Beauchamp. At least that's what I hope they meant and they didn't actually mean he was a lazy disinterested bastard. I'm pretty sure it was the former.

Having not seen Rooney play with my own eyes I have to say that I hope thats what people mean too.

I wasnt against Beauchamp when we signed him although he was a scummer. He was clearly talented which I think makes it even worse because he certainly didnt show the same level of talent for us as he did for them.

Then there was the whole leaving, us losing a shit load of money on the deal and him scoring against us which just cement the fact he was always a scummer even when he wore red.

Lesson learnt - no more scum at the CG.

Fed up of the Risser-bashing at matches. I think a majority of people realise what he offers us and his strengths and limitations, but there is still quite a large (and vocal) proportion of idiots who slag him off before he has even touched the ball, let alone made a "mistake". I thought one lad next to us yesterday was going bust a blood vessel, he was that angry when Risser faield to close somebody down quick enough. Was the same last week at Rotherham (Devera got a pasting from some fucking idiot as well).

Ritchie's penalty was horrendous and I like the look of Rooney. Wish he's put his arms down though.

Rooney sure runs weird.

Devera had a good game yesterday. Will PDC put McCormack straight back in? I think his reading of the game is superior to Devera, but its a tough call.

Thought Risser was quality yesterday, he was in there for a reason, and that was because Macclesfield had two 6 foot plus Big sturdy defensive midfielders that would cause problems with high balls, Risser won most of the balls in the air, won alot of good tackles, played the occasional misplaced pass, but thats to be expected of league two standard, just wish the boo boys would lay off him.

Totally agree, the poison that some people have put in as regards Risser is just plain daft, as others decided to get on the bandwagon!  See my post earlier in the thread regarding the guy who kept on giving Risser abuse yesterday.

I'd put him back in. Been quality for us at centre back.

Rooney sure runs weird. So did Austin when he first joined, ran like a girl in fact. Luckily he could not stop scoring otherwise the pink rooms brigade would have descended upon SN1 in their droves.

Can someone remind me if Rooney is cup tied in the JPT. I'd assume he is?

I think I'd put McCormack in too. Devera has proven himself capable despite his dodgy start to the season. Good to have strength in depth.

Yes.

thanks. Well, at least he'll be fresh for the Southend and Barnet away games then.

What a month we have coming up Shrews, Crawley, Burton, Southend. Then the Pox and Cheltenham a bit later. This big squad may start paying dividends.

My thoughts entirely. I was a bit surprised they re-scheduled the Southend game so soon after the Leicester game. Then again I suppose you could argue that it's better to get the games played when you can rather than risk a fixture pile up. I dare say there will be several changes between the two games and PDC certainly has a few options in that respect.

We have to start with Flint and McCormack in as many games as possible, they are by far our best pairing... McCormack will be nicely rested and raring to go i imagine.

Agree McCormack should slot straight back in. Not a slight on how Devera has played though, having him as your 3rd best centre back is a good indication of the strength of the squad.

Earlier in the season there were so many people (noticeably Vic Morgan) constantly blabbing on about the size of our squad. (which was not that big)

It seem a different tune is now being sung.

Players like Devera and Risser are now really beginning to show their value. That's what having a squad is all about.

the thing with Ritchie is out doesn't matter how badly he is playing even then he can still win you a game

Totally agree. I watched MOTD last night and Wolves put over a few decent crosses from the left wing by a left foot. Commentator was creaming over the deliveries. Ritchie can deliver those types of crosses.
I like players, even when not playing well to have a go on goal. We get this from Ritchie.
That bullet yesterday was going in. The lad done well apart from getting a headache stopping it.

Di Canio's sending off and subsequent rant has made it into the daily papers in Norway:

http://www.dagbladet.no/2012/01/24/sport/fotball/league_two/swindon/paolo_di_canio/19922658/

One of the comments at the bottom is great, it translates as "to ask an Italian not to wave his arms when he is engaged is like asking a helicopter to fly without using the rotors"  :)

Torquay have quietly gone about their business and are sitting in a good position to keep the pressure on those above them. I thought Billy would be going back to them but maybe we will leave it until the last day if he does.
