Believe its bollocks.

According to the BBC page the Newcastle v Sunderland game is a 3pm KO.

Could be amended of course, but I smell shite. Did you get this info from an Oxford fan?

Sky have yet to announce the March games. If it is on Sky I can see it changed to a 12.15 KO as they did when we played against Rotherham.

Sky always kick off their Saturday afternoon games around 12.15-12.30. The Police won't mind if it's only a 15 min delay.

The idea of a temporary stand hasn't officially been rebuffed..must only be a matter of time.

Perhaps we can increase our attendance by taking step ladders to look over the fence end.

Surprisingly, taking a look at the Yellows forum yields some unusually sensible responses...

I'm 'Eric-esque' in my hatred for them but I actually think it is wrong to have not given them a normal allocation. If the tables were turned then I'd be incandescent with rage.
I know many will say they can swing for it etc etc etc but I still put myself in their shoes and I know I'd be gutted.

Agree. If we only get 1,200 at their place next time, and I don't get one, id be fuming, but we would only have ourselves to blame.

Have to say I agree with them, I'm fucking fuming. They should give us double the allocation they have!!

In a funny sort of way, I can understand what they've done.  They have basically put their own fans first.  Put the home tickets on sale well in advance to see what the demand was (and that looks to be about 10,300 fans)...and once they were sure all/most of their own fans who wanted to get a ticket had one, they put the remaining tickets on sale for us.

I wasn't going to try for a ticket to this one anyway...there are much better away days than Oxford.  But demand will comfortably outstrip the supply on this occasion, so someone in Swindon is going to make a killing if they can find a way to legitimately get a feed for the match up on a big screen.

Buy a pair of stilts from giggles and walk up & down the fence very slowly.

Go the night before & drill some peep holes in the fence.

Hire an open top double decker bus & park it by the fence.

We don't need their tickets. We should just turn up en-mass in the car park 5 mins before kickoff, they would never give us such a small allocation again ever

It's a joke. People say they wanted to see what the demand was for the game but surely they should have left us 2,000 tickets when they put them on sale back in 2010? Still don't get why they sold them to home fans so early. Desperate for cash i'd imagine. They have basically done it on purpose to try and maximize the home support and reduce the numbers of the travelling support.

Interesting to note from the OUFC statement that putting up the additional stand would mean 'the overall attendance would be over 14,000, which would also create serious traffic flow and parking issues before and after the match'.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for ever extending the existing stadium then, especially when there are more houses being planned nearby.  Yet another reason not to build your ground so far from the centre of town and any meaningful infrastructure.

It says on that link

If a stand was put in place 1,974 seats would then become available for home fans

That would suggest that the segregated area between the two sets of fans will be more than half of the tickets that we have been allocated (722).

They've had a fair bit of explaining to do of late.

Speaking from experience, this is not a good sign for them.

This allocation has nipped any sign of crowd trouble in the bud straight away. They had good numbers here and its a fucking pisser we can't do the same there.
1200 shirters aint gonna do jack shit and i suspect a fair few will get a slap. Them scum cunts are fucking dying for us to come down the a420.
Shame as a load of our lot would have come out the woodwork for this and showed up there in good numbers. They will take the piss now.

If we gave them the same at our place we wouldn't sell out which means we can't argue with what they've done.

You've nailed it here. it will stop widespread trouble as the average Town fan will be of the more respectable variety. What will happen however is that those cunts will just take out civlian targets - so safer for Scum, less safe for town.
I'd imagine given no restraints we'd be looking at taking 5,000 to this one.

What I'd suggest, though this won't happen, is that none of you buy tickets!!! That would really hurt them, in the pocket. if we lost they'd have no one to goad and no revenue and when we win they have no points and no money £20 x 1200 = £24k plus programes and scum dogs. Oh and a police wage bill. :D

With an additional stand the overall attendance would be over 14,000, which would also create serious traffic flow and parking issues before and after the match

So Poxford can't cope with a 14,000 attendance - fucking amateurs

Not sure yet how the club is going to sell tickets, but even as season ticket holders doubt if we will get any, unless its a telephone only sale.

FFS, We had more tickets from Barnet for the JPT.

Tinpot piss stained excuse for a football club that they are.

Maybe they should do what most small non league clubs used to do in the FA cup when they drew a big team, and switch the game to the CG, either that or move it to a neutral ground. Maybe they could resurrect the Thames Valley Royals concept & move the game to Reading.

The Tickets will probably be split between phone sales and first come bases at the ticket office, I think if you have a season ticket you stand quite a good chance of getting an Oxford ticket as quite a few season ticket holders are older fans and also children who won't want t go to Oxford because of the hassle.

I wouldnt advise anyone wanting a ticket to plan buying over the phone.

They will probably say that phone sales wil be available but it will pretty impossible to get through.  Probably have 1 person on the phones as everyone will be busy dealing with face to face sales.

It's going to be difficult for the out of Towners to get them in person so hopefully the club will  have it covered both ways. Shouldn't be a problem as they have just dealt with around 4,000 Leicester ticket sales in a very short space of time. Fingers crossed.

Yup -

Quote
If a stand was put in place 1,974 seats would then become available for home fans, which would all need to be sold to close the gap for the costs of the new stand. After two months of home tickets selling out and numerous reminders the waiting list currently stands at only 165 tickets, therefore it is a reasonable assumption that the demand for additional seating will not reach the supply.

Title: Re: Oxford game on sky apparently

Some quick maths...

2700/15700 = 17% of capacity
1252/12500 = 10% of capacity

If they were to offer us the same "proportion" of the stadium we did (17%), they would need to give us about 2125 tickets (assuming reported wikipedia capacity figures are correct).

Looks as if the penny has now dropped with a few of their own fans about the inadequacy of the Kassam.

http://yellowsforum.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=7311

I do have some sympathy with them.  They had been trying to move from the Manor Ground for years, without success.  Oxford is a notoriously difficult place in which to gain planning permission - and, in the end, they were effectively bounced in to accepting just about the only site available to them.  In order to placate the heritage lobbies etc. it was, surprise surprise, way out of town...tucked away on an inaccessible site well outside the ring road and next to the sewerage treatment facility, in an area where most of Oxford would never get to see it.  Years on, and after a few more houses have been built around it, it's hardly a surprise that future expansion opportunity is going to be limited.

That's it, folks.  Three stands are all you're going to get.  (The irony is they used to have 7 or 8.)

Which bits are wrong then?  I don't claim to have got the fine detail right, by the way.  It's not my club, so I'm no expert on that.  But the general thrust is about right, isn't it?  I lived in Oxford for a period in the 1990s (a few years before the move actually happened).  The ground move story seemed to drag on and on; hurdle after hurdle to clear.  And the options really were limited, as I remember...which, of course, they were bound to be in a city like Oxford.  The centre of Oxford is basically owned by the Colleges, along with a lot of the land further out.  Land for developments of that nature is/was so scarce that you were never going to have much of a choice, location wise...no?

If buying Leicester tickets is anything to go by it will be virtually impossible to get them over the phone.

Agree with the aggro part, but with away followings up this year, taking around 4k to Leicester and having not played them away for 10 years you never know you maybe suprised!

Well, that's me fucked then.

Already booked train tickets to come down about 1 next Saturday, can't afford to redo it to get there at 9. The chances of getting through on the phone are about 0.

Fucking hell, that's gonna be tight. At least it's on Saturday - I can make sure I've got the day off.

That's me buggered then - by the time I am able to make a call they will have all gone.

Do you know anyone in the Town who also will be going and queueing up anyway? could they get you one if you gave them your ST number?

Obviously would need to clarify with the club though, it's not clear if they expect all 1,252 people to queue up, or 300 or so buying 4 tickets each (with ST numbers of their mates)

Will need to show physically show the season ticket rather than quote the number i assume.

That wasn't the case with the Leicester game to get the £15 tickets, could just quote ST numbers for that, though this is obviously different. Have asked the club and am waiting on confirmation...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Assume they planning on putting it on a series of smaller TV's in the suite's, that will ruin any atmosphere, why can't they do a big screen ?

I'd imagine because a) it'd be expensive and b) they won't want a few thousand people traipsing over the pitch.

My mates gave me their Season tickets so we only had to make one call and we could get seats together at Leicester.
Would imagine we could do that again as you can only get one per person. I also used a couple of kids season tickets to get adult Leicester tickets which was fine with our ticket office.

Oh, I assumed it wasn't on at all. The cost of a live feed must be high, especially if there is no planned live uplink from the Kassam.

Maybe they could do an internet feed as a worst case scenario? I bet preiumarsewipes wouldn't allow that.

edit: just saw the Adver story. Ignore.

I did the same, but seems this won't be the case this time. Official STFC response...
"You are able to purchase tickets for your friends as long as you have their season ticket books on you"

So, seems like tickets will be needed this time!

Spoke to Nick Watkins last night and the Oxford game is to be shown at the County Ground. To be announced today he said and will be shown in all bars except the Legends and will also be shown on the Don Rogers concourse.

I cant think of anything worse than standing in the concourse staring at those poky little boxes, Oxford or not.

Radio on, Sky Sports on silent on the telly watching Soccer Saturday, a few beers and enjoy.

Has Soccer Saturday started at 6am or whatever time it is we're kicking off?

Fair play to the club for doing this. Not sure i'd fancy being in the Don Rogers concourse though, bit too damp and chilly.

Not that i'll be going, probably going to miss out on Wembley too

Being non-technical - if they beam the match to Swindon is there any chance of an internet stream
