Post by: 4D on Friday, January 6, 2012, 10:56:08
I want to get something for home to run Ms office 2010 and for internet use. I'm not bothered about watching films on it.
Should I get a netbook or laptop?
Is a netbook a miniature lappy?  :idiot:

Well if you're happy to use Google Docs, the Chromebook seems like a good shout  :D

The Chromebook is just a glorified and very expensive browser.

Remember that a lot of Netbooks don't come with CD-Roms. A lot of people forget that.

In this instance, what is the difference between a netbook and a small laptop?

A netbook is smaller than a small laptop :D Probably with a less powerful Atom processor and less Ram

Anything you want to do with a CD Rom you can also do with a usb stick, just a little more involved

I don't really get it. I see 11" laptops with great specs. Then I see a 10.1" netbook with similar specs. What on earth is the difference  ???

This is what I would call a decent spec 11" lappie, it is in fact an 11.6"

My netbook has a dual core Atom processor, so that's what I'd call a good spec for a netbook

The big difference is the price

What's the difference really? 300 extra quid for what?
