Didn't listen on Saturday, prob wont bother today either. Only interested to see if Hart walks today or not. He may not have a choice after we lose something like 3-0.

I shall be watching them at Hillsborough today. I watched the first game of the season at home to Brighton & Saturday's defeat to Notts County was almost a re-run.  Playing some good football in patches without converting it into goals and inevitably avoidable defensive errors cost us the points.

I think we'd all agree on why we are where we are - not adequately replacing crucial players from last season's team. Yes, players were signed but they proved to be not fit for purpose - indeed my theory is that they were signed with a view to playing Championship football when we really needed League One Battlers.

Still, we do at least have a club - we can now start rebuilding for League Two probably under a new manager. You'll never know how much it hurts to type those words - 'League Two' - I cannot still believe the disaster that has been this season. The expectation & the promise - all cruelly dashed on Saturday although realistically I believed we were going down about a couple of months ago.

But yes, I shall be there & despite all I am hoping for a more consistent defensive display & commitment from the red shirts.  They owe all the loyal fans who've turned up throughout the season & tried to rally and encourage the team - frankly they've been short changed.

I agree with those sentiments Prof. I was one of the last to concede relegation but even I accepted it as inevitable after the Plymouth defeat. Having known it's been coming for so long, it probably sounds strange to say I am shocked. But that is how I feel. Totally shocked and dumbfounded that this could have happened.

I also feel hurt and personally offended by what has been allowed to happen by the custodians of my Club. My attitude is how dare they allow this to happen?. Again, that may sound strange but it's just how I feel.

What I would like to happen now is that Hart has already fucked off never to return. I am quite prepared to believe that as a person away from football he is a first class human being. In footballing terms though he is a total cunt. His way of playing the game is utterly dispicable. Hopefully Bodin can take over for the last few games and we can at the very least play with a bit of pride and play the game in the right way, regardless of the result.

No one's been a bigger supporter of Fitton than me but that bloke has some serious questions to answer and some serious work to do over the summer.

I've actually had a couple of quid on that accumulator.

In fact if that does happen it is going to be even more painful over the next couple of weeks.

If there was anything in it, I was going to take my daughter, then decided it wasn't worth it but then at 1-0 against County decided it was worth it, then they scored 2 and it was game off for me.
Can't see anythnig other than a defeat. As joteddyred says, fair play to those who go today. The sun is shining, easter monday, work tomorrow and a good few quid down the pisser and then the journey back - i salute you.

What's wrong with him now? If he's still here next season, I can' t see him playing regularly. Age, injury and inconsistency seem to have caught up with him.

His demise over the last 12 months has been a major problem. As big a problem as selling Greer.

Huddersfield away last season he put in 1 of the best goalkeeping performances Ive ever seen from a Town goalkeeper.

You could say the same about Ferry, JP and to a lesser extent Amankwha. One season wonders at the moment. Whether that is down to them or management is another matter.

Suppose so. I just think that next season squad will bear minimal relation to this. I am usually wrong but I'd be amazed to see Prutton, Douglas and Ferry here, where as I can see JPM and Timlin staying.

Spot on. If he's not going to be fit enough for a full season we need another keeper.

As for today it will Swindon Town 0, Sheff Weds some.

Dont understand the decision to drop Andrew, he just needs someone along side of him.
I guess he will have, unfortunately they will be along side him on the bench

im almost looking forward to the post match interview already

I would imagine it will be along the lines of "There you go, the fans wanted Ferry, I played him and we got dicked.  I hope they're happy now?"

The chances of Hart being at the CG for the Oldham game have got to be slim to none.

*Great goal. worked hard on set pieces. begining to believe in them. great strike.

*(Third goal) we kept playing, said at half time we shouldn't do anything silly but that one takes the wind out of our sails. Cuthbert should have headed it, why beyond Hart. Carried on didn't let their heads drop. Very Very pleased with them today.

I am convinced, after that interview, that Hart has been offered the Director of Football role. Regardless of whether he is the manager or DOF he would not have made the decisions to let O'Brien or Dossevi go if he were not to be involved. He wants the managers job but my gut reaction is that he has been offered the DOF role. Therin lies his decision.

This would possibly lead to us having him as DOF and McParland staying on as manager.  I know pretty much jack all about McParland, but it's the Hart part of the Hart/McParland combo that is the truly terrifying part.  He clearly doesn't give a shit about what's happened and has shown himself to be a dire influence on both the players and the fans.  I dread his association with our club continuing past this evening.

Blimey, Vic raised his voice.

He's probably fuming about the way Hart behaved in the interview again and I don't blame him at all.  Some interviewers would have probably cut it short, but give him his due he ploughed on to no avail.

I've sent an e-mail to the club registering my disgust at Hart's attitude towards Vic and complete disinterest about the fact we'd been relegated during the interview.  I also informed them I'll be asking for a refund on my Season Ticket if Hart gets the job.  I know a few other people who have done the same.  Probably a complete waste of time, but it might get the point across how despised he is if they don't know already.

Vic's right though, the fans do deserve answers.  It would be good to have a statement out from Fitton tomorrow about what happens next, but that's wishful thinking.

Would it help if I mailed em and said "I would like to buy a season ticket on the proviso that that bloke Hart isn't there?"

I've never known all the fans unite in their universal dislike of a manager in such a short time ???

I happen to think he's bearing the brunt of the fans over what we've seen all season. He's in the wrong place at the wrong time and he's the outlet for everyone's frustration.

Having said that he's done himself no favours and he's a negative, arrogant tosser. I want him gone asap.

Also,we weren't in the relegation zone when he took over.  He's played one up front when we needed to win game after game after fucking game.  The Walsall game was the final straw.  To display no attacking intent (until the last five minutes) against a team that had come for 0-0 was a disgrace.  Miserable fucker who sould've fucked off after we lost to Plymouth (unrealistic I know, but I'd had enough even then).

Thats the spirit, lets all chant 'swiiindon, swiiindon, swiiindon' really slowly, all game - instead of dishing it out to Oldhams Chris 'Taaaaaylor, Taaaaylor, Taaaaylor' Taylor for a change...

So they can take the piss all they like, I really couldn't give a shit.

We all have more important things closer to home to worry about, like what next seasons playing squad will look like and most importantly who the manager will be. *

In homage of the movie,I'm considering creating my own human centipede. Charlie Austin and Paul Hart are obviously in, Charlie being the lucky middle piece eating shit from the front and crapping straight down Harts throat. There is a vacancy for my front piece of the centipede, Crawley manager perhaps?

With those six words, 'apart from sounding a dour cunt', you are totally brushing aside everything that is wrong with Paul Hart. The man has no passion, no heart, no fight, no feeling for the club whatsoever.

Apart from anything else, anyone who wants to play one up front week in, week out can fuck right off.

Quick question arriba. You said earlier that following Swindon was 'just a hobby' and not worth getting worked up over (or words to that effect). Is that all it is to you are were you just looking for a reaction?

Feeling pretty gutted about it all, but I suppose at least we all knew it was coming a few weeks (or even months!) ago.

I'm quite concerned about next season. But you'd think if we could assemble a team capable or getting promotion (including having a manager bugger off halfway through the season) with Diamond Mike at the helm, we can manage it this time. But who knows?

Just want a good manager, and a few of our best players kept on. We could build a team around Douglas. He'd stand out like a sore thumb in League 2. Ritchie would be decent as well, and depending on the forward players we have, perhaps JP could even give us something. All the rest are thoroughly replaceable.

To be fair it was Bill Powers cash injection that did that, and Diamond Mike did his best to divert those funds back to himself.

wasn't after a reaction.football is a hobby, but in hindsight i think i was wrong to say fans shouldn't get worked up about it.i shouldn't judge everyone else on how i feel about it.i do care, i'd just given up alot earlier than the majority.it doesn't hurt as much to me i suppose.

i agree that hart doesn't sound like he cares much, but i think that's down to the way he speaks and his persona, rather than not caring.
he wouldn't want to fail in his job.no manager would.

was reading a book recently and i've dug it out,it mentions hart.
paul hart had 2 nicknames as a player, fossil and horlicks...he was known as fossil becuse of his lived-in looks, and horlicks because his conversation had the same effect as the bedtime drink.

Just got back from Hillsborough and yes, the team did play some great football.  Indeed for large parts we were the side playing football & Wednesday looked no better than us. The first ten minutes or so we looked very impressive, playing the ball around with Ritchie, Ferry & Caddis making some good moves & lively interplay.  Benyon was being marked by some Northern Neanderthal who clambered over him & jostled him about - and yet Benton was the one being penalised. Sadly he didn't look very dangerous and clearly needs a partner to help his game. N'diaye looked pedestrian and wasn't very effective. Smith did OK but Prutton & especially Douglas were very good. Indeed for perhaps the first time this season I saw the Douglas of last year - even better than he was against Notts County. Lescinal Jean Francois was solid although his tendency to slip at crucial moments does make me nervous.  However his ball skills are good for a defender and his reading of the game has improved. Frampton got clattered early on & had to go off despite trying to play on. I was worried when Cuthbert came on but fair play to the guy he settled & didn't do too much wrong apart from another mistake for their 3rd goal but others were equally culpable.

The first goal was a tragedy, we were far more inventive & fluid during that first period. The shot looked to be covered by Smith but a defender (Frampton?) deflected it away from the diving Smith into the goal. Potter might claim it but it was an own goal.  The second goal was the pick of them, a lofted ball over the defence & Mellor delayed & then as Smith came out nodded it over the out rushing Smith & just under the bar. The Town players didn't quit though - perhaps there is some hope for next season because there has been diddly squit sign of it this. The Douglas goal was a beauty, a cracking shot from maybe 25 yards or more that flew into the top right hand corner of the goal - Weaver well beaten & the chanting of "We've seen Douglas score a goal" added some light relief. The Wednesday third goal was the obligatory 3-4 attempts to clear but didn't. The Wednesday forwards were bigger, moved well and were not afraid to shoot at goal whereas our striker Benyon - plural when Bodin & Andrew came on, looked far less threatening although Andrew added some much needed presence up front & did at least mix it with their central defenders.

In conclusion, the result pretty much what I expected although the football we played was better than I could have imagined.  If points were awarded for artistic impression we'd have got something from the game.  Sadly it isn't and because of the lack of goals in the team we didn't but great away support again. Rebuilding under whoever is appointed as manager is the priority with a striker or two an absolute necessity if we are to make a quick return.  Sorry if I've gone on a bit but keep the faith, it wasn't as bad as the scoreline suggests.

Thanks for the write up and I salute you for being there.  Couldn't bear to listen,  but gathered from the stats and comments from people on here listening that it wasn't all bad.  Sounds typical of the last 6 months though, failure to score and giving away silly goals.

You could hear chants of "you don't know what you're doing" on the Radio after Benyon was taken off. I presume it wasn't just Vic under his breath.

Title: Re: Sheffield Wednesday V Swindon Town Official Matchday Thread

Very little - I think most fans had vented their disappointment at him on Saturday although there was one chant of "You don't know what you're doing" when Benyon went off to be replaced by Andrew - most of us expected that a Benyon - Andrew combination might offer rather more threat up front.

Strangely there was almost a summer fair feeling about the fans - we knew we were down so let's make the most of a day out in the sun type situation. Speculation on who the manager will be though - rumours of Bodin or Trollope (Paul not John) with Paul Hart remaining as DOF but no doubt we'll know for sure soon enough.

Ferry played well, very mobile, supported his team mates & made himself available to take a pass.  Indeed we kept possession very well for quite long periods & made Wednesday players run & chase the ball. I still think he's going to be a very, very good player but he, like JP, Cuthbert, Amankwaah & Sheehan haven't been as good or as consistent this season as last. I would hope that he'll get fit over the Summer because he could be crucial to any chance of promotion - but please, please, please get a couple of people in who can score goals.  For all of today's beautiful football we never looked that threatening - that has to be sorted out this close season.

Well....here goes.

Too depressed to turn on the laptop last night so decided to tap out some shit this morning.

Left Calne metropolis at 9.

Hit Sheffield City Limits at around 12 - parked at the Greyhound/speedway track - KFC and then the Rawston Spring Wetherspoons boozer.

Had a great two hours chatting to some owls fans and then limped across the park to Hillsborough with Victor Mildew and the Peacock.

Nice ground and although it had posts a great view..... but looked a bit empty.

I dont know how many Town were there but i would reckon around 3-400....there were three coaches as i overtook em on the way back.....Bank holiday, new ground, big club and all that.

Quite obvious from Kick off that just when you thought Hart couldnt pick a more negative team he does.

Benyon up front against the biggest central defenders i have ever seen, defied logic?  A midget with no arms could out muscle Benyon and Ritchie......the poor bastards gave their all but it was hopeless....for all that we started to play it to feet and we gave as good as we got in midfield and our backs didnt look too troubled.

Then the goal, we looked exposed and Potters shot took a deflection and in, although there was another man coming in wide who would of probably scored anyway...cue Fat lady..

We huffed and puffed and started to make inroads.....Ritchie probably should of scored when put through but Weaver came out quickly and smothered the ball.

The second was a disaster.....Douglas took the ball up the pitch but dwelled on the ball got robbed and chipped and Mellor looped a header over Smith...Fat Lady Shrieking!

Then we came alive and really had a go and won a few corners...from one of these efforts Douglas thumped an unstoppable shot...from our end it looked as if Weaver got a glove to it but didnt have enough to stop it crashing into the net.
Yes!!!!  Dougie had done it!!!!   and i was there when it happened....

Frampton collapsed and super Cuthbert came on.

Halftime.

Surely Hart will change it.....as Benyon and Ritchie were swat like flies....Andrew must come on.....Eat Shit N'diaye was pants all half......Stevie Wonder could see it but guess what...??....Na......leave it as it is...what a cunt!

The game was ended soon after the restart, defenders had a mare as Mellor and his mate knocked it back and forth as we failed to clear and Mellor slipped it home to send us down....Fat lady screaming...

The crowd turned on Hart and chants with reference to being negative and going down without a fight were repaid too late with Andrew coming on for the hopeless N'Diaye (are those orange boots traffic cones?) and Bodin coming on for Benyon. too late...

But the lads did give it a go, Dougie had a strike sky over and another which was flicked off the head of the Steve Bould lookalikey and over for a corner as it headed towrds the corner.

The whistle was blown and the sticking shitting train wreck of a season was well and truly over.

Players came to the fans and were given a deserved standing ovation for a least the display on the day rather than the season.

Hart fucked off down the tunnel sharpish.

Prutton (i hate this) was my man of the match and broke up loads of play and rarely gave away the ball.

Time for a clear out ..... new manager please.....NOT HART and not of the cheap please.

I am pissed off ...that is all.

I didn't realise we weren't supposed to support the team when they got a bit shit.

Agreed.

It's a good job not everyone feels that way - otherwise there would be no teams below The Premiership.

You probably need to get a life to be fair. Emailing businessmen over a shitty game of kissball.

Who actually gives that much of a fuck (except you and probably Spencer White)?
Maybe you're on the wrong forum?

You're right, I have absolutely no life whatsoever along with all the other people who've done exactly the same!  It made me feel better that I've politely made my feelings known.  I'm sure they'll be plenty of people doing the same on Saturday, but much more vocally.  I'm not bothering to go, so this was my ten pence worth.

Got the train from Burton on Trent..met a couple of young Town fans who were having a laugh on the train by phoning up Chinese Restaurants and reserving reserving tables of twenty..After waiting half an hour a tram eventually arrived, got talking to some decent Owls fans en route. Found a cracking chippy which made missing the kick off worth while..

First time at Hillsborough sinec the premiership season..support was a bit flat..understandable, only one or two bursts of anti Oxford songs. Plenty of "we are so negative" . At Half time a giant inflatable football was knocked over the balcony by a steward but JP kicked it back up..

Prutton and Ritchie gave solid performances..pissed off out with ten minutes to go, thought we had deserted early until we met a lad from Didcot who decided to hit the pubs after 45 minutes!!

A broken down train at Chesterfield and an hours delay on the way home added to the gloom...!! Oh well tickets booked for Oldham and Tranmere..get up, dust yourself down and start again- if you want to follow a team who win every weekend fuck off and join the twats who watch Man U..!!!  Me, I will stick to Swindon through thick and thin...and even thinner times under Hart!! :D

If by 'following the team'  you mean getting there late and leaving early, well done sir.

Indeed NevilleW...delayed arrival due to no trams from the train station and no food on the train meant grabbing a pre kick off scoff..an early exit to catch train home to get the daughter home as school in the morning but we were there to support and sing our hearts out..
