Title: Swindon v Tranmere Official Matchday Thread
Post by: Batch on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 07:16:12
Thought I may as well start it.

1-1

Austin to sign off with a goal.

Some kind of mess up for theirs in 90+6 minute.

I'm pretty sure BS Radio Swindon reported that they didn't if Charlie would start tonight despite the Adver reporting he will.  It's so hard to call because you just don't know what team will turn up tonight.

Everytime i bet against the team we win so i'll go 2-0 win to Tranmere

Swindon Town 0 - 2 Tranmere

I'm going to do a Si Pie and start betting on us to lose. At least if we get relegated I'll be a little bit richer.

Unfortunately I think morale is at an all time low for the season at the moment so until some fresh faces are in the squad I can't see things changing but we should have enough for a 1 -1 draw tonight to end the run of defeats.

It's beginning to have the feel of 2005-2006, when everytime I drove to the CG I expected us to be shit.

It's not as bad as that (yet) but it's getting there.

1-1 - We go down to an early goal - the first cries of 'we want Wilson out' are heard and 'you're not fit to wear the shirt'. We scramble an equallizer in the last 10 minutes through Prutton, who claps sarcastically at the town fans.

Only 6577 turn up on a rain soaked evening, including 85 Tranmere fans.

At least that's how I dreamt it!

I shall be there tonight. My first game since the 3-0 home defeat to Charlton, so it doesn't bode very well.

I wouldn't expect Charlie to play if he's under an offer - he's likely to be tiptoeing around the pitch in case he breaks his leg.

I'll say 1-1, because I'm feeling positive.

We can't lose tonight.

Haven't lost 4 on the spin in the league since September '05 in the season we went down.

2-1 (Austin, Ritchie)

Can't Austin starting tonight tbh if he has 2 bids in for him.  Radio said more or less  the club weren't sure if he would start tonight.  That could be what Douggie meant by interesting day yesterday

Not going tonight so a Swindon win (probably/maybe), and if they do somehow win, I will stay absent until they lose again, so see you for the next home game. Not at all confident

Tranmere to win 3-0

Has to be a win this evening...which, sadly, increases pressure on the team.  Everyone knows we're in a rut.  Just need to break the cycle.

I'm not going to speculate on on whether we'll win or what will happen if we don't.  Just need to focus on the 90 mins for now.

I am going tonight as we won hospitality at the Yeovil game...nice one Rockin Robin! so a 220 mile round trip on a school night and a very happy daughter who is taking a half day!

Not a prediction as much as a wish list:

A Clean sheet for Phil Smith
Charlie to leave on a high with at least one goal
Pericard to score in front of the home crowd to get some confidence....

I normally look forward to going to the County Ground, especially on a midweek game and normally against a team like Tranmere who, no disrespect, we should be beating.  However tonight is different, as someone mentioned above it is getting like the 2005/06 season which was truely terrible to watch.

I just hope that Town play an attacking formation tonight, get at Tranmere in the opening 10-15 minutes and make a statement to the fans.  We defend like drains at the moment so we might as well go for goals.  Saying that, the fans also need to stand up tonight and give the players and Wilson their backing.

What I am not looking forward to is the inevitable Tranmere taking the lead through a sloppy goal in the opening 10 minutes and all hell breaking loose.

Swindon backed from Evens to 8/11 with a few firms, how bizaare.

Based on our inability to get even a solitary point out of games against Yeovil & Brizzle Rovers I can't see anything other than a Tranmere win (probably 1-0).

However with this being the Town, we are just as likely to win 4-1 (obviously no chance of a clean sheet :D ).

I've got an exam at half nine tomorrow morning, so It's a no from me. I didn't bring my radio back either, so have no means of listening.

I reckon we'll win a close scrappy game 2-1. We'll take the lead in the first half, they'll equalise after 55 minutes, and we'll score a second after 80 minutes. Austin to open the scoring and sheehan to get the second with a free kick

I'm trying to mess with fate. I'm normally optimistic so put a draw down for the Rovers game (that didn't work). I'll try again today by being completely pessimistic and see if that helps?

I reckon we'll beat them well and suddenly the pressure will be eased off Wilson and we'll fall down in the next game (just like what happened at Charlton).

And we'll all be smug because JFW missed it.

William Hill have good odds - Charlie score first, and Swindon win 2-1. Odds 28/1
Thats my fiver for tonight then.
Then again I have been betting that combination all season. Finally came up at the Sheff Wed game so that has covered the same stake for a few weeks yet
Time before that it came up, it was Sam Parkin scoring first......

Caddis - Cuthbert - Frampton - Sheehan

                  Douglas - Ferry

    Dossevi   -    Prutton   -   Ritchie

                       Austin

Not bad, but McGovern's supply was one of the plus points of the 2nd half at Rovers, we looked far better with 2 up than with Austin alone, and if Amankwaah's fit (he played the WPS game) he should replace Caddis.

What a difference a year makes, exactly a year to the day we smashed Leeds 3-0 in front of a full house which was probably the best performance of last season.

Fast forward a year and we are at the bottom of the table and Wilson is coming under pressure.

A narrow Town victory tonight. As long as we don't play the negative 4-5-1.

Disharmony in the squad....little cliques...Austin, Morrison wanting out, some favouring iPhone others Blackberry....we may have to write off this month results wise, clear out a few bodies, get in some new ones and just do enough to stay up in the rermaining 3 and bit.

It's difficult to know what's best.

Pick your best team & stick with it so at least the players can get used to playing together, or keep making changes to try and get a team that seems to play well together.

Have to say this team does look a bit like Panic stations.

Lecs couldn't get near the starting line-up for ages, and is now suddenly a better left back than Sheehan.

Don't understand how Ferry and/or Prutton are behind Timlin (who we let go on loan as he wasn't going to get in the team until we had injuries).

That said, I hope that DW proves everyone (including me) wrong again like he did with the team selection at the valley.

I saw Tony Warner's one appearance as a Swindon player at the County Ground. A 1-0 win over Bradford, Steve Cowe scoring a nice little effort.

Back in '97 mind.

Of course I'm interested, the fact remains he can look excellent for some of the game and then commits an horendous error which often leads to the opposition scoring! Remind you of someone currently playing in Scotland?

I agree. You could argue that the reason Wilson hasn't made any 'senior' signings is due to the fact that the writing could be on the wall for him.

Saying that, they would have axed him by now.

Hmmmm...not sure what to say about that really. We weren't all that great. Tranmere were very poor. Resorted to time wasting and getting booked in the last 10 minutes.

Still looked a bit shaky at the back. Amankwaah wasn't great, looked a bit nervous towards the end. Cuthbert also had a few moments. Frampton was pretty solid as was Lecsinel and Sheehan.

Douglas was the same old solid head. Had one shot he should have put on target but we all know he'll never score. McGovern tried hard but didn't do much at the right end of the pitch. Timlin was ok, but lacks a bit of pace at times. O'Brien was amusing! He had a few decent runs and almost scored with a header! But he seems to like going inside when he should be hugging the touchline. Not sure whether he's been told to do that or just doesn't want the ball.

Dossevi worked hard but sometimes maybe too hard. Charlie was just Charlie. Had a few moments including a crazy mental shot which hit the bar from a really tight angle.

My biggest worry is that we looked pretty toothless up front. We don't just need a replacement for Charlie, we need another forward too.

Oh well, home to Wales!

Yeah, just under 7,000 tonight, not surprising really.
Didn't play too badly, were the better side but lacked any attacking ability.
Austin didn't look interested, missed a penalty, but did have a couple of good efforts in the 2nd half.
O'Brien looked good when he came on, getting stuck in and making good runs.
I reckon Wilson fired him up before he came on by whispering in his ear "I fucked your Mum you Irish cunt"

Timlin played well and Dossevi worked hard but we were lacking any real creativity.

Missed the bloody bus by a minute.

I thought we played fairly well albeit with no real cutting edge. Lecs was excellent, aob bright when he came on but we really needed the three points today, a clean sheet is no longer enough. Another day, better luck and the pen goes in but the club needed a win tonight.

Oh, and I made myself the DRS throw in specialist.

We were ok. Nothing special really. We were shocking first half but looked a little better 2nd and passed the ball around a bit. We had a few chances and if Austin had been bothered maybe we would have got the win. A clean sheet is good at last but lets not deny that Tranmere were pretty poor.

Title: Re: Swindon v Tranmere Official Matchday Thread
Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 22:11:49
We defended very very well and had to

Had to compete with the physical side which we did well especially in the second half

difficult to recover from missing the penalty but we kept at it well

over all I think that the clean sheet is the biggest positive we've had

Phil's concentration levels to pull off last minute save top drawer. Bit of a surprise they had their shot

He had to make changes to be seen to be doing something and shake stuff up. He has a squad of players for a reason. Today the back four did very well. whoever thought they're in the team no matter what - they're not. It has to be the squad which turns this round.

Timlin had a fantastic game, gave the team a good balance. He's been a bit unlucky to be out the side but he's come back and made a statment.

One thing you ask for is hardwork and we got that today, maybe a bit more quality but a good shift.

Charlie steps up you expect it to hit the back of the net, but that's how things go sometimes. Not sure if it was a good save. Got around today. Took a chance and unfortunate to hit the bar.

and my radio just cut out. You'll have to sum up the rest of the interview yourselves.

Title: Re: Swindon v Tranmere Official Matchday Thread
Post by: Summerof69 on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 22:12:10
Could've been better. How the ball stayed out when it hit their player from a yard out just before half time, I do not know.

Jennings should have been sent off for a two footed lunge on Frampton (it reminded me of when Sheehan was sent off earlier in the season) in the first half, and was then booed throughout the match. We didn't even get a free-kick !!

At least we kept our first clean sheet in the league since September.

Just back. Difficult to be too angry with the players as this was an improvement, but we really are shit at the moment. Tranmere were terrible and a better side would have taken them apart.

I thought Cuthbert and Doughlas were fucking useless in the first half but improved after the break. Big Kev looked rusty and Austin tried but it's just not going for him at the moment. O'Brien (Forrest Gump) had is best 15 minutes for us and I wouldn't mind him starting against Exeter.

The attendence sounded dodgy to me as there couldn't have been more than 5500 there.

Still, a clean sheet is a clean sheet.

LJF still in the side  :doh:worth at least one goal to the opposition every time he plays!Simply awful.
Except tonight when he was pretty good. And a similar yah boo sucks to whoever it was who moaned about Timlin starting, cos he also played well. Not sure about MOtM but first half he and Dossevi were our liveliest players. (Dossevi was a bit headless chicken, but he was lively).

Crap result, much improved performance. Solid at the back, not too bright up front, quite impressed with LJF, Mancs and Timlin. And, bizarrely, O'Brien who really put a creative spark in the side when he came on. If he played like that every week, I think we'd all be able to see what the management apparently see in him.

Think we got a glimpse tonight of "life after Charlie" because for the majority of the game, he may as well not have been there. He did liven up in the last 5 mins or so and that was a cracking shot that hit the bar, if only because he managed to dig it out from a very tight angle. I refuse to think about the penalty.

Tranmere were absolute shite and we were marginally better. They were there for the taking but we couldn't do it. The 1st half was dreadful and the midfield were an absolute shambles. The 2nd half was better but we could have played all night and not scored. Both JPM and Ritchie were shit. Cuthberts distribution is getting as bad as Ifills.
Despite the fact it was a 6 pointer and we were at home, it felt like we were the away team. We didn't commit people forward and the movement in the 1st half was non existent.
We really are very poor. 1 point against 3 piles of shite is relegation form.

Timlin deserved his MOM just on his 2nd half performance alone, great energy and looks like he is playing for the shirt which is great to see. For me, JPM is, and has been all season a shadow of the player he was last season - his attempt to tackle Jennings after he ghosted past Cuthbert was embarassing.Although not at his best tonight, Douglas for me would be our next biggest loss when Austin moves on so we need some decent signings to keep Douglas onboard and interested.
Great pace from Andy-No-Brain, but please lets not kid ourselves that he is a footballer. If as its been rumoured there were 20 odd scouts in the stand tonight, lets hope they include someone from the Irish Olympic sprint coaching team as they would snap him up.
Ironic dont you think that Austin's last game in a town shirt will be remembered for a penalty miss - no hard feelings from me mind tbh.

I think it's just a confidence thing. We look like a team low on confidence. Players not wanting the ball, making hurried passes, a lack of movement, and some of our boys resorting to hoofball.

I don't know what the answer is, but let's get some new faces in and take it from there.

Tranmere were shit, ref missed a lot, fans were great considering the situation.

Be interesting to see the actual stats on that game because i think they had there fair amount of chances aswell and apart from the pen i can't remember the keeper making a save.

Anyone who thinks we should of mullered them needs there head checking. As for life after charlie we are fucked because say what you like he basically created his own chances tonight.

I'd say it was largely two teams not wanting to lose the game rather than two teams trying to win it. We did get better as the game went on and looked by far the most likely, but never really create much.

Just remembered, Wilson said the Flint deal isn't actually quite finalised yet - he ain't registered with us, but he has been training with us. Seems a couple of points to iron out with between the Chairman.

0-0 versus a tiresome bunch of long ball luddites who are definitely in the worst six sides in this mediocre division.
I think we were just as bad, seemed to play it too long most of the time.  AOB was looking good on the wing but went missing time and time again - and he was only for the last 20 minutes.  His pace frightens defenders, he should stay on the left wing and get into the box, not wander inside.

perhaps we should put alan o brien up front he has got pace, playing football is getting us nowhere at the moment, lets play the old fashonied way of long ball hit and hope.
we might get a result

??? That is the way we are playing at the moment and it doesn't work for us! We get bullied by physical sides and have no countermeasure, when we do get the ball on the floor there are glimpses (very small ones  :)) that we can outpass teams and create chances.

There have been a lot of comments on the radio that this was a much improved performance over the last few games,  :hmmm: maybe, but I think Tranmere being equally as poor might have had something to do with that.

He had three or four chances Dean.....should have scored the penalty.
Not saying we should have mullered them.....but the defence take shit when we play bad...........the attack should have won us the game tonight.

I didn't say it was a good performance.

We should have mullered them as they are really really shit and we had a huge amount of the second half in control of the ball attacking.

Anyway

Here's the stats according to the bbc

 Possession
Swindon55% Tranmere45%

Attempts on target
Swindon3 Tranmere3

Attempts off target
Swindon9 Tranmere5

Corners
Swindon6 Tranmere5

Fouls
Swindon8 Tranmere9

Thing is lee he created those chances bar the penalty there was not one clear cut chance. Agree about about the defence that was the one positive tonight i just looked at the stats we had the same amount on target as them and only 3 more off target and hardly any more posssesion.

I really don't think we were  much better than them as some are saying.

Much better than I was expecting and if we'd have anything like a break in the 2nd half we would have won it.  Some totally random thoughts - Crowd were very quiet to start with but got into it about 5 minutes before the penalty.  Charlie missing ensured it stayed flat as a pancake until half time but I thought we got behind the lads in the 2nd half.  We definately upped the pace and there were a couple of build ups that were pretty slick although ended in sod all or really shit balls into the box.  Defensively we were better but still had our moments with Phil Smith not anticipating a Cuthbert back header which ended with a Tranmere corner and Phil having a pop at Cuthbert. Good to see Frampton directing things at the back and hopefully he'll stay fit.   Charlie didn't seem at the races in the first half but had a fairly large Tranmerian lump stood on him for most of the match.  Halfway through the second half he was back to his usual self winning headers and getting into decent shooting positions.  It was a bit sad noone sang "Charlie Charlie Austin" when he hit the bar but I guess that's what putting in a transfer request gets you.  He still is the only striker we have that has any poise and awareness and we will struggle like shit if he goes.  Dossevi put in a great shift but is too easily shoved off the ball.  He had a couple of great chances but never looked like converting them.  Alan O Brien needs to be told to stay glued to the touchline because he made a difference when he skinned their left back.  Anywhere else on the pitch he's a bloody useless liability with no football brain - he shot when he should have crossed, crossed when he should have shot and towards the end was fannying around in the inside left channel when Douglas and Sheehan were looking for the pass out wide. Timlin was a worthy MoM as he got stuck in and didn't give the ball away as much as the rest of them.  Douglas - mostly passed backwards or sideways and only sprang to life in the last 20 minutes.  Still can't shoot sadly.  Big Kev was OK going forward but very ropey in defence as Jennings seemed to play most of the game unmarked.  That said he did a brilliant block from a Jennings attempt in the first half.  Lecs was fine although gave me the shits with some fancy dan passing across our penalty area at times.  Ritchie was OK and JPM the same but you'd want a a lot more from these players.  Tranmere had definately come for the point and were lucky the ref didn't think desperate sliding lunges worthy of bookings, or they would have ended with 9 men on the pitch.  At the end of it, I'm feeling more positive about Exeter and hope if it has to be Charlie's last game, he goes out in style with a hat trick.  I think tonight's game shows he needs to stay with us until the summer.COYR

just back from game - not much to add to whats been said except I thought Lecs played a brilliant game and looked disappointed to be taken off - Sheehan never really got into it.

Manks looked rusty but good to see him back - i think he's better than Caddis. More active and commited going forward, even though he never quite got it under control tonight

Dossevi will, I am sure, one day disappear up his own arse with his constant 360 degree turning - he is obviously a good player at some level but looks still totally out of his depth trying to cope with the long ball shit we hit to him when he is man marked by a bloke twice as big as him - but his effort cannot be faulted and with better service he will shine some time.

One day I will see O Brien actually find a team mate with a cross. But I fear I may be old and grey by the time he does. His pace is staggering but his inability to deliver a decent final ball must be whats kept him at this level. he just seems to hit crosses without ever looking up - maybe at that speed there is no point in looking up as everything is a blur.

Interesting to see Charlie applauding crowd in all four corners on his way off, and as he disappeared down the tunnel he made eye contact with a lot of people in Arkells enclosure and waved a wave that definitely said "bye bye"

another interesting aside was at half time - their subs came out and went through pre-arranged drills passing and sprinting, whereas ours, led by Ferry, just seemed content to try to hit the pitch announcer on the back of the head and giggle like kids
. Also WIll Evans conducted the whole half time warm up with his hands in his pockets......... OK he knows its unlikely he will get on anytime soon but the difference between our subs and theirs was noticebale

Like most things STFC and TEF, the reaction is extreme one way or the other. I'm firmly in the DRS camp - that was shit, just slightly less shit than last week.

And for all the love the defence are getting, they were denied a stonewall penalty and created just as many clear cut chances we did.

Their fans should be far happier than ours tonight.

I remember earlier in the season when Ferry was injured and not involved he was running along the front of the Arkells stand back and forth with what looked like 14/15 year olds. It looked like he was playing hide and seek or tig or something.

Well that was certainly better, far from brilliant but far from awful.

I guess the main positive was the clean sheet and the effort from the players. They all put their shift in last night, even if the skill wasnt there.

I thought Frampton was good, as was Timlin and Dossevi impressed - his work rate was top notch and his play with his back to goal wasnt bad, shame he never looked threatening. It reminded me in a way of Lee Peacock, cant fault the work ethic even if the rest leaves alot to be desired.

LJF looked accomplished, dunno why he was taken off. Amankwaah looked like a guy who hasnt played first team football in mouth which is exactly what we was, some good bad.

Douglas passing was well off last night, Ritchie went missing. JPM hard work not alot else. Charlie meh, the effort was there, mind was else where, shit penalty.

O'Brien looked good when he came on. I think the main reason is the fact we actually seemed to play the ball infront of him. Play to his bloody strengths its not rocket science. Previous when he's played with Rose behind him all Rose did was knock it into his feet, which is pretty pointless.

It was better. The people texting in after the game were embarrassing though. Alot of 'guess that will shut the boo boys up' and 'hope that proves the wilson doubters wrong' hang about we just drew 0-0 with fucking Tranmere - thats still not good enough is it? even with the better display 1 point from Yeovil, Rovers and Tranmere isnt good enough. A 0-0 fucking draw with Tranmere is nothing for the happy clappers to take the moral high ground with.

Even a win on saturday and a points return of 4 from Yeovil, Rovers, Tranmere and Exeter isnt good enough.

Timlin was mom. Did the simple things well. Cuthbert kept hoofing it. We've missed Frampton and his leadership skills.

Same starting eleven for Sat, but Pericard in for Austin. I would say new signing but is that actually going to happen??!

yeah it wasn't great but it was an improvement on Yeovil and may install a bit more confidence in the players given the fact they weren't booed off. No-one is kidding themselves that it was great by any stretch and it isn't a performance that has papered over the cracks. We still know we need around 5 new signings. Some people seem intent on focusing on the negatives (and probably even wish that we would have lost) in the hope that Wilson gets sacked and we'll get someone in who performs miracles and we end up in the play-offs. I got news for you, it aint happening.

My thoughts, fwiw

On the radio after they were talking about the most one sided 2nd half they have ever seen...fuck me we werent that good? Lots of huffing and puffing but dont think we were really that threatening.
If a 0-0 draw against them is considered as progress, fuck me we are shite.

Dossevi - sure hes a nice guy an' all that, puts in a shift an' all that, but lets face it, he aint gonna score in a million years, and to be honest he link up play isnt that great. Is he just a mate of a mate or something thats been given a game for a crack?

As for the AoB, agree with Donzo, drfited inside way too much, his main, no, only asset is pace...he should be glued to that touch line. Saying that, much to my surprise, caused quite a threat when he came on....

Cant be arsed to talk about the others...but, though Frampton did well, lecs good etc etc

Just a word on the atmos as well (which is currently dire, and has been mentioned previously)...unless you are super fans, I think atmos is generated in one of two scenarios, a good team, with a string of results, good team spirit on the up...OR....a shit team, with shit players in a relegation battle BUT with good team spirit and the crowd on their side, all in it together and all that...

But what we have is a reasonable team, seriously underachieiving, and the crowd are pretty much in a depressed form of shock = shit atmos.

What a fucking boring post eh.

First half was a big pile of woeful nervousness....

Only highlight for me was the Team sheet and Prutton being dropped....at fucking last!!

Missed the pen......shame....i cannot believe there were numpties around me saying he meant to miss!!  FFS!!!  Idiots!

Second half we threw the lot at em........and it didnt happen....

We could still be out there now.....

AND...if anybody didnt have that sinking feeling before last nights game, then have it now, cos when you are a poor side and play well, try hard and get nowt....you are doomed.

I felt for the fuckers last night...

Lets hope we can kick on....i do not believe a new manager would make a difference at this point. But maybe some new faces would...trouble is, when you are shit and teetering on the brink....whos going to come here???

Keep the faith.......Cmon you reds...

See you Saturday and Tuesday night...chin up Flash...

was Vince injured last night, or just not considered good enough for the bench? Good job we didnt have an injury to Charlie or Dosser, or we might have had no striker to bring on.
If he isnt injured, then it was a  risk by DW.

Still dont think he should start Sat if CA is still with us. Dosser beginning to show some form last night and Charlie hasnt stopped trying, he is just out of form, which may or may not be because his head is at the Blackpool illuminations.

Growing to like Frampton more every time I see him. Would be nice if he stayed beyond end of season, but if we take the drop I can see players like him heading for the hills real fast.

I'm not of the opinion of others on here that Ritchie had a mare - in first half he worked really hard tracking back and the move he had to make to other wing to accomodate O Brien seemed to put him off his game, and he drifted out of the action too much in second half trying too hard to get back in

I just wanted to say watching the game while listening to music and not listening to the groans and what not of the crowd makes the game a lot more fun. I found I was able to be more objective and enjoyed the game for the first time in quite some time. We didn't play badly and it was a shame we only drew.

I hope we can shift Austin asap. He didn't play badly and still worked hard, but his mind is clearly elsewhere. (I also can't wait to see the back of that turncoat cunt. :D)

I think the main thing is the defence looked a lot more assured. Lecs looked good at LB and Manks did well down the right. I didn't think Timlin was MOM last night, but thinking about it this morning, I've changed my mind. He worked tirelessly and played some neat passes.
AOB did well when he came on, I just wish he would stay wide!! What is that about?!
Charlie was unlucky on a couple of occasions and bar that instance when he seemed to have a little panic about an injury I don't think he can come under too much criticism.
Thought the chants of you're not going anywhere were a bit odd.. Way to try and alienate a player we may still have next week.

Oh and if you were sat in The Town End, Row N in the 30's with your missus. You are a twat.

He did cut inside more than he should have done and for no apparent reason. But credit where it's due, he looked lively and presented a threat down the left. One of his best games in a Town shirt IMO. Admittedly, that's not a high bar, but I'd rather encourage for what he did well when he does it

you should've heard the crap he was coming out with last night too. Oh and booing Wilsons decision to take off an injure LJF. Retard. "Oh look he's going straight down the tunnel, I don't

Some fat prick did the same down the front of the town end, and started shouting Wilson Out. There are some fucking clueless cretinous fans about.

Check this beauty out:

Ive supported this club since the 80's, NEVER in all of my years of followin Swindon have I remembered seenin such a pathetic uninterested side play in such a pathetic uninterested way, Sack Wilson and sack the squad b4 we end up in the non-leagues, I truely believe that this could well b the beginning of the end if we arnt careful

Now, I'm not saying last night was great by any stretch. But to come out with that?!!? What goes on in peoples heads??!?

Is that right? Because I'm known for my constant slating of players. How often did he recieve the ball when he cut inside and ended up behind Sheehan? Please, tell me.

About twice?......but how many times did he get in the box and create..a lot more than any other player.....you choose to look at the negative in him.......he played well last night.
I get your point but dont think it matters ware he runs....wide or infield....as long as he gets in the box.

Some of the spelling leaves a lot to be desired

Had a bit of a spur of the moment thing going on. Caught up with leefer and Boo in the Town End eventually. First half a bit shit, but improved in the 2nd. Some nice play going on at the back and a clean sheet, so an improvement in that. LJF had a good game, disappointed he went off. AoB did reasonably well when he came on, if only he could dig out some decent crosses
We should have won the game, but when your luck's out...................

Woah woah woah. What did you just say about AOB?!!?! Shame on you.

I think LJF was injured wasn't he? But yeah he had a great game back at LB. I remember seeing him going over to the bench during when stoppage and then shortly after he was subbed off.

if people who want wilson out are cretins-idiots-mongs etc, what are people who want him to stay?
i'm starting to think the longer he stays, the bigger our chances of relegation.
now i dont really want a change of manager for the sake of it,but i'm not seeing signs of wilson turning it around.
we should just about stay up,but then again i wouldn't be surprised if we were relegated.

The clean sheet is a start. Even though we should be beating teams like tranmere at home and as ppl have said 1 point from brizzle yeovil and tranmere is dire but a win against exeter turns into 4 from 6 points which is more than i would of expected us to get in our current form.

Dw is a very lucky man to still have his job and last night result even though not the right one was still more than we've got from them in the last 2 games.

Agree with the general consensus about last night performance being a clear improvement.

When confidence is so low we were never going to come out and issue out a 3 or 4 goal spanking.  Its about small steps when the situation is so fragile, last night was an improvement and on Saturday if we see the same increase on tonight’s performance then I’m confident we can win.

I actually thought we got some lucky breaks last night.  The penalty decision (not even close to be a penalty so I guess justice was done) and the Tranmere shot which hit the post and thankfully the rebound was kind for us.

I'll just add my thoughts. That was my first game since Charlton and the obvious lack of confidence in some players was truly shocking.Im soory to say that Cuthbert looks completely shot to pieces.Frampton was the pick of the back four and, dare I say, looked something like the nearest we've had to a Greer-like leader if he can stay fit.LJF had a half decent game,Timlin was a deserved MOTM who I thought showed what Prutton seems to lack-motivation,determination and passion.Austin looked half-arsed to me and everyone else apart from Smithy was awful.Worst game I've seen Douglas have,he also seemed to be one of the worst sufferers of a lack of confidence.By the way,how shit were Sheehan's free kicks?OB's was an entertaining cameo but not having seen Yeovil,Oldham or Rovers, the decline in performance was worrying.Tranmere were terrible but having beaten Soton on saturday, they must have something about them.Cheating little prick 21(was it Jennings?)who was laying prostrate in the 6 yard box pretending to be injured then sprang to life when the ball arrived was a diving little shit. However it seemed like 2 dropped rather than 1 gained although maybe some green shoots of recovery?

if people who want wilson out are cretins-idiots-mongs etc, what are people who want him to stay?

Sensible realists....very few managers, are always successful, look at the examples. Just a couple off the top of the head...Ancelotti, double last season, flying start this, then it all goes pear shaped. Why?

Look at the fella down the road....they've twice had completely shit spells when their mongs have called for his head, but he's been allowed to manage, and they're in their highest spot for years.

Quite simply Wilson because of his previous work has earned the opportunity to sort this window, he's lost a centre half but brought in Flint, he will lose Austin but deserves the chance to bring in a couple of players with some of the funds. If at the end of the season, which is relatively close, we see no progress or get relegated he should not be given a new contract. Then a new man or woman can be brought in.

The happy clappers coming out of the woodwork on BBC Radio Swindon last night were laughable. The way they were going on you would have thought we had beat top of the league 5-0, not drawn at home to Tranmere.

If Austin is not replaced, I think we will go down. In 08/09 we had the goals of Simon Cox to save us, along with a decent input from Paynter. This year we look like going into the second half of the season with a Dossevi-Pericard partnership. Dossevi tried last night but was out of his depth. I really don't know where the goals are going to come from.

Worrying that Wilson thinks it will only be 'someone' coming in instead of 2/3 players that are needed. His lack of activity in the transfer market is going to cost us.

I don't think a new man will see much improvement at this stage in the season, the current squad isn't up to it, but I think Wilson has to go at the end of the season. 3 targets, none met = gone.

I thought the most positive thing about last night was that it was actually a decent game. First time Ive seen some entertainment at a ground for weeks. Although the crowd was quiet, the fans did stay with the team, which is also positive.

Amankwaah does a lot more running off the ball than Caddis. Caddis is good on the ball, and he's a skillful player, but he's far too happy to stand about on the half way line when we are attacking. You need the full backs rampaging up the field to get real pressure on.

I cant believe Lescinel backheeled the ball towards his own 18 yard box. That is defender suicide, and he was lucky to get away with it. Lescinel is a very skilful player, and 90% of the stuff he does is very good. But he's always likely to do something crazy. We cant afford the risks he takes at the moment, we are very fragile.

Dossevi works extremely hard. But he needs more shooting practice. Can you imagine him on his own up front? We must sign 2 strikers this transfer window.

O'Brien did alright. But he's not a footballer and he doesnt have a clue what he's doing.

He was under contract at Carlisle, who offered him a new contract as he'd scored 4 in 8 or similar. They were genuinely gutted to lose him at the time...sadly the best thing we've got from him was that video some Carlisle fan made...

At the time he was scoring some goals, was being offered a deal by Carlisle and we needed someone to provide cover in the run up to crunch time of a promotion push.  It didn't work out, he'll leave on a free eventually and we'll all get on with our lives.  Offering what we did was the right decision at that time, it looks wrong now, but so does the idea of invading Poland.

It just about sums up how dire things are when there's a level of excitement about a 0-0 home draw with Tranmere.  yes, it may have been a slightly better performance than the last few games, but let's be honest Tranmere were fairly awful.  A better team would have walked away with 3 points at ease.

Not going to go over the match in any detail, as everything has been covered.  Nobody stood out as being awful last night, although there were some shocking passes at times.  The main issue lies with the fact that we don't seem capable of playing as a unit or having any real spark about us.

I honestly can't see where we go from here.  It appears that last night's result has given Wilson a stay of execution, but quite frankly at the moment the only place I can see him taking us is League 2.

It seems certain that Austin will be gone by Saturday and it's looking less and less likely we'll have somebody in to replace him, let alone the other 3 or 4 players we need.  Pericard has appareantly injured his knee, so that would leave us with Dossevi and Billy Bodin.

We never do any better than a draw against Exeter, so assuming that happens it will give us 5 points out of the last 21.  How anybody can think that is remotely acceptable is beyond me? As you may have noticed I've slightly lost the will  :(

We all have' to some degree.....just feel that its all best to wait untill the seasons end and go from there.

On another night Charlie would have scored four.....missed pen,hit the bar,one of the line and a couple of other half chances...bottom line is if the penalty had gone in we would be sitting two points better off and a little happier most probably.

Fact is though that his first touch is poor, his passing is pretty crap and the only thing he's good for is sprinting. He should hug the touch line and look for balls to run on to. It'll be far more affective and every time he cut inside he was never in a decent position to recieve the ball.

Thems the facts buddy. :D
