Title: Pakistan match fixing
Post by: Summerof69 on Saturday, September 4, 2010, 19:24:33
I now think it deserves it's own thread.

More revelations in tomorrows NotW including a member of the Pakistan team saying that his team-mates are cheats, and the three players that have been charged face 23 charges from the ICC, and the money that the NotW have the fixer, some of that money has been traced to Salman Butt.

I'll like to know how the ICC can let Pakistan continue playing cricket ...

Me too. It's all a bit of a mess and a bit of a joke really.

Yasir Hameed eh? Funny how the only one who seems to be able to take a catch is speaking out, can't imagine the ones who actually aren't bent are terribly chuffed with their teammates.

Isn't there a T20 tomorrow? Could be a bit of farce.

You get free hits for no ball bowling in T20.....should be interesting.

Personally I've worked on the assumption that Pakistan cricket is bent, for years. Part of the fun is seeing how it manifests itself, and whether they're trying to win to throw a game.

I just caught another statement at the Pakistan High commission, saying that Yasir Hameed was misquoted, etc. I've watched the video on the news probably 3 or 4 times, and he is talking like he knows that there is something dodgy going on. In the intervirw you can tell he was pissed off whilst his teammates were throwing games.

I want to get this one-day series out of the way. The sooner the ICC puts a temporary ban on Pakistani cricket the better, until this is all sorted out.

In that case he should have spoken out before the games were thrown...my feeling is that the whole team were involved.

They did donate their win bonuses for the third test win to the flood aid...which is probably less than they got for their other activities...

What a terrific abdication of responsibility, I haven't seen one that good since...well, actually since Pietersen got narky about being dropped.

What total BS. Pakistan cricket now needs to be suspended, and hopefully the ICC wil have the balls to do it, and get rid of people like Ijaz Butt out of the PCB.

I understand South Africa are having second thoughts about playing Pakistan next month in UAE.

i think Butt's (snigger) comments are retarded, "i was just saying what i heard" effectively in front of the world is ridiculous

And insinuating that his own team could only possibly have won if England were cheating. Cracking motvation there Ijaz.

I see the Pakistan Three have been banned by the ICC for 5 years each, a few days after they were told they were being charged...of course, that's only if they turn up next month at a police station in London.

What's the odds they won't ?

Asif and Butt both found guilty, the latter on more serious charges.

Could be a serious jail term, which if passed would be pretty momentous in terms of Sports corruption.

Amir makes it all 3!

Hopefully Butt and Asif will get a nice long jail term. I still cannot believe that they, nor some Pakistanis, think they are innocent. It's nice to hear that Amir has held his hands up and admitted his guilt.

Corruption isn't uncommon in Pakistani officialdom*. Its kind of part of the accepted culture. So I guess many aren't so bothered as they are use to it.

* according to my ex boss of Pakistani origin.
