Whatever happens tomorrow I am immensely proud of what has been achieved this season. Also, the way the club has been turned round since January 08 when Mr Fitton and co. took over is nothing short of incredible. Adidas kits, 442, EA Sports and Samsung as shirt sponsers. Ground redevelopment on the way,... great schemes and building bridges with the community, Borough Council and big clubs around the country. There has never been a better time to be a Swindon fan (not in my 20 years of support especially!.)

We havnt won a single tackle or header, we are second to every ball & millwall are easily bullying us in midfield. I've never seen us play so poor!
We'd have to be very lucky to get anything out of the second half, can't see anything other than a easy milwall victory

I was thinking at one point that we were trying to keep it tight in the first half, hold out for a 0-0 at half time then wear them down in the 2nd. However, I dont think that is the case.

Our formation looks weak, we are second to the ball all the time and Millwall are pressing us into making silly mistakes.

Austin and Paynter haven't been in the game, other than Paynter winning a couple of free kicks. Ward has been anonymous. Douglas hasn't had any time on the ball. Amankwah's distribution has been poor. LJF has been out of position constantly and slow to the ball. Sheehan has been a little loose. Cuthbert haas been solid enough, except for being dragged out of position for the goal. Lucas doesn't inspire lots of confidence.

Can't see any way back into this, although I thought the same vs Charlton.

Have to agree so far that we can't put more than a couple of passes together. Being bullied off the ball. Currently men versus boys.... Hopefully just down to nerves.... but really need to get that ball to front two.

Think we let ourselves down to be frank, We weren't at the races simple as that, I expected us to play so much better than that, 1st half we were absolutely shocking and that done us in the end  :( :( :( Feel really down and low after that, Really feel for the people who went today as we didn't put on much of a show.

We'll have to do it all again next season, Let's just hope clubs don't start nicking our players because we need to keep this team together to have a chance next season.

Disappointed - BUT - and a big but - although we didn't play to our full potential, we have had a great season and we had to lose at Wembley sometime.

It's re-invigorated my love of STFC.

On the positive side - good riddance to millwall.

Don't get me wrong. They're not immune from criticism but there's no point dwelling on it like the White shirt thread!

Ugh. Fucking hate this feeling. We were very poor today. Just got bullied off the ball. Somehow we scrambled some chances together, but wasted them. Our midfield was a non-event. JFL was the worst player on the pitch by a long stretch.

Just left the ground. Gutted but we were second best all over the field today. Too many Swindon players didn't show up. We missed Greer. Lecs made too many errors and Morruson had a field day up front. Ward was anonymous, and everytime he got the ball was tackled almost immediately. Bolton won't be wanting him back on that showing. JP didn't do much. Not up to his usual and I think the crowd got to Manks. Ferry shrugged off the ball several times.  They played the occasion better than we did.

Douglas was his usual. Just hope we can hang onto him.

Yep Lescinel was awful, He should be released i feel, People might disagree but that's my opinion he's the weak link, Amankwaah was good going forward but looked shaky at the back, Cuthbert was probably our best player.

Jean-Francois has performed much better than I expected when he joined. I expected a Noubissie or Gnapka et al. His conduct was beyond inspiring during the Haiti earthquake.

He's a scapegoat, without doubt, but we could find better.

We were defensively not there in the first half! We only started attacking in the second half.

Really disappointing considering how well we didwith Charlton! We threw it away

I hope many of the new TEF'ers who started contributing during the Play-Offs stick around and keep posting. I know many have been in the shadows a while.

Saw a little bit of aggro with a few lads after the match but I think they were all Town fans who'd had too much pop. No problems with Millwall.

We could do with a bit of a review of the team. We just looked lightweight today. We're gonna need a replacement for Ward, O'Brien is awful.

Need to tighten up at the back too. I'd rather see solid, reliable defenders.

From the TV view, I don't think it is fair to pick our single players.  It simply wasn't a good enough performance by the whole team.  I thought Cuthbert, Sheehan and Lucas had pretty good games, but no-one else looked up to the mark...and that maybe more to do with Millwall closing down our danger men extremely effectively.  Austin had some good touches, as always, but the sharpness wasn't there from anyone.

As for next season, well you just don't judge on this one game....I just hope that, even if Paynter goes, as seems likely, we manage to keep everyone else - even Ward back on loan, and then strengthen with a few more.

But its been a great season...thank to everyone in every part of the club

Millwall knew exactly who to keep out of the game. Paynter, Austin, Ward, Ferry, Douglas...non of them offered anything today because they were all over them like flies over hot shit. They knew O'b was quick, and when he came on he couldn't even get the opportunity to use his pace because they closed him down so quickly - don't care that he can't actually play football, but his pace would have been handy to use.

Lucas, made me laugh. Cuthbert let morrison in once but got back in time to stop more damage, but JPM's deliveries were shocking today.

Millwall didn't let us play the football we wanted to play, other than the five minutes after half time time, and the Wembley pitch needs to be fucking sorted out. I've never thought a pitch, any pitch other than sunday morning, pub pitch, could affect a game - i was fucking wrong. England 2018 - FUCK OFF. If we had scored then, we would have won, their heads would have gone down, and they were already defending deep. Austin misses, and you could immediately see everyones head go down.

On a positive note, i should be a football commentator, every time i gave a fact, comment or opinion on the game, the sky lads would say exactly the same - only 5 minutes later, when it has no affect on the public.

Better team won on the day, we were shit first half. Lesc was out of place, lost concentration just generally bad. Lucas didn't actually have too much to do, and Cuthbert played alright. But, further up the field, nothing. Well played Millwall. I still ove Charlie, and i still love danny, but that fucking cunt earlier in the thread:

When I see LJF out of position it's because he's moved to cover someone else. I think he reads the game pretty well, have a look at the 2nd Charlton goal and he was the only player to see the danger and came close to stopping it.

the thing that annoyed me most about today was the lack of support from the day trippers. There was only about fifty of us singing in our entire block.

Atmosphere was awful (though it was good in the pubs beforehand) - too many daytrippers who ust wouldn't sing. I don't rememeber it being like that in 1993 but maybe that's rose tinted glasses.

To make matters worse I got a smack from a Forest fan after the game a Wembley Stadium station - he was with Swindon fans but had never seen us play before. He was going on about how shit and embarassing we were, how Charlie Austin should never be a professional footballer and should return to being a brickie and how we're not fit to grace the City Ground. I let him know my thoughts but unfortunately there was a slight size difference. Luckily the police stepped in....

Happens to all the small clubs who take significant numbers (nowadays)... Shame there isn't some way of keeping the die-hards together.

biggest disappointment for me today was deffo the quality of support, we gave millwall home advantage with our lack of noise.

only a few of us in and around our block really making the effort, plenty of 'this is shit' and all that coming out of their mouths but no willingness to help the players out, a disgrace, whether people were day trippers or not the way to enjoy a day at wembley is to get involved, we were let down badly today by those people and they'll happily use our defeat as a reason to not come back next season.

as for the game... i cannot believe we got the only booking, countless yellows should have come out for fouls by 'wall and the ref kept laughing them off, the keeper carrying the ball out of the area a prime example, at least a yellow if not a red for that - frazer away at qpr anyone?  blatent shirt tugs, dangerous lunges, harris late on lucas - one mistimed challeng from us and out comes the card - disgracefull.

i'm sure there was a hanball for the goal aswell and the ball was deffo not in the quadren at the corner.

oh well, i'm sure we can build on this season, providing we keep the key players (prob not paynter) i'm confident danny will bring in a good set of fresh blood with the likes of timlin and easton moving on to make way for them.

Regards the bookings, Lesc was correct to be booked, but the ref bottled it for the tackle on douglas around the centre circle and Harris' challenge on Lucas. But their keeper, was never a red, and certainly didn't stop our attacking play , it was just poor keeping, never a card. Harris had too much to say half the time, and their CBS played high-ball well to get the decisions.

yes it was a booking for lecs, i agree but there should have been plenty for them first.

as for the keeper, i've seen cards given plenty of time for that, if he'd have dropped it upon leaving the area there were two town players there ready to pounce, he knew what he was doing.

we didnt turn up today, real shame but cant be too disapointed as we have had a brilliant season, shame about the austin bobble. Millwall were stronger and quicker than us, it looked like a team of under 13s v under 15s.

I only have 2 gripes.....

First the referee and bookings, millwall should have had at least 2 players booked before lescinel was booked, why the fuck harris wasnt booked for kicking the shit out of lucas i dont know?

Secondly, our support was fucking shit today. normally when we take a big away following like to st marys or elland road we are fucking loud and raucous and get behind the team, suppose when you average just over 8000 at home and 33000 turn up for wembley you hope the daytrippers would get behind the team, today they didnt  Disapointing.,

My previous two trips to wembley have been sone of my best days. Today just fizzled out to a frustrating shit.

Sure the defeat, and the manner of it, is disappointing. But overall this season has been one of the most enjoyable in recent memory - much more so that the promotion campaign in L2 for example.

Keep the core of this squad and DW together and there is no reason we can't be challenging at the sharp end next season.

Re the atmosphere - I think Millwall called it right on that. You couldn't really hear singing from across the stadium so any Come on you reds or Danny Wilson's Red and White army never stood a chance of everyone singing together.

Millwall's single note was so loud because everyone joined in and didn't have to be coordinated or know any words.

The trouble is you need the team to get the casual punters going, which they didn't in the first half. I know the belief drained out of me in the opening 45 minutes, and I know I wasn't as pumped up after that either and I'm usually reasonably vocal.

The whole day was flat - rain, poor performance, our fans (guess I have to say myself included). The ref was a minor frustration, but no-one here is kidding ourselves we got anything other than the result we deserved, despite the Austin bobble.

I feel like hiding under a rock for a few days before contemplating next season. On the other hand I am pissed off that we are heading to Sheffield Wednesday, not jizzing in my pants about a trip to fucking Accrington, so it could be worse.

Very true, the concern is trying to keep hold of or replace players like Paynter, Ward, Ferry, Sheehan & Darby.

But to be honest Danny Wilson pulled a few rabbits out of the hat to build this team, let's hope he can do it again.

Whatever happens, we are in a much better state than we were at this time last season.

awful, awful, fucking awful day.

I will start with our 'support' fucking gash, not good gash either - horrible gash. Whilst I didnt sort out my tickets, we were row 9 behind the goal - knowing full well there would be alot of people behind us. 30 seconds 'can you sit down please' fuck sake, its wembley for fuck sake, biggest game for years I didnt come to sit on my hands - but we had to sit down. At one point we had a corner and we stood up, I turned to the people behind me (row 9 there was alot of people behind me) and said something along the sides of sing up you bastards. They were still sat down, plastic day tripping cunts - fuck off.

We literally sung nothing and got out classed by Millwall doing their best spacker impression Milllllllll (...what with the white kit) it was like an away game. The atompshere was awful, probably the worst following ever seen at Wembley ever. I dont even remember a decent song?

The players played like our fans first half, we just kept losing the ball. Sometimes due to Millwall hurrying us and others for no reason what so ever. They won every header and were first to ever second ball. They should have been 3-0 up and celebrating by half time. Amankwaah summed our performance with a bullet header into his own fucking net. We were lucky to only be 1-0 down.

Second half we were better without creating much, think we must have had 2 or 3 chances and Millwall had more than that at the other end.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but I did say it before the game but ask me a million times and I would have started Phil Smith every single time without question, he got us there in the first place.

I thought Lucas probably had his worst STFC game, dropped and flapped at almost everything - it was like watching Brezovan again.

Kevin Amankwaah had the worst game probably of his whole career, the abuse got to him and affected him - he should have come off about 25 minutes in. He been fantastic all season but was a waste of player out there today.

Thought Cuthbert and LJF did alright in the middle, they were up against some good strikers. Sheehan was a bit meh, none of the midfield got alot of time on the ball and Billy and Charlie barely touched the thing. Cant believe Charlie missed, that confirmed it - that was our one chance.

I know again its hindsight, but 1-0 down in a play off final and you take off your top scorer (who is already long gone, on holiday and was rubbish today) but still why? I would have thrown 3 on up, we had nothing to lose. I would have thrown Ward up top and gone 4 upfront, we seemed to fade out - we should have had more of a go. Talking Sheehan and then JPM off was stupid, as they take all our set pieces, we had two corners in injury time and they were both crap in the end. Would have having JPM to take them had made a difference?

Annoyingly shit way to end what as been a great season, but that was an awful day with an awful performance with awful support.

I think most of us know realistically Paynter is going, Sheehan has made no secret of the fact that he wants Championship football, It would be difficult to get Ward on loan again, Not sure if we could get Darby back, Ferry should sign permanently well i hope he does anyway.

Just back. I thought we were crap in the first half against Charlton, but we were even worse today - out-fought and outplayed all over the pitch. Second half we improved, without really looking like scoring apart from Charlie's chance. By Christ that pitch is a disgrace.

Agree with what's been said about the atmosphere - a combination of too many day-trippers and a poor performance. A lot easier for Millwall to make more noise - they were the better team, and they've only got two songs, one of which is just an extended belch (Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllllll)

I think everything's been covered on here. Just a shit performance from the players and fans alike. A few of us in block 128 kept singing but there were too many plastics and empty seats to get anything going. Nothing like atmospheres in 90 or 93 - is it the new Wembley or modern fans?

We froze, simple as. Millwall handled it far better, and deserved the win. As for the crowd, nothing much to get everyone going, so understandable really, Disappointed, but we'll be back next year, of that i'm positive. Well done the board, manager, and players , for an excellent season. Shame we just fell short.

My thoughts:

We were poor in the first half, but improved markedly in the second. Very poor goal to concede but you couldn't sat that it wasn't coming. I feel sorry for Charlie, but the ball did take a massive bobble just as he was about to strike it...even though no one around me saw it. Millwall players closed our players down quicker that we did them and kept our important players quiet for large parts of the game and we wasn't able to counter that. Morison was the big danger, but I thought Cuthbert was our best player by far, and kept him quiet for large parts.

Even though we lost, who would've thought we would've been here after getting beaten by the Pikeys on the opening day of the season.

And for Charlie...Keep your head up high, because without you we wouldn't have got their in the first place.

douglas and cuthbert can sleep tonight knowing they didn't let themselves or the side down. the others were a total disappointment - jean francois was terrible, amankwaah was like a nervous kitten, ward couldn't stand up straight... i could keep going on and on.

but the lads did well to get to the final, we've had a good season and it's gutting to lose the way we did. millwall knew what to expect today, they knew how to deal with the occasion and did so.

So frustrated, absolutley gutted. I just dont think these opportunities come around very often and it may be a while before we get that chance again. Although, the board are building a strong platform for us to challenge agian and if we can keep the core of our team and add a bit more depth then i see no reason why we cant challenge next year.

What a fantastic season though, everyone at the club has done themsleves proud. We have achieved so much, we just need to build on it.

I think the game has been summed up well.

First half JPM was too narrow leaving Amankwaah isolated. For that reason Kev never had an option, and although he was poor today I think people are failing to take that into account. Second half JPM stuck out wide for 10 minutes and we had our best spell with Kev overlapping him and causing their defence some problems. We looked good for one or two spells when we played our usual game. Unfortunately the neat moments of football were few and far between. As for the support, I think it would have been better had the team looked slightly threatening, but it was still poor.

I'm not going to get too upset. I didn't expect us to get to the final and I knew it could go either way today. For Charlie to miss like that is absolutely gutting - he was distraught after the game. Haven't seen a replay yet but if the bobble is as bad as people say then he can't punish himself for it.

Still, next season looks promising. Look how much we improved over the course of last summer! Hopefully Danny can pull in a few more gems and give us a very strong team for next season.

Not read through the thread yet but the whole day out at Wembley was fantastic for me, just a shame about the outcome of the game. Well done to the players, back room staff etc for getting us that far though.

The biggest disappointment for me, was knowing that we didn't play like we can.  To be fair, Millwall are a very hard side to break down, and Ward & Robinson won almost everything in the air, but there were some sub-par performances (McGovern, Amankwaah, Ward...) and we never really seemed to get into the game until after half time. Austin was unfortunate with his chance, but it would've been harsh on Millwall had that ball not sat up.

He held the ball up well today and got the rest of his team into the game.  

Our midfield was none existent and i'd like to see Wilson bring a new cm in with Douglas.  Ferry has been really good this season but we need a centre midfielder who can run forward and score goals.  Douglas is a really good holding midfielder and we just need someone decent to partner him

Overall its been a great season and glad to have the chance to go to wembley and enjoy a season.

Hopefully we will be there or there abouts next season and hopefully fitton will give wilson the necessary money to improve our squad

Heartbroken. Though its not hurting as bad as Brighton did because today it was clear we were 2nd best. But the writing was on the wall early, we never got going. Cuthbert and Douglas the honourable exceptions to a truly piss poor performance.

That felt like a 'normal ' league match loss today. I'm not that upset, just unhappy that we didn't play to the standard that we have been for most of the season. A goal would have been nice. Chin up Charlie, that would have gone in if it had been in front of the Town End.

So a couple of months off, time to catch up with DIY stuff and all that. Then back to a nice quiet County Ground Hotel and proper fans in August. Oh and some wicked away days too. Can't wait.

Our main undoing today was the same as plenty of other games this season - up against a physical team and we just can't handle it. It shows up markedly in the stats, with us conceding a lot less free kicks than Millwall then add on to that all the little pushes, shoves, pulling that aren't penalised by the ref and it makes a big difference over 90 minutes. Not criticising Millwall for the way they play as it works but we really need to get better at handling it.

I really hope Austin isn't beating himself up over the miss. Bobble or not, shit happens. His goals got us to the playoffs and he's had an amazing first season and no one should allow today to detract from that, especially himself. If it had gone in though I reckon we'd have got another and won as Millwall were on the verge of collapsing at that point, though they recovered towards the end.

The atmosphere was terrible. Whilst the fans have to take some of the blame for that to be fair, there was very little to get excited about over the 90 minutes. Having less fans and some big gaps can't have helped - I'd be interested to know why there were massive gaps in the decent Club Wembley seats as these were showing as sold out pretty early on when they obviously weren't.

All in all I had a great day though and its been an even better season. The new Wembley is the best ground I've been to and just being able to watch Swindon play there made it a great day, even though the game itself wasn't so great. We've more than exceeded expectations for the season so there is nothing to complain about, its a pity we're not going up but its not going to detract from the day or the season for me.

Looking forward to next season. We'll be losing a good few players but Wilson has proved himself in the transfer market so I'm expecting some more miracles from him. Pretty certain come the start of next season all the players will be his (either he signed them or gave them an extension), so we'll see what he really is capable of.

As for Charlie's miss, I got a text about ten seconds after, the ball bobbled up about ten inches, the commentators were going ape about it

Today pretty much cost me the price of a season ticket-money badly spent,the way I look at it.

So disappointing. Spent the best part of 2 weeks building up to today and we didn't do ourselves justice at all, either on the pitch or in the stands.

Day started well enough though, got to Wembley at 11.30 and headed for the high street, couldn't get in The Greyhound as it was full so ended up in Speakeasy. More of a bar/club than a pub but full of Swindon and easy enough to get served, had a decent sing song aswell.

I was even enjoying the build up to kick-off inside the ground, but once the game started everything went to shit. On the pitch we were second best in every department, off it we couldn't get any songs going at all. Behind me in block 126 there was a group of lads trying all game, fair play to them, I joined in but it was so frustrating when no-one else did.

I've got no complaints about the result, Millwall were the better side, it's just a shame about Charlie's miss, we were always going to get one chance and that was it, stupid fucking pitch.

And finally, some of Millwall's fans really are horrible. Would rather give us abuse than celebrate their own teams promotion. Nice one, I hope we are swapping places with you in 12 months time, how sweet would that be.

I think everything has been pretty much said and it looks like we're all in agreement (makes a change?!).

Massively disappointed, particularly after the hard work at Charlton to get us there.  For some of the players this will end up being the biggest game of their careers and they just didn't turn up.

Atmosphere was appalling.  There was a small group in my block singing throughout, but the majority just sat there.  I may add that the singers were all ST holders or regulars, because we had a discussion at the start of the game as to how nervous we all felt!  Unfortunately today's performance won't inspire any of the day trippers/bandwagon jumpers whatever you want to call them to turn out next season, so we'll be back to the usual 7,000 odd at home and anything from 250 to 2,500 dependant on where we play away?

Millwall's supporters really are the scum of the earth and that is the majority not the minority.   Quite honestly if I was a genuine Millwall supporter, I would be thoroughly ashamed.  The number of incidents that I witnessed as our coach spent 30 minutes trying to get out of the car park or have since heard about beggars belief.  FFS they'd won the game and most of them didn't even seem bothered, just wanted to cause aggro.

Quite honestly I didn't really enjoy the day. Coach journey there and back was crap thanks to a useless driver who took the longest routes possible ensuring we got stuck in every bit of traffic going!  Charlie Austin's pregnant (by him!) ex girlfriend was sat 2 seats behind me on the coach completely doing everyone's head in with her constant inane whittering and loudly announcing to us all that she'd woken him up that morning by ringing him.  Silly cow - Charlie you're well rid! throughout.  Weather was shite, got soaked and was cold from then on in.  The letters ran on my flag from getting wet. Never felt confident from the first kick.  Almost wish we'd gone out in the semis and saved myself near on £200!

Just to top it off, on my return to our local pub, I've had to put up with pissed up of a twat brother-in-law asking me if I was gutted with a big grin on his face.  When I said yees, I was told that 'Swindon were absolutely shite and he couldn't even be bothered to watch it'.  FUCK OFF!!!

I'm glad I've been once just to see it. An impressive edifice. I'm not bothered about going again and to be honest I think the play off finals are a load of old bollocks designed to fleece committed fans who have no alternative but to go and spend a shedload of dosh. If we went up auto or missed out then today would not have happened.

The team were crap and the fans were crap. Millwall played the same way as they did at home a couple of weeks ago and we learnt nothing. It was a bloody expensive day out topped off with a vindy in the Curry Garden. Cuthbert MOM by a long way but thats not really praise for him.
Millwall fans were interesting after the game. Instead of celebrating they came out taking the piss. Our minibus was parked by the Millwall end and we had loads of cunts give it but they weren't too chuffed taking it back. No fisitcuffs but they didn't like it when we told them to go fuck themselves. In hindsight I wish I'd taken out the cunt in the beret who was ginving loads behind a police officer. i just had a look at the highlights to see what charlie's miss was like. the ball jumped up and came off the inside of his leg above his ankle. in the build-up to the chance he had in the 93rd minute which forde just tipped wide, charlie lost his footing on the pitch.

and because i'm a moron i had a look at the post-game stuff. charlie was inconsolable, he genuinely looked as though he'd taken the defeat very personally - as though it was entirely his fault. i hope that when he looks back on the game tomorrow he will realise what an amazing season he's had and how much the fans love him.

Havn't read any of this thread yet so apologies if i repeat anything others have said!

absolutely gutted is the best way to describe how i feel. First half we were poor, just like at Charlton; didn't play any good football and never looked like scoring. Lucas didn't look his usual self, he made some important saves but was no where to be seen for their corners, claimed one of them all game if i remember correctly. There seemed to be absolutely no communication, and it showed. No shouts of 'man on' or anything, no talking between the back 4 which resulted in some sketchy moments.

Amankwaah was unsetttled by all the boo-ing at first i thought, but seemed to grow into it more. Didn't take his man on enough when he was in a more attacking position, and the one time he did, he beat him but then put a shit cross in that went straight out.
Lesc had a better second half than first, but still had his usual lapses of concentration, Cuthbert did well. Ward wasn't in the game, had one good run at their defence in the second half which caused them some concern, if only he'd carried on doing it.

Ferry was outmuscled and outjumped, didn't win a header all game. JP wasn't very influential, didn't seem to have much time on the ball and never had a chance to put a good cross in. The set pieces were poor, we wasted numerous good opportunities from not beating the first man etc. Our defending of set pieces was even worse!! O'brien comes on, i assume to use his pace, what does he do? stand on the touchline and never make a run forward, looks so low on confidence! Austin played well apart from THAT chance, trust the fucking Wembley pitch to ruin the best chance we had. Of all the people on the pitch, you'd want that chance to fall to Charlie, but all the fucking concerts, speedway, rugby and american football fucked that right up.

Speaking of Wembley, the stadium itself is incredible, but the pitch was bollocks, no doubt made worse by the pissing rain before kick off. The logistical planning was absolutely fucking crap.  Of all the fucking places to park alot of our coaches, they put us right next to a dozen millwall coaches, and at their end of the stadium, i wonder what cunt came up with that. Having to walk around the side of the stadium after the match into the flow of millwall fans wasn't pleasant, with eveyr skinheaded, pikey cunt hurling abuse. Along that walk i saw about 2 policemen. Then going down to the coaches with countless Millwall fans all giving it the big'un. And to help if anything happened? a little ginger steward and 2 fucking policewomen who were having a good old natter. If we'd have won i bet there would have been some trouble around there, as it was we only had to put up wth gloating cockheads with short man syndrome. Surely they know Milwall are pretty scummy and with a history of violence, you'd think they'd have done a bit more to keep the fans apart.

Back to the match, anyone know where the ref lives so i can post him a set of match cards? it was a fuckng joke how the only yellow card was to one of our players, there were countless incidents where a millwall player should have been booked, but he barely even gave them a warning, fucking disgrace.

Finally, Millwall fans are the only ones i now truly despise, i hate them all.  they've got one fuckign song about no one liking them, and i can see why cos they're cunts, and that stupid fucking milll shit wich sounds like they're fucking humming. Cunts.

But this defeat shouldn't detract from our amazing season, lets hope we can come back next year stronger and get auto!

Internet was cut off last night so couldn't watch the game online, sounds like I didn't miss much.

From what most are saying on here we didn't perform well both on the pitch or in the stands, don't know which is more disappointing.  If we had put in a good performance and still lost then it probably would have encouraged some of the stay aways or glory hunters to come and check us out next season.

Disappointing weekend, just hope we can come back from this and put in some good performances next season and be pushing for promotion again. 

watching the highlights (fuck knows why) and its only furthering my point that JFL had a fucking awful game. it seems that alot of the chances they're showing came from him either being out of position, not playing the ball, or just generally looking like he had no fucking clue. but then again, the rest of the team hardly came up smelling of roses.

JFL wasn't too good, but didn't directly cost us... I'm far more annoyed that our entire game plan was to forget all the good football we'd played all season. McGovern and Ward were anonymous as we resorted to hoofing it to a bloke who couldn't be arsed. And as a result, any time Kev did make a run forward, JP had returned to his old habit of not being where he was meant to be... yep, sobering up an sleeping on it has not made it any better.

I do keep forgetting how young LJF is.  Wasn't his best game at centreback yesterday but then you have to look at the Southampton game and he was immense.  Like Austin he's a young lad and still has a lot to learn, Danny must rate him over Morrison.  

O'brien is fast becoming the worst signing we've made since Tony Thorpe. His 1st touch was awful and i was suprised McGovern was taken off to replace him.

Second half was better but we still lacked any creativity, i would like DW to bring in an attacking midfielder for the up & coming season another striker, at least one leftback, one rightback & left winger.

I think it was pretty hard to generate any atmosphere yesterday for a few reasons:-

1. Most people that sing were so spread out that the others couldn't hear what was being sung by them.  I could hear singing in Block 134 but couldn't hear what was being sung.

2. Lack of anything created in the first half made it difficult to get fans excited

3. When we tried to get anything started in our block only about 20 people joined in. I gave up when i tried to start the Give us an S and nobody responded miserable cunts.

Still surprised tough that JPM came off though. Thought he'd have taken Ferry off for O'Brien and put JPM in the middle and Ward up front. Hey ho, everyones a manager.

guy in the block next to me gave it give us an S. i was the only single person who responded, and we continued it through to the end. problem is we only have around 15,000 true fans (not all of them are regulars but are swindon till the die) and of them, only a couple of thousand actually sing, so in a bank holiday summer trip(as opposed to a football match) its hard to get anything too complex going. thats why IMO Mill was so successfull, any1 can pick it up

I thought the ref was consistent to be honest. He could have produced cards here there and everywhere, but didn't. The freekick for handball by the keeper should have been a freekick the other way for a push in the back. Douglas could have had a yellow, or red for lashing out at one of their players. So, overall I dont think we can blame him.

They said on Sky that LJF had only had it confirmed a few days ago that his sister was indeed dead. I wonder whether that affected him, as every other time he has played CB everyone has raved about how good he has been.

JPM wasn't given time on the ball. Thats why he couldn't get into the game. When he is given a little space he flourishes. Millwall were on him in a flash, which took him out of the game.

Ferry and Douglas appear to me to be the same type of player. Breaking up play and making simple passes. Ferry tried to be more creative at times, but was brushed off the ball too easily by the Millwall midfield. With JPM and Ferry nullified, there was nothing created in midfield.

I was hoping O'Brien's introduction would result in Millwall's midfield having to stand off a little to cope with his pace. If that had happened I think there may have been a little more space for the rest of the midfield to operate. But it didn't and he didn't get into the game. Confidence player or not, he might as well not have been there.

Bottomline is that Millwall played very well. They knew where the threats came from and did a very good job in snuffing those threats out. Their movement up top complemented their resolute defence and midfield. The fact of the matter is that we had one way of playing. We didn't seem to be able to adapt. We've made alot of progress, but need to make that little bit more before we can kick on with confidence.

Referee was fine. Should've booked Trotter and Forde but that's about it.

The morning after. Still got an awful feeling, if not worse.

anyway,shit game and some of our players went to pieces.amankwaa and jfl in particular.first half the team was terrible.at least in the second half we took the game to them.
the game showed we need to add to the squad.we need goals added from midifield to get out of that division.

Yesterday I was seething about our performance but today it makes sense. Millwall done to us what they done to huddersfield in the semi and plenty of other teams this year. They stopped us playing. DW wouldnt have deliberately said "go out and hoof it" but their work rate, discipline and shape off the ball was superb, leaving our midfield with no space.

Ferry lost every fifty-fifty against trotter because trotter is a beast. Dougie done everthing he could and the wide boys just got frustrated and went looking for it, but everywhere they went there was a unit in a blue shirt pushing them off the ball. It isn't pretty and they might get found out next year but in the three play-off games they stopped us and Huddersfield, two good attacking sides, from even threatening to score.

Now I know JFL is young, and he has had an horrendous week - not training as he was on compassionate leave - but he was so lackadaisical yesterday. The defensive line was all over the place as either Cuthbert isn't used to setting it or JFL was half asleep, and JFL just generally looked very uncomfortbale.

Paynter didn't look fit, Lucas just went a bit mental with some of his decision making but got away with it and made some good saves in the second half. Austin didn't get a sniff apart from that chance, but that was more down to a very efficient defence.

Our two best players? Sheehan looked strong defensively and good on the ball until he had to go off, and Cuthbert digged his partner out numerous times, particularly second half. Greer playing would have made such a difference!

Thoroughly gutted, and god knows how many of these boys are leaving but I've got faith in DW replacing any of them with quality, and we will progress. The board and manager will not let us move backwards and a couple of times this season nuetrals have said we remind them of Millwall last year, so next year we can be the Millwall of this year.

The morning after and it still hurts.

The only consolation (at least for us old buggers) is that it doesn't hurt anywhere near as much as the aftermath of 1990.

We froze simple as that.We needed our experienced players to turn up yesterday and it just didn't happen.

We relied on players like Austin and ward who have not even had full seasons to do it for us yesterday and it just didn't happen.

Onwards and upwards for next season they can only learn from that like Millwall did obviously.

I did a quick check last night and the Millwall team had a fair bit more experience, a third to be precise - their players had an average of 225 first team appearances and ours just 170. Plus we had 4 players in their first full season, it was at least the second full season for all of the Millwall team.

Well we weren't at the races yesterday. Real shame. Only Austin looked like scoring. I think the effort was there it was the quality that wasn't. Tbh I don't think our support helped either. A decent vocal backing in that 2nd half would have spured the lads on a bit more.

In terms of the attitude of the Millwall fans outside the ground it was a real shame. To be stood on Wembely Way with 2 OAPs, a pregnant wife, my sister and a random young family of four and be repeatidly called wankers, cunts and inbreds wasnt great i have to be honest. I wouldnt have had an issue if i was the group of blokes i tend to go with but the kids were only 5 years old.

Anyway feel great this morning being in Swindon and knowing its a long way from the shit hole they will spend the rest of their lives in.

Weird day. Awesome, inspiring, frustrating, agonising... and in parts scary.

Very proud of everyone connected with the club. Never nice to lose but to go out with such dignity painted our great club in a very special light.

A special mention for Charlie. Such a heart breaking moment but if the kid can take the leap up six divisions and blow teams in League 1 away, he'll come back next season a much improved goalscoring machine and fire us up to The Championship. Yesterday will prove to be a valualelearning curve for not just Charlie but the squad as a whole.

Having spent today nursing the disappointment & looking for some solace on here, I just hope that the momentum the club have built up isn't swept away by the apathy that blights the town if we don't start strongly next season. I'm not having a pop at those who clearly care about the club. It's those who spend their time hurling unrealistic negative comments & ignorant criticism based on ridiculous levels of expectation (many of who were out in force yesterday). We're all critics & entitled to our opinions but please remember this. Our club was on a "life support machine" just hours from death 2 & a half years ago. A disturbing number of people don't seem to grasp how lucky we were to have Mr Fitton & co come along & play of role of life saving "surgeon". To be 90 minutes away from a possible place in the Championship after a season in what was without a doubt the toughest Div 3 ever, is an achievement that deserves nothing but respect & admiration. I'm proud we've punched above our weight & the entire club deserve a big thank you for that. We have a classy grounded manager, a realistic shrewd board, a pitch that Wembley can only dream of & a bright young team that with a few tweaks can go one better next year. Let's all play our part to keep the club pointed in the right direction.

Didn't turn up in the end. Millwall were a hard and niggly, dirty side. We just weren't allowed any time on the ball and all the loose balls went to them. To be fair we could have been 2 or 3 down by the time Charlie had his chance, the pitch screwed it up for him and after that I knew it was all over. Never mind, a great season and we can all hold our heads up high.

In all it was a bit shit but i am sure nobody would of give a fuck if we had won but here goes my two penneth!

Pubs - Green Man marque for me and sank a few in there.

Wembley - been before but i was disappointed in my £50 odd seat being so low down behind the goal. I didnt think the beer was that over priced but the food prices are a disgrace.

Fans - Utter shite....little pockets of hard core support swamped by the day trippers.  The plastics needed a display to get them excited and it didnt happen. I gave up trying to sing.

Match - I realised after 20 minutes that it was'nt going to happen. We learned nothing from the final game of the season and Millwall swamped us in Midfield and shut us down. Even if Charlie had buried his chance i would not of been confident about getting through.
The players belief evaporated and it spread to the fans......a real anti climax.

Ref - Thought he was a bit slow with the bookings especially Harris and the Black lad at the back who was given ten let offs. Other than that he was steady eddie and got most things right.

DW - picked a fair side and started Wanky which was what i wanted......be careful what you wish for!

Millwall Team - Best Team won IMO. Very organised and play the ball quick and slick.

Millwall Fans - I shook hands with a few of the older fans but as always there is a hard core of scum that ruin things.  These type of fans are found in every clubs support but Millwall have a larger percentage than most.
What a joy it was seeing a Millwall skin head and his two young girls punching and kicking the Town coaches on the way out. A nice friendly policeman asked him to move along....how nice...thankyou PC Gently!!

I have also enjoyed the 'denial' posts by Millwall fans on here. I was there and i saw what happened.

OLD BILL - Very good natured at the pub i thought but like many games this season, they went missing at the final whistle.  Police Liason Officer Neighbour asked on the Adver site (and maybe the Official site) for independent coaches to register with the Police....what for!!???  It was a total fuck up.  Putting Swindon and Millwall coaches 30 yards apart with three Old Bill to keep order.....a fucking joke.  I hope that was'nt his idea, if it was, he can resign and we can put a Goldfish in charge of Police Liason.

THE SEASON - I was one of the few who was at Gillingham on opening day.  I knew then that we would finish above the Pikeys but couldnt of predicted they would be relegated and we would be walking out at Wembley.......great memories at Leeds and Saints are highlights.......roll on next season.
