Title: Open Office
Post by: Doore on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, 07:55:25
Does this take a lot of memory (if that's the right term, I don't know much about computers) and is it any good?  I just need a word processor for home use but as I am only on mobile broadband I have a low download limit.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

Abiword is another open source choice also available for Windows http://www.abisource.com/
Runs like a dream on Linux.

It's about 10-15Mb download IIRC for Windows so not massive. And pretty much like MS Office in use for most mainstream stuff. Except free. Can be a bit slow to start on older machines

I've been using it for a few months now, since Microsoft got onto my dodgy copy of Office. It's pretty much the same and does the job just as well as far as I can tell.
