Title: Internet Help
Post by: Bogus Dave on Monday, February 1, 2010, 16:38:54
Hello

I've just today moved into my new house in Bath. I am using the existing internet service set up by the previous inhabitants, a Virgin media service. I can log-on fine, and use the internet (obviously), but I am told it has not yet validated me, and i am a bit worried and confused how to do this. Can somebody help me with this matter please?

Yours Faithfully

David

Not sure how Virgin Media could push a pop up balloon like that to your computer.

Is it coming from windows or your browser?

Sure its not windows saying you haven't validated it yet?

Sounds like the windows validation balloon possibly. Have you a dodgy copy of your OS, or have you done a windows update recently.

You can uninstall it via the control panel.

That message is for your wireless LAN.

Might mean the settings are wrong, or security isn't set at the highest level. Something like that.

Are you using a new router? Is it set up correctly?

I don't know :( Literally moved in today, have no idea

I think the old housemates set it up when they moved in, about 5 months ago

Hi again

Two of us have laptops, one a mac, connected to the internet. A third though is trying on her macbook and although it is connecting to the network, it won't let her on the internet.

Any ideas?

Have you ensured the network connections are exactly the same on both the Macs?

Are they all set to DHCP for the IP address ("Configure IPv4" on a Mac), or set manually to different IP addresses?

Does the 'it' refer to the Internet problem or your female housemate?
