2-1 Town. We'll go 2 up and concede late again and hang on. We don't seem to able to kiil games off. I'm hopeful for a good game of football as games against Millwall normally are. No doubt they'll bring a few, get behind their team, behave themsemves and get treated like shit by the Old Bill.

I think we will race into a 3-0 lead in the first 25 minutes (Revell, Hutchinson, McGovern) Millwall will pull one back on the stroke of half time and will score again in the first minute of the second half. We will then spend the rest of the half hanging on like grim fuck.

Final Score: 3-2

He stood on a player's ankle apparently...  sounds like it's a fair sending off, but the commentators are criticising the Swindon fan's reaction.  What did they expect, everyone to sit back and applaud a fine decision by Mr Wright?

Only just got in & not read through thread, so apologies if someone has already mentioned...but match commentary on BBC Radio London (94.9) for anyone in London or the south east.

Their commentators seem a bit confused about the sending off, describing it as 'showing studs' one minute and then saying Douglas was hard done by the next.  Also think Millwall lacking penetration up front, even after the substitution.  Fingers crossed.  One up with one man down is the kind of situation I hate.

Following their sending off, I hope we're not tempted to think we can just slow the game down now and coast to full time.  Millwall do sound quite weak going forward, but we've had our fingers burned too many times in the closing stages.  A second goal would wrap this up now.  Revell sounding quite lively still, so fingers crossed.

Someone with no knowledge of the League Table listening to the afternoon texts would be booking their tickets for League Two away trips at the moment. I know the late goals are frustrating, but we're 7th and if you take it in isolation from the late goals of the last few weeks a 1-1 draw against a good team when down to ten men for so long is not a disastrous result.

Good post, we are a way off the potential of this team, 7th and not playing that well is not something to worry about.

I think the texts would sound very different if we went one down after 15 minutes and then pulled one back just before the end.  Conceding a late equaliser feels like a loss...in fact, it's even more of a kick in the balls than conceding a goal to lose because you drop two points instead of one.  It's only natural.

Very True. It always feels worse when it happens to you and when when it keeps happening to you it gets annoying but we are not losing and we are in 7th place with team that has a lot of improving to do.

Danny:
Worked very hard against 10 men, tiredness at the end.  Disappointed with sending off, should have been a booking from his angle, not two-footed.   Macca and Ben had to be sacrificed.  Revell ran himself to a standstill.

Ref. had lots of strange decisions, ref had a bad game.

Well worked corner for the goal, excellent football early in the game.  No appeal, Dougie out for three games.

Goal, bad decision, tiredness, disappointing, looking at the game as a whole.  In a decent position, hard to beat, lots of commitment.  Brilliant in terms of commitment, Topi on the way back, will miss Dougie.  JPT great at home, didn't matter who is it.  Dougie will be a big miss, have the players to make up.

Because they never rescind them if there's been contact (which there was, not necessarily malicious but there was contact) and you run the risk of getting any ban increased. Not worth it

We were dead on our feet in the last 20 mins of the game so it's more amazing we didn't lose to be honest.  Annoying, because I thought it had the makings of a very entertaining game, with us creating quite a few chances and Millwall looking dangerous as well.  We seemed to be on the up after the goal.  Didn't look like a red to me and I'm not sure the Millwall one was as bad as it looked, but he was bound to go following our one.  Unfortunately we had run ourselves out of steam so couldn't take advantage of being back to even sides.  Revell played really well today, as did JP.

Douglas was one footed but late. Definitely a yellow, definitely not a red.
Their red looked similar to me, but the ref had given ours and so had to give the same.
The ref was shit. Let loads of handbags and crowding of the ref type dissent go, but still managed to give yellows out.

The game I suppose was a fair result, but until the last 15 we looked the better team - though clearly hampered by 10 v 11. We were knackered for the last 10-15, but I still think mentally we tense up and drop too deep.

Frampton challenge was reckless on mcgovern knee it was a red. Blatant push on Cuthbert for the goal. Millwall number 16 and 15 are whinging cunts.

Agree with the last couple of comments.  I think we looked tired 'cos of being (harshly) a man down for so long.  I don't think Millwall were really threatening us even though they hit the post.
Macca's yellow was right, as was the yellow to the Millwall keeper, but other than that, I think the other cards shown were due to the ref making problems for himself - the guy was getting so many basic things wrong it was almost commical.
Still, when you think about what would of happened last year, i'll take the point.

we started really well, looked confident and had superb shape to the team.
even against 11 with 10 men we did well.i cannot fault players at all really as the commitment was superb by all of them.

i thought wilson got it wrong big time and his tactics cost us in the end.when their guy got sent off i thought right we'll go after them now but no, we sat back on a 1 nil lead and let them come at us.we had a free kick with the opportunity to score and had 2 men in the box for it!why?
playing the lone man with no support, allowed millwall to play 3 at the back and throw 2 men upfront.i have no idea why wilson let that happen?

revell was mom for me and jpm was a close second.

Fully agree with all that, I could hear people criticising our 'lack of fitness' and 'lack of urgency', but when you consider we played most of the game a man down I think it's fair to say the players will tire quicker.

Bollocks, seen much worse than that not even get a free kick, he challenged and won the ball. I wasn't denying he connected with the player, he manifestly did, but he'd won the ball in a fair challenge. The sending off was solely down to the am-dram theatrics from their histrionic players, not what the ref saw (or rather didn't). Whinging, diving, cheating, nasty little bullies

As I said before I didn't see the Douglas challenge. but it looked like the ref may have been influenced by the Millwall players that surrounded him - it was only after this he went to his pocket and produced the red.

I thought the Millwall one was as blatant a red card as they get, he went in for a 50/50 ball high and hard with his boot and caught JPM at waist height. None of their players complained either which is generally a sign it was deserved.

The ref was shit...end of, plus his assistants was crap as well.

We started off very well looking the most dangerous side, and it wasn't really a surprise when we scored. The front two were playing well together. Then it turned into the referee's show. Sitting on the opposite side I didn't get a good view but in my mind the Millwall players reaction got Douglas sent off.

Wilson had to sacrifice one of the strikers, bringing on Timlin for Hutchinson (personally I would've gone with Easton). McNamee got booked for a stupid foul just before half time, and due to the fact Henry was causing us problems down that side, McNamee was taken off with Lescinel on with Kennedy moved in left midfield.

Early in the second half, we should've had a penalty when Kennedy and Lecs linked up well and when the cross came in , Craig looked to have hanballed it. The ref then refused to book Martin despite pulling back Amankwaah, but Millwall didn't look like scoring.

Soon afterwards, JPM went through around half way, and got clattered by Frampton. In my opinion, it was just a booking, but the ref decided that it was a red after giving Douglas', and it was 10 a side. Revell, who had run his arse off, was then replaced by Painter.

Soon afterwards a long cross was put into the box, Cuthbert was pushed and Millwall equalised, and then it was trying to hold onto a point.

All in all, the ref ruined a good game, and since we were down to 10 men for an hour I would've quite happily taken a point. A number of people were slagging Wilson off for his subs, but he was left no choice in takeing a striker off and McNamee as he in not known for his defensive abilities, and Revell had run himself into the ground.

How Craig was not at least booked as he should've got booked for dissent after kicking a water bottle on the edge of the pitch when Frampton was sent off, and he showed so much dissent in moaning about everything.

After the first game of the season, if somone said we'd be 7th two months later I would've ripped their arm off. It's a pity now we're going to lose Douglas for three games.

It was an ok game

Douglas deserved his red card.   His tackle was a yellow but he then tries to slap a Millwall player and had to go.

Overall Millwall were the better side and this would ahve been a game we would have lost 12 months ago.

Only thing we lacked was pace.  When it was 11 vs 11 we were easily bearting them on the wings and probably would have scored more goals.  Going down to 10 men was tough snf i dont think Revell is good enough to play upfront on his own.

Shame Obadeyi wasnt fit to play as this was his sort of game today.

Ref was shit,  made load of crap decisions for both teams

As Paul said, I don't think we have grounds to appeal. He (IMHO) fouled the man, and we'd therefore be appealing the referees interpretation of the severity of the foul. It wouldn't end well (unless the replay shows he took the ball first)

Well that was fucking frustrating. Millwall are fucking shite. Truly awful side that created nothing and spent half the match (and I mean 45 mins quite literally) moaning at the ref and mouthing off. fucking dirty cheating cunts. Douglas should never have had a red. Never in a million years was that more than a yellow yet because their cunt of a player decides to roll and pretend the world is about to end it must be a red.

Their player deserved to go. Bad challenege and was needless. On another day it could have been a yellow but given the ref was being a dick and had already sent off JD then he had no choice.

Sadly we were screwed by the cunt in black. Because we had to play 3/4 of the match with 10 men we were truly knackered and despite being the better team for the much of the 90 and holding on like warriors we let in a goal because we were so tired. Fucking shambles. The ref needs a good look at by the football league or FA because he is a joke. Shouldn't be in the job. We should have had a penalty as well and their striker should have been sent off at the end for a blatent kick on Lucas. fucking disgusted and annoyed we didn't win but for once it wasn't the players' faults. They played with their hearts on their sleeves and really gave it a good go. Fair play boys.

At least we didn't lose. That's 11 unbeaten now and in 7th so not the end of the world. Millwall were poor though. After last season I was expecting better from them....

Yeh but that didnt happen.  We were down to 10 men and Douglas deserved his red for trying to slap the Millwall player.

If it was 11 vs 11 i agree we probably would have won

What game were you watching then? I'd like to see the Douglas challenge again but it did look harsh to me.

Well he should have done.

Overall it was a good performance considering the circumstances.  If it was 11 v 11 we would have porbably won.  The fact that we went down to 10 men so early really mucked our fatigue up at the end.

Still hoping for 3 points on Sat against Hartlepool before a tough run of fixtures start

One without my tinted Swindon glasses on.  Tackle was a yellow at best but Douglas clearly raised his hand and tried to slap a Millwall player.   Was sat right in the middle of the Don Rogers stand and had a clear view of it.

Am I the only person that thinks using fatigue as an excuse for the way they played towards the end is complete and utter bollocks? I didn't see them running round that much harder, except for Revell who was up front alone. Besides they are supposed to be professional sportsmen and should be fit enough to handle it.

I can't help but wonder if the reason we keep conceding late goals is due to fatigue and that they are simply not fit enough. There must be something causing it and Wilson needs to fix it asap as its beyond a joke now.

Going down to 10 men was tough snf i dont think Revell is good enough to play upfront on his own.

I've never seen a player run around and be a pain for defenders so much in a game. Even Cox wouldn't have been able to sustain that level of running for the length of time Revell did.

He can be hit and miss with his touch in front of goal at times but when you're down to 10 men and hoofing the ball over the top you want a player like Revell playing there. He also won a fair bit in the air.

He played well against Colchester, had a very good display at Brentford last week and tried his bollocks off today. I do wonder what the hell he has to do to convince some people. Yes he is hit and miss but he's our best option in a single striker situation. We don't have Cox any more. Get over it.

Apologies if it's been posted already but the last line made me chuckle. They had an extra man for much of the game, fitness shouldn't have been an issue?

Quote
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett told BBC London 94.9:

"Mixed emotions really, we finished strong and looked like the side that would win in the second half.

"We needed more in the box, we had so many chance and so many opportunities.

"Pleased with the side' s attitude and the fitness to keep going."

You have to be a true fan to be a Swindon fan, we dont alf seem to put up with a lot ... last season I prayed that an opposing keeper would make similar blunders to our two tossers in goal. Now this season the frustration of all those late goals conceeded, when will one go in the other net for a change.
How many points have we thrown away this season by sitting back on one goal leads?

One constant in our late concessions, is that this season I believe they've all been scored by substitutes...obviously when a team is behind, they'll try and stick some more attacking options on...which should in theory open up gaps for a counter attack. We don't and haven't for a very long time finished strongly in games at the CG.

Wilson needs to sort out some kind of strategy for dealing with this...because this is our good spell, and we need as many points as poss, as doubtless a shit run is around the corner.

Thid was all set up for a good game - both teams attacking and going for a win. They were getting a lot of space on the wings and putting in some decent crosses but had no end product. we were looking good and there was some good passing.
Then the ref happens - late challenge from Douglas - it should be a yellow but no cuntchops decides its a red.
After this I don't think it really matters what tactics Wislon or Jackett deployed  or what the players actually did as we'd entered the Twilight Zone and anything could have happenned and did. At this stage they might as well have halted play and tossed a coin.

I am a surprised as usual by some of the comments on here.  On reflection I believe this was a point gained, we were second best for most of the second half, how many saves did their keeper make?  Yes, there were reasons for that, and yes the referee was a twat.  Sadly I think it was some strange decisions from management that cost us most today.  When we went down to ten the obvious decision to me was to take Macca off, he had already shown in half an hour that this was not to be his day.  Leave Hutchinson and Revell to take the pressure off us by holding the ball up, with Timlin bolstering the midfield.  All in all I was very disappointed, we looked in a different class for the first 30 minutes but sadly lacked a lot of idea after the sending off.  I think the standing ovation for Revell was well deserved, but he is not the answer in front of goal - no cutting edge.

No disrespect arriba, but I don't think it really matters whether our players whinged and moaned as much as theirs did. One of those team's is ours and we should snidely smile, perhaps be amused even, at getting away with stuff. We're allowed to be biased and we should be. We shouldn't sit back and imply the other team is unlucky and talk about the bad things our players did... We should gloat.

If JPM got someone sent off. Fucking good. He plays for my team and i'd want my players kicking chunks out of the other team and diving for penalties left right and centre if it means we win. I couldn't give a flying fuck about the opposition. I don't care whether they like us, hate us, or want to fuck us. I don't care whether it's unsporting or whether it's unsavoury. I'm a supporter not a player, wins please me, not the gentlemanly conduct between the teams. There's only one outcome i care about and they can accomplish that anyway they want. (Within reason of course.)

Yes the result fucked me off. Would i have taken 1-1 after Douglas got sent off? Yes. Am i frustrated with all the draws? Slightly, but we're playing tighter and better than i've seen from us in quite a few seasons and i know what i prefer. :)

I generally agree with this.

Although I did think at the time it might have been an idea top drop Hutchinson back into right wing and move JPM to the middle.

That way, say worst came to worse and Millwall scored 5 minutes after Douglas went off we could have still gone with 2 upfront if we needed to.

I can't help but wonder if the reason we keep conceding late goals is due to fatigue and that they are simply not fit enough.

FFS though arriba, most of us came away from what started out promising to be a good game that was ruined by the ref fuming at the twat who ruined the game. Your first reaction is to blame the manager. Because obviously Wilson conspired to get one of our most influential midfielders sent off. And when you're down to 10 men after 30 minutes with a goal lead, you're always going to try to protect the lead. Show me a team that doesn't. What would you have had him do, go 3 up front?

The loony in the middle wrecked the game today, simple as. And our lads fought hard to hold on against 11 players trying every trick in the book, a deranged ref and supine assistants. That calls for the reaction most of us had - "Stupid bastard ref wrecked the game" not slating the manager for a situation not of his own making

And DV's right - Craig alone did more whinging than our whole team. he probably outwhinged the entire bloody division today, single-handed. You just always seem to look for any negatives you can on our side, even when they're not there. I'd call you an emo, if I was sure what one was :)

Frustrating as his work might be at times, Danny Wilson isn't doing anything "piss poor" at Swindon, in my opinion.

And about our players moaning as much as they did, and about Douglas deserving to get sent off (which I still say is bollocks) and about us sitting back when we were trying to hold on to a lead against 12 men and ... and .....

The point being, that you don't give a balanced view as you claim, you just lay into our side (And no, I don't claim to give a balanced view either, but I lay into the opposition, which on this occasion was the ref). Like Barry says, most of us would expect the default position to be to give our own side the benefit of the doubt. Emu.

Millwall players were a fucking disgrace, bunch of moaning bitches the lot of them. Even Jack Smith got in on the act in the 2nd half.

Ref was absolute dogshite. Not biased, just shockingly inept.

Team performance- Up to the Douglas sending off we look easily the better side and may have gone on to win convincingly. Even after JD went we looked pretty good with the team battling to keep the lead. After the second sending off though it looked like we were still playing against an extra man and the goal was sadly inevitable.

Not got anything to say about DW's tactics, his substitutions were spot on. The problem lay, imo, with the players starting to sit further and further back, pumping long balls up to Revell (Or Paynter) who, even if they won them, had no one to lay it off to. Don't think you can blame Danny's tactics for the players starting to get twitchy.

If we had drawn 11 V 11, it would have been 2 points dropped. As it was, I'll settle for a point.

obviously.
free kick arkells side 10 vs 10.we're 1-0 up and have 2 men in the box for it.
why? that is a goal scoring opportunity and we didn't even bother filling the box.they only left 2 men up at this point too.

was that one JPM took quickly and Wilson then bollocked him for it?

It might be a different free kick.

There was one, JPM took quickly and only Greer had got forward.

Wilson then went mental on the touchline at JPM for being waste full.

Lets maybe see him having ago at the forwards for being wastefull.....fact is we aint got none...Paynter for Revell whats that about?....get a striker on the pitch to match defence and midfield and we may take three points instead of one.

Paynter for Revell was probably due to the fact Revell had run himself into the ground and was clearly knackered for all to see.

Ref played too large a part in this one.

I watched from the Don Rog stand for a change and liked the different angle aspect.

We could and should of been 2 up in the first ten minutes- bad miss by Hutch and Revell needs to let fly earlier, the keeper gifted him a ball and he didnt pull the trigger, same happened in the second half.

From my view i thought the ref was right to show Douglas a red...what a fucking stupid and needless tackle to do a yard from the ref..i must say i didnt clap the twat off....i feared the worst and it was realised. >:(

I did however , enjoy shouting 'get him off' at every foul from then on in.

The ref was a prick for booking Macnamee for the trip because after that it should of been a yellow for every offence after.  How did he not show a yellow for the rugby tackle on Amankwaaaaaaah?
He was a total prick from then on in...got everything wrong for both sides and lost control, saw and waved away a dead cert pen when Lescos cross was stopped with an arm and the Goal kick he gave from the fine Lucas save at the end beggared belief! ???

Revell was my MOM as he ran his bollocks off and was brave, i wish Danny was bit braver with his subs etc...we are NOT good enough to sit and defend but we are good enough when we stretch teams...by sitting back we invited a fight back an thats what happened.

Revell was fucked but he won more than Billy on his entrance, i would of left him on myself..

It always looked like they had an extra man at the end as we defended the Stratton Bank. They hit the post missed two sitters and has us scrambling everywhere..

For that reason i vote for a point gained...

Fave phrase of the day...from then on in....

Roll on next week.

I thankyou!

revell coming off for paynter was always going to happen and was right imo.
the lack of support for revell and then paynter was the problem.
i like revell(first time i've seen him)i think he'll score a fair few goals in a pair upfront.
big ask for him today but his workrate was first rate.

That would be the second half we played the bulk of with one man down would it? You can say "forget this or that" but it all comes back to that. Both sides were playing attacking football until the sending off, understandably we did less so once we were down to 10 men

We were down to 10 men after 30 mins against a good, physical, strong Millwall side. To come away with a draw is to me, a point gained. Lets not forget, they were a play off finalist last season.

We lost a very influencial midfielder in Douglas but I thought JPM had a good game today and Revell was immense.

Also worth a mention, Callum Kennedy. He looks very dangerous out wide and a real prospect.

I think Wilson did get it a bit wrong and should've changed the formation when Millwall went down to 10. Can't fault him for the subs, but allowing Millwall to play three at the back away from home is just wrong. They knocked it about too comfortably at the back and then knocked it long for Harris and Morrison to chase. When we did manage to get the ball forward it just came straight back.

The Millwall players were the worst bunch of whining little cunts that I've ever seen in football (outside the premier league). Frampton was the sole reason for Douglas getting sent off and I cheered when the horrible cunt got sent off himself.

How did he not show a yellow for the rugby tackle on Amankwaaaaaaah?

I'd love to hear his explanation for not giving a yellow card for that. Deliberately taking a player down when he's got past / away from you like that is a yellow card offence, each and every time. Biggest error he made of the day as it was so obvious and clear cut. Though of course no one would gave even mentioned it if it wasn't for the Douglas red, can't help but feel the ref let the game get out of control a bit.

He was getting murdered by their right winger though. Don't get me wrong, I realise he's young and still learning and Macca doesn't offer much help. I guess Wilson saw that and brought LJF on to strengthen the left side

if the video evidence shows him to have done a two footed lunge(how it looked to me)
i'd hope he will be fined accordingly.
i didn't clap him off and thought what he did was a stupid act.

From where I was sat, both reds were justified, but I stand in the Townend so that means very little.

At the end of the day it's frustrating to concede late again but we've drew with a side who were play-off finalists last year and will be top 8 again this year, despite playing without our best midfielder for 70 mins. A win next week and it's four points from 2 home games to go with the four from two away games last week, there really is very little room to grumble considering where we've come from over the last 12 months.

I thought they were crap until the sending off, sadly the change of formation at half time worked in their favour and I still think we did well to get a point.  We just invited them on to us, and they gleefully accepted the invitation.  Lost count of the number of times they got behind our defence, oh to see us do that a bit more often.

See, that's when you KNOW you're wrong :)

Fair play to all - we all see the game differently, but pretty much everyone on here tonight has come on with a strong opinion, backed it up and argued their corner well. And people feel so strongly because it matters to us all. Proper debate with people who know (and care) far more about football than anyone really should and than I would claim to

But FFS people this is the TEF - what's with the impassioned, reasoned on-topic discussion purely about football? More than about time someone took it badly off topic with 80% bollocks.

Sorry my post was meant to say drew. I guess I got sucked into too much negativity, I do remember the game, honest!

What's the big deal with Douglas being sent off? Well for one the midfield was overrun and were it not for some battling displays (Amankwaah, Revell and McGovern my top picks) and some terrible misses for Millwall, we would have been trounced. Their manager has said they're happy with a point but it's they who should be disappointed because against 10 men you should always come out on top.

I've said before today's game we have sat too deep and looked nervous late on in matches. It happened again today and we conceded another late goal. Personally I didn't even expect to still be winning so late into the second half which if you reflect on things shows what a battle the team put in.

I'm willing to isolate this game because ordinarily we wouldn't have 10 men for most of a game. It's not a situation Wilson can really do much about.

Look at the Douglas tackle again...it wasnt Red IMO.....we should have hada penalty for a blatant handball.....also a kick in our keepers head whle he was on the ground should have braught a card.
Still think we were very negative today but again didnt get alot of luck with decisions.

I for one are proud of the team today, they stuck to the task well when we could have let their heads drop and let them back in the game sooner, todays late goal was due to fatigue nothing more.

Always seem to be people who think they can do better than DW which asks the question why are you not all football managers.

He can only do what he tells his players to do,lets not forget we was chasing them around for at least 35 mins with ten men.I think their is mental problem with our players when it comes to the last stages of the game,Im not sur you can blame danny for that,It could be the players that are sitting back rather than danny telling them to.

I know that's up to danny to sort out but some times you need a bit of luck aswell, when i mean luck i mean a clean sheet, had we got one today you may have seen us approach the game in the later stages different next time.

What else could he have done today tactics wise,I thought he had it spot on when we was down to 10 although i would have prefered easton over timlin, but we dont know what's going on with easton at the moment, maybe he's not showing enough in training.

Easton was impressive against Wolves, but I expect Timlin will get the nod as he has been regularly coming off the bench.  Apparently on RS the ref. was going take another look at the incident.

Didn't see it myself, but my mate next to me did. Up until then, I'd quite respected him. Did nothing wrong when he was here, left because he wasn't offered a contract, no reason to boo him IMO. And indeed quite a few had clapped him when he came out. Now, I just think well fuck you then.

Couldn't give a fuck about Jack Smith but Alexander deserves respect. His reaction when Robinson stuck the first in the last game at the Manor was quality and still remains a favourite of mine. He also played for Orient when they sent the Scum down. Good lad.
I think we just need to put todays game into perspective. I wouldn't envy either manager trying to second guess a complete and utter fucking nutcase. We're 7th, and alhough we concede late goals we're still hard to beat.
The worrying thing for me is who is gonig to replace Douglas because Timlin has been minging so far. Douglas is probably the last person we wanted to see red.

I'm not sure if our defence are told to sit back to defend a lead by Wilson, or if they just take it upon themselves to do it or maybe even do it as an unconcious reaction to having already conceeded so many late goals this season.

Given the obvious quality, professionalism and confidence of Greer and Cuthbert, I'm leaning towards it probably being a managerial instruction, though I may be wrong.

Whether I'm right or wrong though, as has been said many times today, if we sit deep with only a one goal cusion, we are inviting teams to have a pop at us.

Putting aside the 10-man issue today, If we had productive and dangerous front men to give the opposition defenders something to worry about throughout the entire match it probably wouldn't be quite so easy for them to put us under pressure at will. Good as Greer and Cuthbert are, they aint fucking super-humans and will get knackered and make mistakes from time to time.

Revell and Paynter are OK players on their day but neither of them will ever play the leading role in a decent or successful strike partnership at this level.

What I'm trying to say is that we need a decent fucking striker. Sort that out and this season is game on for some fucking excitement in May 2010.

Sticking with the setup as it is at the moment though - whilst we'll all be relatively happy as we've come a fucking long way since the dark days of Wills and Diamandis (and I don't want to come over as an ungrateful, whinging fucking cunt) - it will be dissapointing if we dont do well this season as we have so much fucking potential.

Just watched the highlights and the Douglas tackle was nowhere near a red card, a yellow maybe but even that would have been harsh. He might have gone in with two feet, but he went well under the Millwall player and there was no suggestion of any intent. I couldn't see any sign of a slap either.

The Millwall player was a blatant red, it looked even worse than I saw with his foot being at chest height when he made content with JPM.

I'd say its worth challenging the Douglas decision, there is no way the ref would give a red seeing it in detail.

The Douglas challenge was quite close to where I sit in the DRS. Hardly anyone around me thought it was worth a red and it looks even less like a sending off on the highlights.

We really have to appeal it, I don't  fancy playing Norwich without Douglas. It was quite noticeable yesterday that our midfield struggled badly after we lost him, he brings the best out of Ferry and JP.

I used to quite like Jack Smith and felt we should have kept him as a squad player. After his reaction to their equaliser yesterday he now goes down as a grade A fucking twat.

Nah, he just made a big deal of celebrating, directing it at the DRS. It wouldn't normally have bothered me, but he wasn't getting any real stick (at least from what I could hear) from our fans.

I have to agree with pretty much all of that Steve, Revell ran his bollocks off up front we just lacked that creative spark to put in a killer pass instead of humping it up to Revell or Paynter.

Millwall are the whingiest bunch of fuckwitts I have seen since Wimbledon and Cambridge, the Douglas tackle was right in front of me and it didn't look 2 footed to me but I havent seen the replay yet, looked harsh and Douglas did not slap the Abdou at all he went over say sorry for mistiming the tackle and 5 Millwall players intervened, the ref IMO got it wrong it was a yellow.

The ref said he is willing to examine the evidence and rescind the red if he is proved wrong so he couldn't have sent Douglas off for a slap.

Ferry, Cuthburt & Greer were awesome, Kennedy looked lost on the left wing (apart from 1 lovely Cruyff turn).

Revell looked fit and sharp and a better all round target man than Paynter.

JPM had his best game that I have seen him play.

Dissapointing result but still unbeaten in 12.

I didn't think Kennedy had a good game in defense either. I can see why JFL was subbed on and Kennedy moved to left wing though because the lad has a decent cross and McNamee was leaving the full back exposed even before Douglas was sent off.

Would have been interesting to see Jean-Francois's silky skills on the left wing though.

Well, having seen the Douglas tackle again I'm even more incensed by the decision.  Ferry's effort was worse and I'm even bordering on thinking it's barely a foul now, let alone a booking.  I'd appeal that based on the TV evidence.  I'm still not convinced the JP foul was worth a straight red either, booking.

Arriba, my take on your biggest grumble:

We'd run our socks off.  You may not agree, but it was abosultely clear the players were looking like they were running in mud when Revell went off.  We'd used up our subs to cover the sending off (Timlin on to shore up the midfield and hold on, yes hold on has to be the name of the game when a man down and leading, and then Lescinel on because Millwall were having too much joy down their right wing).  Paynter had to come on, so decision is made for him.  Now we are left with 5 defenders, 3 midfielders and a forward.  How do you manage to get a 2nd player upfront without too many square pegs in round holes and not exposing our flanks where were second best defending at times?  We had to stay 4-4-1 at best and use two defenders on one wing.  I think Wilson would have loved to have gone a different way, but his hands were tied by the players available on the pitch.

Leefer, were you pissed?  Millwall created 2 or 3 good chances before the sending off and caused us no end of problems down the flanks.  They are miles away from being the worst team to visit us this season, I'd say they are probably the best, along with Colchester ( who I thought at the time were well organised and set-up to do a job that would cause a lot of teams problems at this level).

We should have had a penalty in the 2nd half and created a couple of half chances that weren't taken (Amankwaah bursting into the box before stopping and Revell latching onto a good low cross but turning away from goal and shooting well over instead of working it the other way or trying first time).  You can't carry on pressing against 11 men when a man down, especially when you are getting trouble on both flanks - we'd have been picked off at will in the last 30 mins if we'd have tried that.

Fucking ref

Re appealing: Isn't it the norm if you appeal and lose the suspension is increased? If that is the case is it worth doing or just take the punishment. I think the ref got it wrong and was bullied into the decision. It certainly wasn't in the Scoles class. and if he had made the same tackle in the premiership it would definitely been a yellow only but it was definitely a card.

Jack Smith was a great servant for us last season and maybe pissed off he didn't receive a contract I thought he deserved it. Remember last year it was Smith who was kicked to fuck by the Millwall players, he even had a punch up in the tunnel after the final whistle.

There is a lot of crap on here about Wilson.

At 11 vs 11 we were by far the better team. The ref allowed himself to be influenced by Millwall players who deliberately reacted to get Douglas sent off. Something they did again and again during the match. Douglas' was a slightly mistimed tackle, nothing more. The team ran their socks off yesterday. Millwall do play old school basic football, but to say they were crap is also nonsense.

Leefer and Arriba, lots of moaning about the subs, but no mention of who he could/should have actually put on. The problem we had was that Danny Wilson had no pacy options on the bench. We just could not trouble them on the counter attack. OBrien would have made a difference, but he's not back from injury yet.

Yesterday was a good effort, just got fooked up by the ref, sending off one of our best players. End of the day it was a point gained. Nothing at all like Wycombe, which was 2 points dropped.

9 out of 10 doesn't mean he was right.
The best way to defend is to be up and at them and they did this well when only had 10 men.
We seem to be a side who never goes for the jugular, Millwall were there for the taking, like all the other sides who have visited the CG this season, but on every occasions we have sat back to try and defend a one goal advantage.
Southampton who were awful nearly nicked a point against us, and I cant have the argument that our players were tied, after a 10 hour day at work I would understand, but not 90 minutes on a fotoball pitch.

I dont think they are being uppity leefer it's like you say everyone has different opinions on how they view the game, although i must appologize for coming over a bit aggressive last night,I guess i should stop reading those adver comments first,Im 99% sure we would't have sat back had we not been down to ten men,It's just instict is it not that when any team goes down to ten and are infront they sit back and try to hold on.

I have noticed something tho we seem to dither a bit when the balls in our area, maybe someone just needs to stick their boot through it now and again and hoof it away at times, rather than just trying to play it out of trouble.

On another note i see the board have revised matchday ticket prices,a big well done for that mr fitton and the board, lets hope it helps to fill the town end and give's us a twelth man.

Hutchinson for Timlin was quite blatently the correct substitution. If you have your most influential player sent off you have to try and replace him somehow.

It was lack of pacy options that cost us. We need to get better at counter attacking. Go up the other end and smash one in, like Revell did at Brentford.

Its frustrating, but things just went against us yesterday. The team worked very hard, they couldnt have done much more.

Because as he proved yesterday, Revell is the one you want chasing the ball around up top on his own. He ran his bollocks off. I doubt Hutchinson would've been as effective.

Paynter works his socks off - one of the reasons he runs so much is he cant control the ball and has to chase after it, terrible first touch for a forward playing on his own up front. Different player when he laying the ball off quickly to a nippy partner.

He got put through at least twice at Exeter and never came close.

Credit where its due, it was a good finnish at Brentford. But for me, he is the weakest of all the strikers weve played so far this season.

My only criticism of Paynter is that he can be a bit soft if he isnt up for it. Overrall hes been a good player for us, created a lot of goals last year.

Looking at it again on the TV, it looks like a foul, but if played in slow motion Douglas got the ball with the lead foot which made no contact with the Millwall player, was bought down with Douglas's trailing leg, so wasn't even a foul let alone a yellow or red.

Really? We were getting mauled in midfield and on the wings. Losing a midfielder for the sake of two strikers would have cost us a point.

 :soapy tit wank:

Interesting to see [before the referee intervened] how well we fared against a play-off side from last season, and one that really dominated us at home at a similar stage in 08/09.

No doubt at all that Millwall are in decline, whereas we are on the up.

If only we had a goalscorer or two in the side. Maybe that is something to look forward to next season.

I'm increasingly liking the look of Cuthbert.  Ages since we've had a defender who comes anywhere remotely close to "Ohh Shaun Taylor" for scoring goals from set pieces.

On a nother note good to see Jack Smith again, & so glad he didn't come back to score against us

Of course Millwall didnt sit back when they went down to 10 men. They were 1-0 down!!

...and of course they were playing against a team who had been a man down for ages and who were knackered.

Cuthbert & Greer are so similar to Taylor & Calderwood, both good in the air, not bad tackling/positioning and both will become legends for the Town if we can keep hold of them (Cuffy especially).

We need to try and sign Ferry, break the bank and get him here, he reminds me of Ling the way he runs around, good on the ball, plays simple passes but Ling was better going forward whereas Ferry is a better tackler.

er.i didn't moan about the subs at all spencer.
my critsism was of douglas's tackle(which as soon as i saw the footage admitted my mistake)
and our formation 10vs10 which i stand by.

robt i dont buy the knackered thing at all apart from revell who was on his own.the others sat and soaked it up when we were a man down so ran no more than usual.
if fatigue was an issue then they need to be fitter.

I still don't see how we could have changed formation without looking like complete planks.  Before they score we had to go with the 4-4-1 because even with 11 they were creating.  Once they had scored we were pretty much influenced by the players we had on the pitch.

Arriba - we may not be fit enough, don't know, but they absolutely were tired.  It may have been a mental thing rather than physical, but they couldn't change it whatever it was.

So why take him off then....Millwall were not a good strong physicle side....they were the worse team down here this season......dont get me going Ralphy..no excuses today IMO.
Fucking hell, that comment wouldn't look out of place on Thisis.

Millwall were a good side, best I have seen here all season. If they could finish then we would have been fucked. James Henry is as good a winger as you will see at this level, he absolutely tore Kennedy apart in the first half but luckily his delivery wasn't the best. Very glad to see the back of him early in the second half.

The lad on the other side, Martin, was also a threat as was Hackett who they brought on.

We were very lucky to come away with a point, the lads battled very well and brilliant effort, but we should have lost that really.

If DW had made a different decision after the red we'd still probably have drawn or lost and all those moaning about the decision he did make would be moaning that he didn't do exactly what he did do.

The ref did absolutely ruin what was shaping up to be a decent game, that foul on super Kev wound me up perhaps even more than the red, the guy knew exactly what he was doing and if he'd have tugged his shirt it would have been a yellow.  It was clearly a worse challenge that the one Macca got a card for.

I've seen worse teams than Millwall. Wycombe and Southampton were pretty dire but Colchester and Southend looked to have more about them than Millwall.

Before the sending off they weren't upto much at all, fair comment, but afterwards they played fairly well I thought and created a few chances, understandble considering they had an extra man, but they were far from piss poor and they have a few handy players.

I wasn't at the MK game and I thought Colchester were well drilled without being too much of a threat, they will be there abouts come May I would have thought though. Wasn't at Southampton match either but by all acounts we could have had 4 or 5 if it wasn't for Kelvin Davis.

I'm not getting personal leefer, as you said we have both got our own opinions so fair enough.

i'll sumarise my ramblings from yesterday:

fucking ref, never a red live and also on the replays- shocking inconsistent decisions all round

complete lack of class from jack smith, what a cunt

craig deserves aids, as does the wee somalian lad he presumably caught it from, as does harris

steve morrison deserves to be investigated by the FA for kicking the ball out of lucas's hands, kicking lucas in the belly and then kneeing him in the head. the lino saw it, kept his flag down, the ref clearly thought something was amiss as he took morrison to one side and had a fucking chat with him...unbelievable stuff

thank you for this opportunity to repeat everyone's views

To be fair to the ref, we've been able to watch those two red card incidents multiple times via the highlights and there is still some disagreement as to whether they were the correct decisions or not. Given that the ref got to see them once at full speed, maybe we should cut him a bit of slack over them.

Though having said that, the foul on Amankwaah was definitely a yellow and how the fuck he got that wrong I'll never know.

I thought at the time isnt wasnt a red card after watching the highlights im convinced it wasnt a red card.

Now I understand I had a different (maybe better) view than the ref but if I can see it clear as day from the back of the DRS then I fail to see why the referee cant see it from 10 yards away.

Of course, I am also biased in the fact that I decide how to judge a tackle on the actual tackle not the play acting and general cuntishness of the opposition.

If Abdou had got up instead of play acting and if the Millwall players hadnt all surrouded Douglas and the ref - I dont think he would have been sent off.

I didn't think it was a penalty. Looked like it hit has arm, but it was by his side and not raised so a penalty would have been harsh.

I'd be more inclined to do so if
a) He hadn't clearly given the red against Douglas because of the Millwall players' histrionics, not his own judgement on what he saw
b) He hadn't got so much else wrong
The only redeeming feature was that he was at least consistent - consistently shit.

I reckon the Millwall goal was offside. If you look at the replay, a Millwall player is moving forwards on the edge of the 6 yard box when the player shoots and looks just just offside, he is pretty much in line between the player shooting and Lucas which would make him active.

Changing the subject somewhat, is anyone else getting annoyed with Lucas's distribution?
Time and time again against Brentford and Millwall he was punting the long kick in the vague direction of a lone striker with no-one to flick it on to, opposition get the ball and have the time to put us under pressure again. Surely when you're in front and time is running out for the opposition the most important thing is to keep hold of the ball!

Dunno whether this is under instruction but it sure isn't working.

Up until the sending off Lucas was consistently looking to both full backs to roll the ball to, even if he didn't end up doing it every time.  I'd assume that the team were advised to get their shape from goal kicks from that point on, to stop the game from being open.
