Title: Swindon V Franchise.
Post by: herthab on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 04:57:18
This is going to be very unpleasant. I expect loads of loyal dong supporters to make the trip to Swindon (Nothing to do with their league position of course) and we'll be subjected to seeing them leave the CG happy if they win.

Points are vital for us and while we really need a win, I honestly think the best we can expect is a draw.

As long as we don't lose to the horrible bastards.

Good morning Hertha, I'm inclined to agree.

Morning Rich. There's very few games I haven't looked forward to, but this is one.

I always want to beat Franchise - I doubt that part of me will ever change even though it seems that Winkleman is winning the nation over.

For the next three games I'm expecting very little... But that doesn't mean I'm not going to be frantically getting updates in desperate hope for a win from 1500 :)

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if we beat them! I just have a nasty feeling they'll win and then I'd have to sit there watching the smug wankers celebrate.

Sadly Steve I think you're right. "I've got a bad feeling about this" to quote someone from somewhere.

It was Bollo, from the Mighty Boosh.

I popped on to their forum this morning and one of their posters was going on about the 'great' atmosphere at the CG and how it'll be good to go to a proper football ground.

They're right about the last point, but I think they'll be dissapointed with regards to atmosphere.....

This is the first Saturday game I've been to since December 20th.

We can get something out of this game. We have done well against the "better" teams.

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.
Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 10:02:09
The Franchise's last visit to the CG in 06/07...seems like a distant dream.

We were top of the league, a pleasant balmy early September evening and we had a midfield of Ince Evans and Weston.  8000+ in and we claw the game back, after JP McGovern had given them the lead with a tidy finish.

2 pens, do it for us, the first after a surge from Ince into the box....when was the last time any of our midfield got into the opposition box from open play?

Second a mazy run from Andy Caton, takes about 5 Dongs out of the game until he was upended.

Sadly it was a mirage....what becomes of the broken hearted?

I appear to be with the majority, it will take a massive turn round in attitude from our players to get a result today, a draw perhaps.

Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 10:15:18
I've had a good feeling since the Cheltenham game that we are going to win today. It wouldn't be Swindon to fail to beat Cheltenham and Hartlepool and then not beat one of the better teams in the league. 2-1 Swindon today. Plenty of stick for that cunt O'Hanlon from the TE as well. Roll on 3 o'clock.

Andy D’Urso is the Ref today. There will certainly be some controversy during the game!

I have a good feeling about today. Will be interesting to see DW's team selection, especially in the middle of the park.

How many Franchise fans are expected today?

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.
Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 10:25:21
I want to say I'm feeling confident about today, but I've done that before and we've ended up losing.

I think the players now know in no uncertain terms that their arses are in the firing line after DW read them the riot act after the Cheltenham game. Lets hope that transfers onto the pitch.

He did one of our games earlier in the season, at home, could easily have sent Brez off but chose not to.  Thought he had a good game that day, cannot be any worse than that cunt against Hartlepool.

COME ON LETS DO THESE!!!!

LETS GET PISSED!!!!

Honestly though I do feel strangely excited about today. About the first time Ive been excited all season. Because it actually means something now. Its going to force these players (who like middle of the table football and collect their cheques on the 1st of the month, thank you very much) to actually try.

Oh yes please.

The only thing that would have made the win at the Dongs better, would have been an O'Hanlon OG.

Hopefully he will make up for it today. Even better if it's the winner.

Unfortuantely, I don't see us beating those scummy bastards

I hope the players are as up for this one as I am. I hate these cunts with a passion and I've been looking forward to this. Nothing would give me greater pleasure ( other than anything bad Scum related ) than to wipe the smile off that smug club stealing bastard Winkelman.
I just hope there's a positive reaction after Tuesday's choker of a performance. I have absolutely no hope, however, that our current bunch of useless tossers can rise to the occasion but please prove me wrong.

If I'm honest I expected us to lose at home to Leicester, Peterboro, Oldham, Scunthorpe but we didn't. If we were playing someone like Crewe or Brighton today we would lose.
I'm hopeful and so have had a wager on Swindon today, something I very rarely do:
MK to be leading at ht Swindon to win at full time priced at 60/1, now that has to be worth a few pennies of hope.

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.

Agreed. I think we are worth backing today.

Jack Smith is yet another player showing a complete lack of understanding of why fans hate certain players in the Adver today.

This hatred of O'Hanlon is very unhealthy. He's a good player, we got some money out of it, and he has gone on to do alright for himself.

I agree with Jacky Smith that we as fans should focus our energies in supporting the team.

Too often we sit and wait for something to happen before making a noise.

Maybe we need a drummer or some brass to create some kind of atmosphere at home games.

i'd take him over all our defenders right now.he was maybe to young to captain a poor side, but he's a good player nonetheless.

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.

none of the other players mentioned have captain a relegated Swindon team?

He was a rubbish player, in a rubbish team, in a rubbish defence and he was a rubbish captain.

He probably was too young to be captain, he was hardly a leader. Probably the most silent captain you will ever not hear. Making him captain was just one of the million mistakes that made that season fucking awful.

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.

Or indeed a proper football club, with proper fans. Meh to O'Hanlon, tbh more disappointed with Wilson's comments about Wankyman's "vision". Vision of soulless plastic clubs, franchised as family entertainment hubs, you can keep it. Hate this lot, hate their chairman, hate their "fans", hate their very existence. And sadly suspect our players don't understand why it's more important to beat these club-stealing scum possibly more than any other this season and if they don't put in the effort to reflect that I'll hate them too

Rubbish is a bit strong, but certainly very average. It was extremely obvious that was the case when Ady Williams came into the team the next season and showed how it should be done (despite being nearly clapped out).

O'Hanlon deserves all the shit he'll get after his comments. Maybe a positive atmosphere would be preferable, but it's better than no atmosphere at all.

I wish we'd just start winning a few forking games to make what everyone else does pretty much irrelevant.  We seem to be mired in a 9 month long competition to prove who is the least shite.

Its true. But until the players start putting in Leicester/Millwall style performances more often, we're going to remain stuck near that dreaded line separating 20th and 21st place

At the game, much better than tues. Mk are poor. Morrison and greer look solid at the back and surprisingly nalis has been the defensive enforcer in the middle, first time I have seen him play really well. Macca is much better than tues, defending as well as creating but Kanu has been poor first half. Cox and paynter have goals in them today, cox should have scored, good save by the keeper. Verdict, not bad first half, could be better. Mk are there for the taking

Well, on the bright side that means we're still undefeated against the (current) top 4 this season.
We do need to start chalking up a few more wins though. If we can do that soon then a panic can be avoided, but if we go much longer without getting three-point hauls its going to get very nervy.

It's too late now to be accepting a point against anyone as a good result.  Every game now has to be a win.  I wouldn't have settled for a point against the Franchise before this game and I'm even more gutted we've had to now.

The 3 points for a win system penalises teams that draw a lot of games...and we're suffering big time as a result.

I don't think we have the luxury of being able to take the points on offer in games like today's as optional extras.  I see where you're coming from, but we would be clear of the relegation zone now if we had managed to put away another of our chances.  We didn't, and we've dropped down as a result.

My philosophy is that we can get 3 points today and drop all the points against lower opposition and go down. We need to beat the teams around us as priority.

Obviously you're right in that 3 points against everyone will keep us up though. Can't wait for the next home game, gutted I had to miss today's.

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.
Post by: Crozzer on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 17:24:39
Wilson said he was delighted with the performance, annoyed with the sloppy goal conceded, will score goals have to believe.  Might have the nod on a player Saturday or Sunday (dependent on Luggy being on the piss?).

Happy with Morrison (went off for cramp), Nalis did well.  Overall, if they continue playing like they did today they will okay.

Title: Re: Swindon V Franchise.
Post by: swindon-chap on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 17:29:49
Fantastic performance for the most part. But Simon bloody Cox missed an absolute sitter. Billy hit the post, Kanu somehow failed to connect with the header. Absolutely gutted we didn't get 3 points. Morrison and Greer were fantastic today, as soon as Sean went off with cramp we started to panic. Amankwaah was excellent as was Vincent. Nalis ran around like a headless chicken again, Timlin was good defensively, but his passes were pretty poor. We're in the relegation zone, and full well deserve to be there, but play like we did today, and we'll be fine. Knowing Swindon we'll probably play absolutely shite against the bottom clubs again though.

I saw many encouraging signs today, and I have far more belief than I did after the Cheltenham game. Was a bit confused as to why DW took off Macca and not Robson-Kanu, as I thought Macca was just starting to cause some problems. But we just managed to absolutely dominate a game against a very good side, and I'm delighted with that. Onwards and upwards...

Well, a much improved performance but a poor goal to give away as MK pretty much created nothing else!  I thought their fans were poor considering they brought a fair few and illustrated the plastic-ness of their whole existence.

Anyway, we had such a ridiculous amount of chances and how Coxy missed his chance Ill never know.  That game sums up our season - just not our day.

Still concerned by our lack of midfield presence and still look far too complacent at times - a fresh body in midfield would be reassuring.

Not sure if we will stay up  -based on today I'd say yes but we all know how inconsistent we are and how one good performance means nothing.

Just as I proclaim Paynter should be shot and melted down for glue he does that. A clear MOM performance. Superb.

IT was a great performance all round, and I was expecting a defeat,  but it doesn't matter.  Brez should have done better for their goal IMHO. Cox and Robson-Kanu missed the clearest cut chances you can every have.

Brilliant, shit, indifferent, it's all about the points. And we have 1 when we could and should have had 3.

gutted with a draw as we desrved to win today.the back 4 were all superb, with amankwaa my mom.greer and morrison worked well together, vincent gave his usual no-nonsense display.but i was so impressed with amankwaa today,he really was superb.up and down the pitch, great pace and strength.and he dealt with both players who played left mid for mcdons. i slated both smith and ifil last week on here, and we looked so much more solid at the back today.

in midfield the two centre mids went about it well.both were decent i thought.kanu was good and always a threat.he has skills but doesn't over do it unlike the mostly anonimous macnamee who was bullied off the ball all the time today.kanu is also strong and even under pressure keeps possession, macca cannot do this.
paynter put in a good shift and took his header well.cox was poor today, played the sheringham role really, and the miss was a bad one.
also thought brez was poor as his flapping caused their goal.why doesn't he catch it like he used to?now he tries to punch it alkl the time and he either misses or the punch is weak.

as a team though it was pleasing, and if we continue to play like that we wont go down.

Where do I start? We should have won. Paynter was fanastic. He was strong he held the ball up well and took his goal well as well. Cox was awful for his standards. Terrible miss and then another pretty shoddy miss on the rebound after Paynter hit the post. Miss of the day goes to Robson-Kanu though. what a terrible terrible pathetic schoolboy miss. He had so much time. The keeper had even given up yet he still missed the ball. And then Wilson took Macca off instead of him? I thought Kanu was OK but he faded so much in the second half whereas Macca grew more as the game went on. I'd like to see more of Marshall and i'd have taken Cox off for Razak.

On the whole yes we played well but we didn't win. We should have won by 3 or 4. At the end of the day it's all well and good saying we were unlucky and we played a good side etc etc but if we don't win games when they are there for the taking we will go down. I don't care who we are playing. We have to take our chances and win games. MK took their only decent chance and got a point. That was the difference today.

I think you're right. That was a good game to watch and a vast improvement from Tuesday. As shit as Paynter was Tuesday he was good today and MOM for me. Cox, however, was crap. Kanu Robson was good and shit in equal measure and should have had 2 goals. I left the game thinking we were unlucky but again we shot ourselves in the foot by a simple defensive fuck up for their goal and missing chance after chance. It wasn't really unlucky, it was us gifting Franchise a point they did not deserve.
I think DV sums it up well - the reality is that we got one point from a game we dominated and that is only 2 points from the last 12. We are in seriuos relegation form.

shame, today offered so much. morrison and greer looked superb and paynter was so, so good.

I thought Nalis did well today, probably his best game for us.

Faded in the second half, what happened to Jack Smith today not even in the 16?

Franchise fans singing "My garden shed" = laugh of the day.

Swindon fans telling the Franchise drummer to "shove it up his arse" in The Merlin was even better.

Funny how we all see it differently!!  I thought Kanu was crap today and he should have been subbed, I am not a Macca fan but I thought he did much better today, actually got back and made the odd tackle.  Somebody has slated Nalis, I thought he put in a decent shift today.  Cox poor by his own standards, Paynter easily mom for me.  Not Brez's fault for goal, Morrison had the chance to clear and just lobbed it to the edge of the area, then the goal had an enormous amount of luck, ball going nowhere before it hit Wilbraham's outstretched leg.  Bloke next to me slated Akmanawah from start to finish, I thought he had a fair game.

comedy, I thought Nalis was awful. two yards off the pace, contributed nothing IMO. Game just pased him by.

Morrison was superb, agreed.

also, why the hell were Franchise seemingly time wasting from the middle of the first half whilst drawing 1-1 against Swindon?

They took their time over just about everything, in particular the goal keeper.

That was a lot better today!  Probably the only players I could seriously fault were Coxy and Kanu!  Coxy played so deep for the entire match that Paynter was up front on his own. Kanu, could and should have scored 2 and wasn't having the best of games to be fair.  Timlins passing was a little off as well if being critical, but apart from that it was a good performance.

Macca looked like a different player, chasing everything down as well as putting in the odd tackle to add to his quality delivery, exactly the sort of performance that he should be putting in on a cold wet Tuesday night as well. (this statement has been included to keep his agent Adje happy ;D)

That back 4 is the back 4 that should start next season.  Morrison was absolute quality and with Greer alongside him talking to him he will only get better.  Manky was good also, and even though not as composed as Smith going forward, is a better defender which is the more important side of the position.

Paynter worked his arse off and Cox seems to want to play centre mid for some reason.

We need that sort of performance for the rest of the season if we have any hope of staying up.

On another note, does anyone have the email address for the stadium manager and Nick Watkins, I am pissed off about something and need to vent my spleen.

Thanks

....and the goal was clearly Brez' fault. If he'd have caught it then that would have been that. It wasnt even a high cross. You expect your keepers to catch those.

What makes his punching even worse is, he has shit punches than send the ball down instead of up and out

I think the lack of boo's today support my thoughts that O'Hanlon is a good player who has done well for himself, and that we are over that now. He had an 'alright' game.

We probably should have won but overall it is a good point against a strong side. The positives I take are that I didn't see anyone out there today who was better than our best: As per usual, when we walk out Cox is the best player on the pitch, though he should he scored today, and was relatively subdued.

Morrison was good, but helped enormously by Greer, who impresses me more by the day: We must try and sign this geezer if we can.

As I have said before, the key games for us are ORIENT and HEREFORD at home.

I did chuckle to myself when the away fans sang "you only sing when you're winning", because that was by quite-some-way the most away fans they've brought here, coinciding with them doing well. And still less than we took there.

The relegation battle goes up to 17th, and we still play all of those who are active.

It is still in our own hands.

first rule of goal keepering, catch the ball!!!!

Mr. Michael, even if we beat both Orient and Hereford, thats only an extra 6 points. That wouldnt be enough so we have more than just two vital games left.

They are all cup finals but then I doubt any of our players have actually played in a cup final.

I wasnt there, but i think giving greer the captaincy as a loan player is something wilson has done as incentive for him to come here at the end of his contract at the end of the season.

also with whats been said about cox being  too deep, i think that because its been said timlin and nalis were passengers for some parts, and were also defensily minded, maybe cox was the link between attack and defense if the ball was played down the middle? radio said he was seen as an attacking midfielder at reading, so maybe its just his game and wilson told him to try it out today...just possibilities, good to see players putting effort in, bit of an arse about the result.

Macca worked harder, put alot less crosses in than Tuesday but they were better crosses. The one for Paynter was spot on. He seemed a little more direct but he did lose possesion alot.

Kanu looks better cutting in from the right, like Macca got it wide and some ok crosses. Neither were brilliant, neither were poor.

Whether our fans appreciate him or not, Kanu is a good footballer and will spend his career playing at a level higher than where we are right now.

As my man arriba said, I think they should have had a penalty in the second half, but as I have said before the referee didn't have a good game at all.

Having said that, the red card was justified.

Was it the fact that 'somebody' forgot to mark the line out on the DRS side Stratton bank half. Or was it they ran out of pasties. Both terrible crimes I think you'll agree.

No, I sit in the front row right behind the disabled, and they now do not allow you to go down near the pitch because the disabled fans have complained.  I can understand why they would do that whilst the game is going on, but what is wrong with going down near the pitch at half time or after the game.

My lad would like to go to the front to get autographs and we usually go to the front to applaude the team when they play well, but because the disabled fans have complained this is now not allowed.  Though the disabled fans still want their family that is sitting behind them in the stand to be able to come down the front as an exception.

I have been watching the moaning happen all season and now this has got my goat and I want to vent my spleen over it.  Yes I know they are disabled and deserve a certain amount of flexibility, but when a stand of 3000 people is banned from being able to go down to pitchside to applaude the players and all get directed down 4 or 5 stairways, just to keep maybe 20 disabled fans happy, I think this is wrong.

Am I wrong in having this point of view because of their disabilities?

Jammy cunts, totally lost count of the number of times we should have got the second, thought we were good today, for me Amankwaa was MOM, both Greer and Morrison were good but I thought Kev put in a textbook full-back's performance today.

Thought Nalis was ok, won his headers and got on with it but he did misplace quite a few passes, particularly 2nd half.

Have to say I was suprised it was Macca that gave way, I'm not in the Kanu's shit camp but I think we're more likely to see the end product we need from Macca - meh...

He probably hasn't - like all the plastic shit that follow his "club", he's only been watching football for a few years. Should have nutted him, juddie. Even if the magistrates didn't take the view that it was wholly justified by him being a fucking disgrace to humanity which would have been the only fair judgement and dismissed the case, you'd have got off with a fine, and I'd have been glad to pay that for you.

On a brighter note, we played as well today as we did badly the previous two Tuesdays. As juddie said, should have won by three or four. And while we have dropped into the bottom four, there's a few more sides have dropped back into the mix. Wilson just needs to get it into the players' heads they have to play like that every game and not just against the top sides. No good doing that against Franchise, Leicester and (probably) Leeds if we don't also do it against Hereford, Crewe, Northampton, Yeovil etc.

In 80/81, we went into the last game of the season needing a point to stay up v Brentford.

The only time I can remember us getting by our own efforts on the final game of a season.

It was the last season of 2 points for a win....of our last 13 games we only won the one, but drew 9.. under that system, draws were good results.

The following season, we couldn't adjust and went down to Div 4 for the first time with 52 points....Wimbledon went with 53.

We won 13 and drew 13....6 more wins this season might see us safe.

Was at the Brentford game, I think other results were important, because with about half an hour to go the game changed we were not taking any risks and would be OK as long as we got a point.  There could have been a remote chance we needed three points up until that point (if memory serves).  Brentford appeared happy with a point and they adopted a similar approach. Kamara and a few other players were swigging champagne in the stand after the game for a "warm-down".

I think Brentford helped us, they didn't want to lose the game, and appeared to make little attempt to win it.

No, I sit in the front row right behind the disabled, and they now do not allow you to go down near the pitch because the disabled fans have complained.  I can understand why they would do that whilst the game is going on, but what is wrong with going down near the pitch at half time or after the game.

Fair enough. I took my lad down there before the match, but presumably this is OK? Well tough shit really because we are doing it anyway.

Why was Wilson so happy after the game.  I think for the following reasons:

Did ok without Peacock, Ifil (starting) and Smith, the back four now picks itself.

Macca was effective, will be better with more muscle in central midfield.

Good chance of a midfield loanee (Wilson seemed reasonably confident).

Easton and Kanyuka might be fit for upcoming games.

Only issue was wasteful finishing, and of course the obligatory sloppy goal conceded.

MK must be happy to go home with a point.

He wasn't even the best centre half in a Town shirt.

See I am the opposite.

Today is weird. I was really chuffed with the performance but it has had the opposite effect on me. Against the likes of Cheltenham and Hartlepool we didnt win but we knew our team could have played better.

Today we played really well...BUT...still didnt win.

we play poor, we draw
we play good, we draw
we play well, we still draw

Performances go out the window now, it really is all about the points. I'd rather we played fucking gash today and scraped the most un deserved 1-0 win you will ever see in the history of football.

It depends what context you look at the game in. In isolation, or if we were mid table we'd pretty much all be saying it was a great performance but a shame we didn't score and get the three points.

Look at it in the context of the season we have let two vital points get away. Two points that could end up being the difference between relegation and survival.

We still have the teams around us. We have to hope that somehow we defy our form against lower half teams and beat them.

Amankwaah was deemed to be shit when playing for Malpas. Wilson seems to have got some good performances out of him. Who knows, maybe the same can happen with Easton?

I do know what you're getting at though and agree on this point. Too many times people think the solution is a different player and it turns out not to be the case. That's not to say a player cannot come in a rejuvenated player, just like Amankwaah.

There can be no 'camp of realism' though. We've spent practically all season outside the drop zone, we're not leaking as many goals and suddenly people seem to think the 'realistic' viewpoint is that we're not good enough and we're going down. There are two sides to the argument, the optimistic and the pessimistic. The realistic only becomes true if you're in Cheltanham's shoes and you're a s good as down. Until then, everyone else around the drop zone has got a good a chance as any to stay up or go down.

He's not been 100% for ages now, I think he needs a rest. Trouble is, you can't afford to rest your leading goalscorer, especially when Blair Sturrock seems to be his direct replacement.

Marshall didnt see much of the ball when he came on but the most obvious thing of note was he is alot more direct than McNamee and Kanu. He got his head down and ran. He actually got in behind the full back a few times. Two crosses got blocked for corners and the other time Lewington took him down because he knew he was away from him.

Now is really not the time to throw someone like Marshall in to asses him as we need points desperatly but maybe his directness might help us but I've not seen enough to know what his end product or defending is like

Why the fuck do people think Easton is the answer to our situation. He was good last season and has been bollox when has played this season. I'm firmly in the DV camp of realism about our situation

I think the difference between say Easton and Peacock this season is that Peacock has had a run in the team and Easton hasnt. They were our midfielders last season and they did a good job of it. Peacock hasnt lived up to it this season. Neither has Easton but Easton hasnt played enough. I'm a firm believer that someone playing every week is better than someone who isnt. The example would be say Shaun Wright-Phillips, awesome at Man City playing every week, first name on the team sheet. Went to Chelsea didnt play every week and is now a poorer player for it.

I'd like to see Easton given a run of games in midfield to see if he can be like he was last season but thats more out of hope than logic or anything else

At the moment I am looking purely at points. We do not win enough, the odd draw here and there is alright if you back them up with a few wins. Leicester and Millwall were good draws but then we go and lose to Hartlepool. We'd have been better off losing to Leicester and Millwall and beating Hartlepool.

Any other time in the season and I suppose i'd be happy about todays performance but the fact is we still cant seem to buy a win even when we play well like today. If our best, or at least if our decent form isnt enough to win games then what is? At the moment it looks like a team like Leyton Orient will drag themselves out of because in every 5 games they lose 2 and win 2 and draw 1. We on the other hand lose 0 and draw 5. They get 7 points we get 5.

Of course Amankwaah wasnt 'shit' under Malpas our stupid over re-active short term memory fans thought he was shit under Malpas. He came in to cover for injury and did alright, nothing like his current form but far from shit. Then he had a mare against Huddersfield and I dont think he played again till Wilson came in did he?

I'm not saying he was brilliant but he was ok under Malpas apart from Huddersfield but thats the one most of our fans remember. Not for example his first game away at MK when he was pretty damn solid.

Wilson and Amankwaah have previous, I mean Wilson gave Amankwaah his first professional contract and kept faith with him after he spent a long time out injured after his car crash. Wilson obviously rates him and you can see the confidence in Amankwaah, he's probably been our only improved player under Wilson, all the rest have been much the same.

Of course you are correct Si when you say our defence is much more solid but we dont look as good going forward. I used to fancy us to score every game but as soon as Cox hit the bar today it just seemed like it wasnt going to be our day. For once I dont have all the stats but Cox seemed to score more under Malpas. Now maybe we've sacrificed some of Cox attacking play to shore up the team (ie Cox dropping deep) I dunno.

Maybe Cox is just burnt out. I suppose this is probably his first actual full season and he's probably played more than all our players. He missed one game through suspension and got subbed off once but I think he's played every other minute

The only midfielder who has strung a consistent run of 3 or 4 decent games together this season has been Pook,. Admittedly, he has been shite in some games but he had a real purple patch that no others have. Easton does not impose himself on the opposition. Peacock runs out of steam and can' pass. Timlin is a 1 in 10 players, gives the ball away far too cheaply and does a lot of really dumb, stupid tackles, Nalis is shot, Kanyuka is a promising player but not a midfielder,  JPM was better when Malaps went but has zero bottle, etc, etc.
I'm not talking up Pook, merely stating that the others are equally as shite if not worse - our midfield is booolx and it doesn't matter what combination you use, they're all equally ineffective.

Whilst that is all true.

Easton, Peacock, Timlin and JPM all did a good job for us last season.

They were good enough players then and they have all suddenly gone downhill this season for whatever reason. I guess alot of our fans hope they will regain the form they had under Sturrock.

Although this probably says more about Sturrock and his coaches compared to Wilson and our current coaches than the players in question.

Apart from Comminges did we lose any first teamers over the summer? Same squad, worse results

Easton was not superb last season, he was the best of a bad bunch. He was OK to good, nothing more but still good enough to be in the top 3 of Player of the Season. That's basically because the others were shite and the bar was set so low.

we were far from shite last season and the likes of Comminges, Aljofree, Ifil, Vincent, JPM, Easton, Peacock, Cox & Paynter all had decent seasons.

Easton wasnt the best of a bad bunch last season, he was the best of a decent squad that comfortabley finished mid table

I thought Cox was shite again today. I don't buy the attacking midfielder role bollocks. It's been said for ages that he gets through too much fucking work in all the wrong areas. He's a fucking striker - end of. Bout time Wilson told him that in no uncertain terms if he hasn't done so already.

Agree that Kanu has loads of potential and is a quality player but he's in Aljofree's 'playing for myself' gang at the moment. He took bollockings from Vincent, Greer and Nallis on 3 seperate occasions today for being too fucking selfish and keeping the ball then losing it, rather than just playing an obviously easy pass to keep a flowing move going. He'll probably develop with a bit more experience and games under his belt but we need his creativity during the run in. Not knocking him too hard as can take the piss when he wants to and gives us options when he's in the mood. I'd just prefer to see him playing a genuine part in the team rather than cunting around as an individual who's motivated only for himself.

I don't know how many compo exec lounge pints Juddie put away before the match - sadly not enough to have chinned the ugly fucking Franchise supremo, Winkledick - but I thought Nallis and Timlin pretty much ran the midfield today. If you look at the chances we made and the overall restrictions we put on franchises' goal scoring opportunities, it suggests that either they weren't up to much as a team, or our central midfielders bossed the middle of the park and kept them quiet. Nallis and Timlin have both had extreme periods of fucking shittness this season and have rightly been slaughtered, but I thought they did all the simple things right today.

Anyway. it was a much better and more committed performance from everyone today. I thought Wilson was either fucking brave or fucking stupid to drop Ifil after one shit performance under him last Tuesday, but sticking Morrison in paid off as he had a very solid game alongside Greer, and Ifil looked much stronger and more confident when he came on.

Wilson does seem to be taking firm control of the squad. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about reputations or the opinions of others and just gets on with playing and motivating a side to do a job for him. He does need to get some wins on the board soon, but I suspect he knows exactly who's going to be on his retention list and who's going to be fucked off at the earliest opportunity when the season finishes.

It was ace to see the 69 players get such a good round of applause today. Franchise fans must of wondered what that strange looking silver cup thingy was that was being handed around and held up high by the ex town players, but at least some of the thieving cunts had the good grace to stand up and clap some genuine fucking top-draw legends of the game they've recently latched on to - the plastic motherfucking cunts!

one amusing quote i heard yesterday
"fucking hell, imagine how many goals cox would've had if he'd scored all his chances"

perhaps that why he's playing in league 1, possibly league 2 next year!

leggett trying to get into a fight with some morons about cox and kanu being from reading was pretty funny.

Not sure who said it but Ifil wasn't dropped after one bad performance, he's been crap all season.  Morrison should not have been dropped in the first place, as he has had a much better season than Jerel. I hope Morrison's injury that forced him off was not too serious as he plays in a maturity beyond his years.

Oh and good to see Macca get another assist, and win a few corners yesterday, the lad deserves his place in the starting XI.  Amankwaah played very well looks like he's going to turn out to be a very good signing.

Still think letting McDons wear red at the CG was an utter disgrace.

Paynter had a good game. Timlin didnt. Everyone else did pretty well I thought?

Good full blooded exciting game. Weve had 2 out of the last 4 home games that were actually worth money to watch, which is a better ratio than the rest of the season!

Only wins are good enough now and Im looking forward to it. Our team obviously doesnt give a fuck about the cups and were not good enough to be top 6, so this is the only way the season was ever going to be exciting! Bring it on!

To be fair Batch usually I don't condone the use of personal abuse just because of the team they may support, but with franchise supporters I endorse it completely.  I hate those club stealers just as much as Oxford and that's saying something.  What they've done is simply not right.

Personally I wouldn't allow them on here, would rather have real supporters of proper football clubs on here, like OF for example, than listen to the thoughts of franchisees.

i don't really see how that is remotely relevent but i'm curious

did you support a team before the Franchise were formed?
do you recognise the fact that you effectively stole a football club?
do you consider the history of wimbledon fc part of the history of Franchise? i.e. who won the 1989 fa cup trophy?

Death to football franchisement!

'We want to return to being a sport, with each club connected to its own community' Michel Platini this week.

In this country we can only see the £££ signs. But there are signs that people at the top are beginning to realise that clubs like Franchise make a mockery of football.

They did. It was the other lot who swanned off to start a new side while their proper side was left to die at Selhurst. Those Wimbledon fans who had the bollocks to stand up to the intimidation, threats and media manipulation from the militant ranks at Kingsmeadow deserve a fucking medal, not critisism from some under-informed bunch of do-right protagonists who thinks it's fashionable to indulge in football politics.

Mainstream opinion? Most of the fuckers in this country thought they were doing the right thing by voting the Labour party back into power!

Part of the fun in supporting our lot is the fact it fucks off the likes of you lot, who are so 'Johnny-Come-Lately' with your attitudes that it tickles the arse of me when you accuse us of plasticity.

Swindon used to be a decent club, with fans who could hold their own against the likes of Oxford and the Bristol sides. You're just the same as us now. Replica shirt wearing newbies who don't have a fucking clue, but like to make the right noises so they can 'integrate' properly.

No - My passion for this lot is hardly deep-rooted. I'm just enjoying affordable football, home and away, on a weekly basis.

You're either a quality wind up with a true talent for irony, or you're a moron who doesn't know what irony is.

And yet you don't understand why we look down on you when our passion is deep-rooted, and you've the nerve to have a go because we empathise with fans who used to feel the same way but who've had their club taken away?

A few, and it is only a few. There's also regular support from former WFC fans living in places like Farnborough, Epsom and Winchester. The numbers aren't large, but they are there.

Passion isn't instant, and anyone in MK claiming to be passionate about the Dons (unless they're old WFC fans or under 12) needs to take a raincheck. It's growing though, whether you find that acceptable or not.

Or you could answer my question.

I don't recall avoiding one, unless ignoring a rant that deserved little by way of reply constitutes a blanking these days.

You've used two question marks but not actually asked a question.
