Title: Wilts Shield Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 09:51:38 Away at chipenham tonight, looks like a strong-ish team going
“I think we’re looking at Breznovan, Amankwaah, Ifil, Aljofree, Kennedy, Marshall, Allen, I don’t know, McGovern and up front, Barry Corr and Ben Joyce,” Said Budgie. Be good to see how Ifil is looking. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 09:55:44 WE'RE GONNA WIN THE CUP, WE'RE GONNA WIN THE CUP....
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:03:08 We probably are. Cup glory for the town. Hoorah.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:03:53 Mind youits not a cup, its a shield.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:05:05 We probably are. Cup glory for the town. Hoorah. Wonder if we get an open top bus ;) Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: A Gent Orange on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:05:44 “We’ve got to go to Bristol Rovers without Coxy, but I’m confident we can get a result because I’ve got players who will put their lives on the line".
Nice quote from Byrne there perhaps he knows that Corr's next injury could be fatal. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:19:59 What was the chant at Brighton?
We'd rather have a shield than a cup? Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: trogladite on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:24:42 I fancy going to this one. Is it junction 17 then follow signs for town centre then somewere on the left? I've been there before but can't remember directions for the life of me.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:32:27 Germany vs. England > Chippenham vs. Swindon Reserves
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:34:20 What was the chant at Brighton? We'd rather have a shield than a cup? Yes that was a good night and Totally agree, England Germany over Swindon reserves V Chippenscum! Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:40:32 Germany vs. England > Chippenham vs. Swindon Reserves Strongly Disagree Disagree Neither Disagree or Agree Agree Strongly Agree Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: pauld on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 10:42:07 See, who said our season is over? There's Wiltshire Shield glory still to be had - Mabel, dust out that cabinet :)

Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 11:24:04 Both fixtures are quite pointless... But if I had the choice I'd go to the Wilts Shield game.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 11:25:15 malpas was clearly sacked too early then. MM failed to win the Wilts Shield last season...he could have gone then. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 11:45:25 Germany vs. England > Chippenham vs. Swindon Reserves Its all reserve teams apart from chippenhams. Wilts shield is mainly pointless (contested between 4 teams) but Id rather watch a live match where a lower league team will try to get on over on illustrious opponents rather than sit at home enduring ITV commentary on an international reserve team game. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: trogladite on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 11:49:10 IS THERE ANYBODY WHO WILL GIVE ME DIRECTIONS?
Or maybe I'll type Hardenhuish into my satnav and see what that does. You don't HAVE to listen to the commentary, try utilising the mute facility I am sure your remote control has and put some whale music on instead. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 11:55:08 IS THERE ANYBODY WHO WILL GIVE ME DIRECTIONS? Or maybe I'll type Hardenhuish into my satnav and see what that does. It's just off that one way system, not sure how you'd approach it from the motorway, but if you drive through town, go under the railway bridge and carry straight on (to the one way system), stay in the left hand lane, go over the roundabout and carry on a bit, you'll be there. I think. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 12:00:20 Its all reserve teams apart from chippenhams. Chippenham don't have a reserve team though do they? I'd say I am a supporter of my national team, but this fixture seems so unbelievably irrelevant even though it's against ze Germans, a nation we "loathe" but from what I've read, on the whole it's one way loathing. They're not that bothered by England. As far as the England squad is concerned, I think it's made more interesting by the fact that all of these "superstars" are ruled out. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 12:05:05 IS THERE ANYBODY WHO WILL GIVE ME DIRECTIONS? Or maybe I'll type Hardenhuish into my satnav and see what that does. Ok, here the quick way. Off the Mway at J17. Follow the A350 to the roundabout at the end (morrisons / large petrol station on your right.) take first exit at this roundabout (carrying straight on). Turn right at the traffic light (into hardehuish lane) follow the road past the schools (on your left) at the mini roundabout turn left and follow the road. You'll see the ground up on your left. Park on the road anywhere down there. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: trogladite on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 12:07:45 cheers GK seems straight forward to me.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 12:16:14 I've just realised that haven't been to Hardenhuish Park since about 2001. I went most weeks between 1998-2001. My old man organises the away travel for Chippenham fans.

Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: donkey on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 18:01:27 I like Germans, I just really like beating them at football. Sums up my view. They do beer and meat very well. Proper country that is. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 18:27:55 My 3 and a half years I had in Germany were the best of my childhood. I was in West Germany during Italia '90 and even as young as I was I recall the German celebrations when they won.
Beating the Germans in a football match is good fun to us desperate, clutching at straws England fans that need something to celebrate. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 18:30:37 They do beer and meat very well. And Blitzkrieg Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: donkey on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 18:44:33 And Blitzkrieg Nah, they've been shite at that for nigh on 65 years. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 22:07:27 Too early for the champaigne! :)
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 22:14:13 Am I right in saying that the Wilts FA have to stage a County competition under some kind of FA ruling?
Bring back teams like Westbury (Cuervo goal celebration there was awesome) ! Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Saxondale on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 22:21:54 My understanding is that they do and several years ago Swindon decided not to compete as it was too big. The Wilts FA then agreed to Swindond demands that only over a certain level should compete. So now the competition is a mighty 4 teams, Swindon, Chip, Salisbury and Supermarine. Not really much of a competition these days.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: STFC_Gazza on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 22:23:03 Am I right in saying that the Wilts FA have to stage a County competition under some kind of FA ruling? Bring back teams like Westbury (Cuervo goal celebration there was awesome) ! Think so... I remember Andy King I think said "the winner should get to play swindon's first team as the prize" so we didnt ave to take part relaly. Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 22:31:04 I pine for the days of Macari when we used to play for the Herefordshire shield, in a pre season game v unsurprisingly Hereford. Think we won it something like 3 years in a row..Lou liked to get some early silverware.
Title: Re: Wilts Shield Post by: leefer on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 22:33:46 Didnt Lou like to take the team that way for his SAS style bootcamps for training.
