Post by: DMR on Sunday, April 24, 2005, 18:56:01
The cricket season, that is.

My first game (friendly) today, against Kennet Valley. Yours truly waltzes to a lovely 95 despite it being the first first game for 6 months.

We then skittle KV for a pathetic 157 in reply to our 230 odd.

Copious amounts of Stella in the pub afterwards.

I can now officially say fuck football.

That's a question with many answers

Saturdays- league cricket with Devizes

Sundays- friendlies with Bishops Cannings seniors

Midweek- U18 20 over league for BC

You should come if we play away that's local to you, come and have a beer in the sunshines innit

Calne's youth setup was fucking terrible

They had "I'm going to play for England" Courtney Earle who me and a lad called Charlie Moss spanked all over the fucking paddock

Oh, I'll be Devizes 3rds this season

Why will you be in the 3rds this year when you only played 1 game for the 4ths in 2004 and managed just 3 runs.

We (Winterthur) start with a pre-season friendly against Freiburg on Sunday. Nothing like a good tussle with the Germans to get the season going. Unfortunately most of the locals have the same attitude to cricket as Yeovil.

We (Goatacre!) had a 3rds game yesterday but I wernt here, so dunno wot happened.
Friendlies today (wasn't home in time) and tomorrow (out again!) too.

Next week maybe? Don't know if there's a game on Sunday, but I'm not missing the spectacle that will be Swindon vs Chesterfield!!!

Jiff?! The thirds!

All the first and second teamers put their names down so we had a stupidly strong team out!

I assume we won? Not seen anybody to find out...

for the 1sts yesterday we turned up and no-one was there. apparently they'd called the league to cancel and forgot to tell us. all this after they asked to move the game from its original date (in June) cos they've got a fete on their ground. the fuckin twats better have points deducted. after wasting 2 hours there and back we went to watch our 3rds play in a friendly which they won

today we beat chalford in a friendly by 23 runs. i scored 48 whilst our number 9 clubbed 30* off 11 balls and then took 3/21.

Are Chalford any good these days Boeta? I used to play for them many years ago and they were starting to go downhill from the team of the 70's / early 80's which got to the 1/4 finals of the National Village cup a couple of times.

1/4 finals? We won the thing twice!

Got to the quarters last year too and really did throw it away chasing about 170! :(

You didn't hear what happened in the changing rooms afterwards, but that has been confined to the realms of time I'm afraid!

They're pretty average. they had their 1sts out whilst we had a mix of our 1sts, 2nds and 3rds. I think they scraped promotion to County League Division 2 last year but they'll struggle I'd have thought.
