Title: "Mystery Investor" - again
Post by: TalkTalk on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, 07:58:58
Smarmes was on Beeb Swindon again this morning talking about the almost imminent injection of dosh by the mystery investor.

Ed suggested that a lot of supporters would be sceptical, having heard this one so many times before. Bless him.

The way they are playing this I'd say they are talking to someone. But whether progress is being overstated or not is another matter.

Interestingly the BBC RS report said that although the amounts were not known it is beleived that Sir Seaton Wills would still be involved in the club.  I hope that doen't mean retention of his advisor/certain board members.

We need either a shit load of money or a complete change in leadership before things will ultinmately settle down and everyone can return to enjoying the football, whilst pulling in the same direction off the field.

As it's three weeks since Andronikou said there's be an announcement in two weeks I'd expect this is as much an attempt to stave off "So where is he then?" as anything.

Who in their right mind or with any business brain entrust large amounts with Newbury and co.

24 days left until the CVA is due- the clock is ticking down fast.

Also why wont they sign the bloody NDA?

considering Starnes is also in today's adver insisting there was "no decision to make" over the rovers groundshare, it's clearly another blatant piece of male cow poo.

Actually to be fair to Starnes he's right that there was no decision to make in that it was taken out of their hands - Rovers looked at the amount of opposition the idea was attracting, saw that Swindon were making a total dog's breakfast of the PR/consultation process (and running the risk of substantial opposition on a political level) and concluded it was a mess that wasn't going to be sorted out in the timeframes they needed in order to satisfy the League and sell season tickets so they pulled the plug. So no decision was needed by STFC in that sense as it was made for them.

Once the CVA payment is made .. Is this the 'bullet payment' that will clear the CVA off? This leaving us with a substantially decreased debt?

Yes, that's correct. Although there's two problems with that:

1) Both the board and Andronikou have repeatedly said they have no chance of paying it
2) They've accumulated quite a lot of other debt in the meantime

starnes was trying to make it sound as though they weren't for or against the idea, which is the bit that is bollocks

It is the bullet payment meaning the debt covered by the CVA will be paid off.

However there will still be debts arising from our year on year losses since the CVA regarding servicing of whatever it is we have borrowed/mortgaged/etc to cover these losses.

edit: arse, 2 mins too late (see above)

Yes year on year losses accrued by this board. This is why no one in their right mind will give them any moneyand let them retain control. Surely?

That is a classic bit of the article.  After reading back of yesterdays Western Daily Press in which the Rovers chairman said we were very co-operative and positive in negotiations and effectively offered them the hand of friendnship I would say our board were doing everything they could to push it through.

Todays article with Starnes was predictable, boring and complete horse shit.  Definitely think this was a big win for the fans and the public of Swindon and also big plus points again for the adver who kept it in the public eye and covered several articles on it, Andy Cryer has been good lets hope he continues in the same style.

ffs this board do my nut.

they have a sound investor with BP and a way to move this club forward yet they are hell bent on staying and pissing us off even more.

When willy gained control of the club 5 years ago he did so by forcing the other guys out (forgot what it's called) can BP not do this with Willy and the cunt diamond Mike

I know this is Swindon Town and we whould never be surprised, but Starnes says on the BBC web site:

"I understand the investment would be substantial and make a big difference to Swindon Town's finances."

He 'understands' that the investment will be substantial, he's the Chief Executive FFS if he doesnt know who bloody does!

Sturrock is back with talk of an investor. For this to be BS would really, really stupid ....

Good afternoon

I hope you are all well and enjoying a few Saturday's away from football after what was a successful season for us. I returned from my holiday late last night and as you can see, it's straight back to the thick of things!

The Kingswood Group have now been announced as the club's new main sponsors and I am delighted with the news. They are a local company and it kicks-off the year in the right way. I want us, as a football club, to be closer to the community of Swindon and we have started things how we mean to go on. Kingswood have helped us already with the redevelopment of the referee's room last season and they also donated a van to assist with kit transportation. I am looking forward to developing what is already an excellent relationship we have with The Kingswood Group.

Kingswood Construction Launch

I think most managers and most players are on holiday at this moment in time. I have made a lot of phone calls and spent a fair amount of time whilst on the cruise making calls. I have a lot of feelers out and I am waiting on word from several agents about their players availability. There is nothing concrete at the moment, but now I am back things will start to move although I do have a few people who are keen to join us. In a few weeks time the shoe will be on the other foot, with agents phoning me.

There has been a lot of speculation whilst I have been away, linking ourselves with several of my former players. In principle this is something that may interest me, because I would know the players well but that would be the case in any case of life. It gives me options that's for sure. There are many areas I'd like to strengthen and we shall see what develops over the coming weeks.

They said...
Quote
I have targets and I am sure things will start to move sooner rather than later...
Quote
Paul Sturrock

Investors are on the horizon and if that comes to fruition then the goalposts would move for me in terms of transfer targets. I am very hopeful that the investment will happen and it would help me in my search for 'prime beef' to add to the squad.

Andy Nicholas and Michael Pook were away on holiday when I left for my break, so I will be talking to them this week. There are still places to fill in the squad and I still have to have conversations with Blair, Claude and Patrick too. I am looking to streamline the squad for League One although there are key areas we need to fill.

I am now going to head back to Sheffield to take my family back home, although I have a meeting with an agent on my way back!

Despite the hitches, Sturrock, who is expecting an update from the board about the potential takeover in the next couple of days, is full of confidence things will work out.

Cue statement from stfc tomorrow on "Statement Friday" advising that the mystery investor has been scared off due to Bill's threat of legal action and that as there has not been any further communication from Bill's legal advisers they consider this matter closed and the fan;s consortium have been disolved, and are glad that Bill accepts his money was for shares.

Then then Bill issues a counter statement advising that he has recieved a court date.

Then a counter statement from stfc saying if Bill would like to get in touch they will discuss a takeover.

Has ex-Millwall chairman Peter de Savary's name been mentioned before?

If it’s the same investor mentioned by Diamandis’ he fits the bill as the local entrepreneur and once owned the Wills’ estate.

He resigned from Millwall after just 10 months having taken control from Dragon’s Den Theo Pathathathathis but still holds a large investment in their holding company.  Not sure what the legality would be of having an interest in two clubs albeit via holding companies.
