Think I'm gonna walk to the railway of the steamy variety in a bit. Having a roast dinner first though. Isn't life good?

I'm feeling optamistic and still a bit pissed from last night. I think it's gonna be 3-0. 1 in the first half and 2 in the second.

I wonder if I can persuade someone to have a bbq after the football. Then I could have a roast dinner and a bbq in one day. that would be mental, although I can't be bothered to do one myself.

I honestly don't see the point of being a football supporter if you have that attitude. I can understand why you may be pesimistic (or realistic as VD would say) but without hope, there's little point.

I reckon England will turn it on today, though don't expect the score to be too convincing.  Come on Engerland.

Poor first half. England look devoid of ideas. Midfield not creating anything. Are Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham playing ?

Only positive being the scoreline at 0-0.

Hope our 1 half performance is going to be in the 2nd half and that we are not going to get worse than the first !

Take Beckham off and put Lennon on and Play 4-4-1-1. With Gerrard just behind Rooney.

There we go ! A workmanlike performance. Did Ecuador look poor because England stiffled them or were they just an average team ? Looking forward to finding out against Portugal or Netherlands.

Come on the Cloggies !

I thought it was a very competent performance,we did enough to win and looked fairly comfortable. It was a improvement on the Sweden game at least.Still i can't help but think that Portugal or Holland won't be too worried about playing us,but we're there in the QF's,anything could happen now :)

Well we just about scraped that one, but its the same As the last game and the last and the last :(  I don't mean to be so negative but its true. The players always say they'll step up the game but I never see it(But then again who cares how you play if you win games).I think they are alot of better teams than us. I have not seen one game yet where I can safely say 'we were amazing'. Thing everyone knows we can play really well sometimes and we can.

People say we seem to do better against the good teams, so portugal.....maybe? :?  We'll see.

Oh and I hope Mr.Beckham is ok now. What a goal.

Thought we played quite well (not exciting, but professional) and apart from a couple of defensive mistakes we were in control of the game.  Plenty of shots again and this was a team many had hyped up after their performances against Costa Coffee and Poland.  As it was Ecuador didn't really have a sniff of their own making and sat back (like most teams so far against us) for the full 90 mins.  Even after they went behind they very rarely produced anything, in fact we looked even more assured towards the end.

My only complaint would be not taking off Beckham sooner.  I'm no Doctor but I'm thinking you can't be 100% after throwing up in game.  Should have replaced him straight away.

My Thoughts:

I think we did ok. The formation made us hard to break down, Equador only had 1 real chance and that came from Terry's mistake and Robinsons indecision. Breat block by Ashley Cole though.

The stats show Equador had more shots than us, but this is misleading as I remember at least 3 or 4 higly speculative efforts from 30+ yards in the second half, when they seemed totally devoid of any other ideas. Part of that stems from Equadors own deficiencies, part of that from good organised play from England.

The inclusion of carrick meant we kept the ball much better than usual, he dosnt break up as much play as Hargreaves did against Sweden, but the upside is he has the ability to play incisive forward passes. In the same role, Hargreaves is mostly sideways and backwards. Hargreaves himself had another good game, and I'd keep him there v Portugal, possibly even if G Neville is fit due to Nevilles lack of match practice and training in the last few weeks.

Despite the tabloid mentality of everything either being brilliant or shite, the truth is our performance was OK in my opinion, nothing more nothing less. We do need to improve to beat Portugal, but there were enough positives to suggest this can still happen for me. Several passes were marginally overhit towards Rooney (mainly be Lampard) on another day these would have presented a goalscoring chance for us.

On the subject of Rooney, quite where he got that perfomance from I'll never know. Its not that he was brilliant thoughout, just flashes of brilliance, but bearing in mind he had a broken foot 7 or 8 weeks ago I thought his performance and physical contition were incredible.

I'd play the same team and same formation against Portugal.
