Site has been updated; like the new layout.

Worth a look if you like to look back at history, old stats etc.

It was. As you say, after 8 games, w1 d 2 l5.

The remaining 38 games was w30 d 5 l3. And I believe I'm correct in saying that the last 21 games of the season were unbeaten, winning 18 of them! Those were the days.

Won 15 home games in a row, only lost 1 home game and only drew 2, won the other 20. Won the championship by 18 points from the 2nd placed club.

I like the friendly against "The 29th Transport and Movements Regiment"! at the start of that season.

50 people watched that, Swindon won 9-1.

Luckily I was 17/18 when that season took place, just got my own car (if you could call it a car!) so got to a few games. Then the next few seasons were pretty good as well. 86-96 were ten exciting years watching town; 96-06 not so good! Maybe the next few will be better again, feeling a bit more positive at the moment.

The last time we played Hereford in a league game was that 85/86 season.

First away game and we lost 4-1.

Would be a good opener for this campaign.

It's a class site, that, always has been. But with the new makeover, especially like the logo, it's even better. Hats off to Mr Banyard!

Richard's site just got even better, 1426 Football Pinks have been scanned and added to the pages. https://m.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1035925966492929&id=116225345129667

We are lucky to have it/him.

Indeed, it is the best site for any information about STFC anywhere by a long long way. Love the site.

I'm not sure if still the case, but I suppose about 10 years ago now, I was doing some research for a contribution to a book about players, world wide.

Very difficult, as even many of the traditional big clubs of English football, you know Burnley, Huddersfield, Pompey had nothing as comprehensive as Richard's site....foreign clubs even less so.

It is indeed a treasure house.  I've said it before about the the way the club is going.....it is things like this and the efforts of the likes of Plowman, along with the hardcore loons who go week in week out, where the spirit of the club lives...oh and the TEF to an extent.

I was just reading the report for my first ever match at home to Shrewsbury on 10 April 1976.

http://www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk/MatchCentre.asp?MatchID=19760141

I'm hoping that's the correct link, the comment bit is interesting -

"The restrictions by reporter Bob Spivey by the Swindon Town board has included a ban on the interviewing of players....unfortunately we cannot tell you because of the boards petty restrictions...."

Seems that there was some sort of ban in place back then as well

What do you mean as well? There is no ban now.
