Title: Ricky Shakes’ chance ….
Post by: Fred Elliot on Saturday, April 15, 2006, 19:27:08
From my position in the Town End I could see straight into his face and I can honestly say he froze ………….. easter bunny in the headlights ! …..did not know what to do or where he wanted to slot the ball so ……………. he did nothing and put it straight at the keeper !

World Cup hopeful ? ……………… don’t be so fucking daft !

He bottled it end off. As did most of our players. Because theres no belief we can stay up by them fucking players.

Expect alot of exits end of the season.

You couldnt have that a good view considering he put it wide....no where near the keeper...

Pro footballer you would be expected to take that chance, but everyone in the ground knew exactly what was coming and probably one of the only playes u didnt want in that position

Everyone knows you take it around the keeper and make sure in that situation. Especially with his pace. I was side on, but I knew he'd miss as soon as he struck it early.

Unfortunately that marks him out as simply not a proper pro. Just like Danny Invincible.

we all make mistakes. but if iffy motivates them more then i think we have a chance today

What?

Yes he missed a good chance but Cureton's missed plenty of piss easy tap ins.

Curetons the same for me as well. Cant kick a ball straight half the time. Just not solid footballers. Whats your problem?

You questioned Shakes' proffessionality, not his ability.

cureton is a good player if it wasnt for him we would have been relegated already

Players who cant dribble, make easy passes and score easy goals are not proper pro footballers.

I felt it about Invincible and Sabin. Now Shakes and Cureton. All dodgy. If you get paid to play them game you expect a certain level.

Saw Cureton come out yesterday. I didnt speak to him because I know hes done his best, but deep down he is partly to blame for us being relegated. Its harsh, but harsh words need to be said now. Mcdons were a lot better than us, and so were Hartlepool last week.

Yeah SW, I agree with you in the sense that they're not up to it in terms of quality/ability. Thing is I interpreted what you said as meaning you though Shakes didn't give a fuck which is what I was contending. I don't think Curo gives a fuck, but Shakes does.

End of the day, as you say niether of them are good enough but at least the efforts there (sometimes).

I dont know whether its commitment or concentration or what. But those 4 players all have one thing in common, no consistancy to their game. All capable of being good players, but rarely deliver.

I never thought Invincible was a good player and the same goes for Cureton. I wouldnt back any of them to score 1 on 1s or even a penalty. If I consistantly made mistakes in my job I would be considered unprofessional, so why not footballers?

Shakes obviously cares, Cureton slightly less. I think having a go back at the fans shows he's not prepared to hang around this summer. Worst offenders for not giving a fuck this season Nicholas, O'Hanlon, Fallon(!), all the loan players.

Yeah I'd agree with all that.

Wouldnt be suprised if Curo has played his last game for us. The spat yesterday looked like a player who had given up in despair. Cant say im that bothered. Too frustrating. I cant forgive that miss at Yeovil.

I'm more enraged about the 'pool penalty. Although I'd already retired to the Winners...

Nah, your not thinking like a lad Dave. If we had scored that chance at Yeovil it would have been carnage. Lads on the pitch, going nuts.

Hartlepool would have just been another goal in front of the empty stratton bank.

First thing I thought when I saw him arguing was, 'he's off then'.  Misses shitloads of chances, though in an ideal world I'd like him still around next year.

I could hardly stand at Yeovil, I was in no mood for carnage  :D

Stumbling into the Indian restaurant in town after the game pleading for the toilet was the closest I got to carnage.

Im always in the mood for a bit of terrace carnage.  :D

Shame we rarely seem to get any, maybe next season on a few of those div 4 garden sheds.

Torquay if they stay up is the best. Love the low roof down there make plenty of racket.

I'm off galavanting around the globe by November so hopefully we can fit a few good ones in early on...

Cureton has 7 this for us in half a season. An amateur/non professional or whatever would not get that many. Invincicbile is now playing in the fifth best team in the SPL, which I would say  is a huge step up from STFC, and Shakes just put us 2-1 up in a must-win game.

You're right about Sabin though :D

It doesnt matter, I dont rate any of them as footballers. Thats my opinion. Sabin scored some screamers for Northampton too. But I dont care cos they all make shitty mistakes all the time.

As for must win game - dont be hard on yourself fella.

Its true. If we win two more we wil stay up imo now. City has to be one and who knows? Brentford lost today didn't they? and Hudds may not have anything to play for on the last day!

We are crap, but there is still hope.
