Title: Health Post by: walrus on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 17:57:41 As part of my New Year's Resolution I promised myself I'd improve my fitness so maybe I can play a but of Sunday League Football next season. I've cut back on the pies and chocolate, but someone was telling me today a pint has as many calories as a bar of chocolate. Is this actually true? It will make me think twice about drinking and I don't like that idea!
I go to the gym about 4-6 times a week, and do about 30 mins aerobic exercise - running, biking etc... and sometimes do a few weights. Is this good enough?! I'm trying to get my weight down to about 10 st - I'm currently about 10.5st. This is a thread strictly for meterosexuals only.... Title: Health Post by: oxford_fan on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 18:02:47 good work there, seems as though you've got stuck in well by going 4-6 times a week.
Title: Health Post by: Boeta on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 18:08:14 How boring. Never been to a gym in my life.

Title: Health Post by: blinkpip on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 19:06:19 You cut back on pies, what about the county ground burgers?
I wished they still did the bacon rolls in the south stand. Title: Health Post by: Onion_Jimbo on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 19:33:55 My manager gave up smoking and now runs every day and never eats unhealthy food. You should all be ashamed of yourself.
Title: Health Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 19:36:30 OJ what do you do to keep fit?
Title: Health Post by: yeo on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 19:44:16 I cycle to work and walk the dog,I ride fast but walk slow thats all the exercise I do.Ive thought about jogging the dog around the field a couple of times every morning but I find it hard to motivate myself and feel a bit self concious about it .
I was playing with a blood pressure machine earlier and mine is dangerously high ,I might die any time 8) On the plus side today is my 20th day without a fag which is quite an achievment for a 20-30 a day man. Title: Health Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 19:49:30 i used to go to the gym, but all i do now is walk to and from uni. That takes 25mins though! Don't watch what i eat/drink as don't really put much weight on
Title: Health Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 19:55:15 Talking of walking, I was over on the Rivals Brentford site for a shufty, and some of their fans are planning to walk to Hartlepool to raise money for the club, for when they play them back end of Feb.......they're also including some other charities in it.
Apparently when they were on the brink of relegation last season, someone rashly said "if we stay up I'll walk ot H/Pool" A 50 mins walk a day is probably about as much as you need to keep in good shape. Title: Health Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 20:19:28 I go to the gym about once a week or so when I have time. Also have 45 minute walk to uni and back. 10 stone is not much walrus, how tall are you? I am just over 11 stone.
Title: Health Post by: Onion_Jimbo on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 20:21:42 i do nothing to keep fit. Apart from drinking and dancing

Alternate the sessions - aerobics, running, biking one day then cardio stuff the next. Get fit, but tone up at the same time. Title: Health Post by: walrus on Thursday, January 20, 2005, 23:27:34 I'm only around 5"9, so 10.5 st is about right I think! I quite enjoy going to the gym, its just I never know whether to focus on weights or aerobic. I guess alternating could be the answer, what are you guys' regimes?
Title: Health Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, January 21, 2005, 00:37:10 I don't really have a regime but I mainly do rowing and a bit of a running.
Title: Health Post by: janaage on Friday, January 21, 2005, 09:14:22 I signed up to the gym two weeks ago, got the woman there to make up a plan for me.
On weight days I run for 10-15 mins as a warm up then do the weights (nothing to heavy), do the ab thingy too, then have a bike ride to finish off, or another run, then go for a swim, a jacuzzi, steam room and then sauna. On c.v. days I run for 20 mins, bike ride for 20 mins, bit of rowing, then the ab thingy again. Then head to the pool for a bit too. I'm going about 4 times a week at the minute. Title: Health Post by: Piemonte on Friday, January 21, 2005, 09:33:19 I've lost 10 pounds now on my new year diet. cant be arsed/afford to join a gym (and its boring as fuck)
I've just cut all the fat out of my diet and am eating less in general. been out running twice a week and doing 60 press ups and sit ups 3 times a week. Sunday league starts again on sunday (!) so they'd better watch out. A leaner, meaner pie face will be prowling the midfield Title: Health Post by: janaage on Friday, January 21, 2005, 09:36:18 Problem for me is that as I'm a thin chap anyway last thing I wanna do is lose more weight. I need to put some on really but most of these health drives and gym plans are for getting trimmer. The only thing I seem to be able to do is tone up a bit.
