i had to walk past about 4 betting shops(it's almost a job for the people here to stay in them all day) and i was sorely tempted to put a tenner of benji scoring the last in a 3-1 home win

i'd settle for 2-0, 1-0 or 2-1 though :P

This is such an important game (again) ... I hope we don't bottle it - With Trevor B. brought in I'll be VERY suprised if you don't play 2 up front, if not 3 tonight!

This sucks. I gotta work till 10pm so I'm missing my FIRST home game of the season tonight.

2-1 to the Town, Walsall will take the lead though. 2 second half strikes from Peacock and Shakes I reckon

COME ON TOWN!!!!!!!! :D

Off out to Tesco to pick up some 20p sarnies, I'll report back shortly with my purchases! :)

Me or the spastic?

What I mean't is, it's much more likely that the link will be spotted on there by the powers that be, and they'll change the link, meaning it will cease to work in the future. Making sense so far?

Not having a pop at you, it's been posted on the TEF a few times before, I'd just rather PM people with it that request it.

Sounds like Town have been lively all half and could have had a bigger lead than they do.

Seems like it was a fantastic goal from Cureton.

actually don't bother it seems fucked now

Works fine, although I doubt it will for the next game as some spastic on thisis posted the link on there, what a twat

 :wanker:

Me or the spastic?

What I mean't is, it's much more likely that the link will be spotted on there by the powers that be, and they'll change the link, meaning it will cease to work in the future. Making sense so far?

Not having a pop at you, it's been posted on the TEF a few times before, I'd just rather PM people with it that request it.

Woooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo JC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get in :D

Spastic, not you! Point taken re PM though. Oh yeah and Yeeeesssssssss get in there you beauty!!!

No offense meant

With reference to what I've quoted, could you all take two minutes of your time to save the link in a word document or something for future use. Spamming it over the net just increases the risk of it being spotted, and then it'll be no use to any of us.

(I've got another link, but it's very unreliable in comparison)

Lots of love

Seems like we have had to drop to 4-5-1 to accomodate O'Hanlon's injury.

Not the best game in the world but a well deserved 3 points. Ace finish from Curo. We should have done better with a few of the other chances.

Nice to see us not 'hanging on'. The players gave it their all which is pleasing to see.  :D

Great match. First half was brilliant, very entertaining...end to end stuff. Without any exaggeration we could/should have had 4 or 5.

Cureton MOTM second home game running. What a finish for the goal! Gurney's pass wasnt too bad either. Brown had a good game, seems to improve every time I see him. Is Migs injured? Why did he go off?

Mads Timm is a cunt...not particularly good player either, considering he is from Man U.

Here's to three points on saturday :beers:

Get in! Not only is it so refreshing to see a Swindon side battle for everything - its refreshing to see a Swindon side play well!

I would say Walsall were poor but I just think we were good, really. Could have been 3 or 4 goals up at half time, the Walsall goalkeeper made a terrific save from Peacock and Cureton missed some golden opportunities. He made up for it with a terrific volley to put us deseverdly 1-0 up. The only real chance Walsall had was a free kick which was well saved by Rhys Evans. 9/11 players I couldn't fault at the end of the half. Migz and Gurney were very poor in the centre of midfield.

Second half we played some good stuff again. We are playing it on the floor a lot more and we're doing it well. The on form Cureton almost got an identical goal but another wonderful save from the Walsall keeper denied him. Walsall hit the bar but did bugger all else, Swindon played competently and showed every sign of a team that not only wants to stay up, but can stay up. A bit nervy at the end but we held on.

Peacock and Cureton = superb. Both of em. Brown and Shakes on either wing cause all sorts of problems and the back 4 are looking solid once more. Not impressed with Walsall bar the goalkeeper. Mad Tim or whatever his name is looked alright on the ball, but constantly gave it away. It was nice to see Grant Smith playing crap aswell!

Well done boys, great result.

Oh, a funny incident. Just a minute after getting booked, Gerrard tried to tackle brown before he'd actually taken the corner! You can't do that mate - and you were lucky not to be sent off.

Bejamin put himself about a bit, but I can see why he is disliked. Ah well, I don't care at the moment.

I wouldn't call it a Nicholas cock up considering he was shoved in the back a few times and it should have been a free kick...

Yup....not a memorable game, but 3 points is what matters.
Great finish from Cureton...but that header that he missed before that was a sitter! He almost had an identical second goal later on.
Brown played well, as did Shakes and Smith......I won't mention Benjamin!

Walsall were pretty crap though, didn't create any real chances apart from that Nicholas cock-up in the 2nd half....when they hit the bar.

I was surprised to see us hanging on at the end and panicking a bit when they had been the dominant side throughout...the last 10 minutes was woeful football.

The hanging on thing will be because O'Hanlon was injured - hence why we changed to 4-5-1 and left Benji a bit isolated to chase the width of the pitch.

Certainly the best I've seen Shakes play.  Cureton should have had more than one, although did very well again.  Big Trev came on won a few corners and held the ball up, exactly what he'd have been asked to do.

While not a classic, I'll settle for three points :D

I thought it was a good performance. The first 10 minutes were a bit nervy but then we took control of the game and I lost count of the amount of good balls into the box.
Cureton played very well and fully deserved his goal and was unlucky not to score an identical one at the other end.
Shakes was brilliant first half. Everything seemed to go down the right flank and he rarely wasted oppertunities. Second half he was much quieter.

Overall a very encouraging display and I think that 3-1 would have told the story much more with the chances both teams wasted and with the excellent keeping

Not very mobile. Twatted the keeper a treat. Will give him time but Curo and Peacock won't be shitting it on this performance (neither will Holgate!)

Ifil. Can't pass but was my MOTM. 'That' tackle, I'd like to think it was perfectly timed (anything else would have been a pen).

Curo - Should have had a hatrick. Will settle for a wonder goal. Looks dangerous. I said he wasn't worth keeping

Peacock - Needs a couple more games before he is at his best IMHO, but looks capable

Cureton and Peacock worked off one another brilliantly and Shakes was awesome. Why did Migs go off? Anyone know? I thought he was having a good game myself.

Me and my mates had to catch the bus after the match, so we had to leg it from the CG at 9.35 (when the game finished) to the bus station and just made it in time for the bus which left at 9.45 :D  twas nackered....

Didn't think it was a great match, not that i'd expect that, but tonight was all about the result. A very much needed 3 points in the bag.

Was very impressed with Ifil (MOTM), thought we looked dangerous at times on the wings with Brown and Shakes, particularly Brown.

Cureton and 'Cock haven't quite got the understanding there yet, which i wouldn't expect after 2 games, but they both look confident atm, bodes well for the rest of the season.

Was surprisingly impressed with Tricky Trev when he came off the bench. Got in amongst 'em, won us a few corners and generally looked like the battering ram we all expected. A good impact player.

Need to follow it up with a good win on Saturday, if we can, things will be looking a whole lot rosier than last week

I was very pleased with the result,we are getting to the stage where almost every home game is one we have to win so i don't care how we do it.We deserved the win but as usual we had to make it harder by only being one nil up when it should have been a lot more comfortable,i still can't believe Cureton missed that sitter in the first half.
But hey, we won so who cares :D

Sade, next time you see Heywood point him out to the Stewards so they can chuck the scummer out.

It was great joining in with the chants of "WE WANT MERSON OUT!" at the end.

That was superb, when they interviewed Iffy on the radio, guy interviewing said to him "Drinks on you tonight then Iffy" and then quickly said "Oh, I mean coffee".

Great result last night and we could have scored more goals. Browns shot in the second half was mighty close and I thought curo was going to get a toe to it.

Peacock is not as good as fallon in the air but his movement and understanding with Curo is much better.

I can't wait for Saturday now :D

Excellent match ... super goal .. delighted to see Curo getting some goals now .. thought he and Peacock linked well .. Peacock was class

Loved Benji .... entertainment value as well as good presence

Brown is improving too as he gains fitness and I think Paul Smith looks class in the middle .. should get more games

I enjoyed it .. we won :)

:D  At half time when he was walking down the steps, it went a bit quiet and people were giving him funny looks. Then some bloke shouted 'WANKEEEERRRR' really loudly. I felt a bit sorry for him, but I guess he has to expect it. Other than that I think he was able to watch the game in peace!

Below is a Walsall fans view on the game:

"Just back from the game. Jesus, it was desperate. As bad as Bristol City? Yes, it probably was. Swindon were like a pub team. In fact, they would have struggled to beat a half-decent pub team. We were considerably worse.

We were just hopeless. Our one and only tactic was to lump the ball forward to the mighty height of Kevin James. We showed earlier in the month that the new midfield can actually play a bit - but we made no attempt to use Leary or Smith. Every time any of our back four (or five, including Oakes) got the ball they just hoofed it as far as they could. It was truly, truly pitiful.

I can't sum it up any better than by talking about Paul Smith. When he played for us, as soon as the ball went anywhere near him you could guarantee one of the opposition players would race in there and get to it before he did, leaving him with no time at all. Today he had all the time in the world. Even with five minutes to go and us being a goal down, he was allowed to just stroll around the middle picking out his passing.

On the bright side, at least Lee Peacock was dire, probably rivalling any of our players to the accolade of being the worst player on the pitch. The best was, without question, Cureton, who scored one, missed two open goals, and saw two excellent shots saved by Oakes.

The second half saw a few pathetic "Merson, Merson sort it out" chants before a brief "We want Merson out" which was greeted with derision by many of our fans. I actually heard someone say on the way out "I don't know why Merson puts up with the abuse he gets". Deluded idiot.

I've rarely felt so depressed to be a Walsall fan. There were EIGHT changes since the game at Bristol City but the performance was the same. What's the common factor? Merson. There is literally nobody who I wouldn't take as manager over Merson. Give me Tony Pulis, Tony Blair, Tony Butler, ANYONE. Just get Merson out NOW before he gets us relegated. I just hope it isn't already too late."

Did this person even watch the same game????    We played like a pub team!?!?!?! Peacock was dire? WTF!!!!
This person has some serious issues!! Then again, his username is 'Bristol Fan'

I found this on the following message board/topic, if you want to go and put the Walsall fans straight: http://www.upthesaddlers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=5982

To be honest though, the majority of their fans did say that we didnt play like a team who is in the bottom four....

whilst we were poor last night i do think we were beaten by a well organised, physical swindon side who showed the bottle we clearly didn't have.

Madds Timm was very poor as was Grant Smith who constantly gave the ball away. we were hoofing the ball to strikers who did could do nothing with it and it was so frustrating to watch. wtf was gerrard doing trying to tackle the corner taker before it had even been taken?

I really think we missed out on Peacock. He didn't look match fit but he battled for everything and made some neat moves. Cureton was a different class Sad his goal was sublime. Could have easily had a hat trick tbh, Oakes made some decent stops but was flapping around way too much.

Swindon were poor in the centre of midfield and we really should have capitalised. i was impressed with their 2 wingers.

i can only see a relegation fight for us, and with other sides picking up points it's gonna be difficult. I wouldn't be surprised if Swindon stayed up, they have some quality. Luckily for me I live in Cheltenham so it wasn't that far a trip back.

MERSON OUT! I'm tired of watching this rubbish.

That walsall fan seems a bit nicer to us.

Just a few things ive picked out of the posts on the upthesunderland forum:-

*whilst we were poor last night i do think we were beaten by a well organised, physical swindon side who showed the bottle we clearly didn't have.

*The biggest positive for me was the wonderful Rockin' Robin dance before the game, greeted with stoney silence from all around the ground.

*we played awful and were lucky to only lose 1-0.

Cureton could and should have had a hat-trick last night, Oakes made a fantastic save to deny Peacock and Cureton, they twice saw shots miss the far post by inches.

*The few chants of Merson Out and Merson sort it out were pathetic, so bad that even Swindon fans joined in to help

*Swindon were like a pub team. In fact, they would have struggled to beat a half-decent pub team.

But you won't hear us hoofing it no more though. Especially to Fallon    We played it to feet fairly well on Tuesday night and any high balls e.g. crosses, goal kicks etc, were won by us.

ages ago it used to be a kiddy called James Street (iirc), when he was a year 11 at kingsdown, they were having a kick-about with a bunch of year 7's, he went in for a 2-footed lunge at a little kid and broke this kiddy's leg, and he got sacked.
