I would say Walsall were poor but I just think we were good, really. Could have been 3 or 4 goals up at half time, the Walsall goalkeeper made a terrific save from Peacock and Cureton missed some golden opportunities. He made up for it with a terrific volley to put us deseverdly 1-0 up. The only real chance Walsall had was a free kick which was well saved by Rhys Evans. 9/11 players I couldn't fault at the end of the half. Migz and Gurney were very poor in the centre of midfield. Second half we played some good stuff again. We are playing it on the floor a lot more and we're doing it well. The on form Cureton almost got an identical goal but another wonderful save from the Walsall keeper denied him. Walsall hit the bar but did bugger all else, Swindon played competently and showed every sign of a team that not only wants to stay up, but can stay up. A bit nervy at the end but we held on. Peacock and Cureton = superb. Both of em. Brown and Shakes on either wing cause all sorts of problems and the back 4 are looking solid once more. Not impressed with Walsall bar the goalkeeper. Mad Tim or whatever his name is looked alright on the ball, but constantly gave it away. It was nice to see Grant Smith playing crap aswell! Well done boys, great result. Oh, a funny incident. Just a minute after getting booked, Gerrard tried to tackle brown before he'd actually taken the corner! You can't do that mate - and you were lucky not to be sent off. Bejamin put himself about a bit, but I can see why he is disliked. Ah well, I don't care at the moment. Was very impressed with Ifil (MOTM), thought we looked dangerous at times on the wings with Brown and Shakes, particularly Brown. Cureton and 'Cock haven't quite got the understanding there yet, which i wouldn't expect after 2 games, but they both look confident atm, bodes well for the rest of the season. Was surprisingly impressed with Tricky Trev when he came off the bench. Got in amongst 'em, won us a few corners and generally looked like the battering ram we all expected. A good impact player. Peacock is not as good as fallon in the air but his movement and understanding with Curo is much better. "Just back from the game. Jesus, it was desperate. As bad as Bristol City? Yes, it probably was. Swindon were like a pub team. In fact, they would have struggled to beat a half-decent pub team. We were considerably worse. We were just hopeless. Our one and only tactic was to lump the ball forward to the mighty height of Kevin James. We showed earlier in the month that the new midfield can actually play a bit - but we made no attempt to use Leary or Smith. Every time any of our back four (or five, including Oakes) got the ball they just hoofed it as far as they could. It was truly, truly pitiful. I can't sum it up any better than by talking about Paul Smith. When he played for us, as soon as the ball went anywhere near him you could guarantee one of the opposition players would race in there and get to it before he did, leaving him with no time at all. Today he had all the time in the world. Even with five minutes to go and us being a goal down, he was allowed to just stroll around the middle picking out his passing. On the bright side, at least Lee Peacock was dire, probably rivalling any of our players to the accolade of being the worst player on the pitch. The best was, without question, Cureton, who scored one, missed two open goals, and saw two excellent shots saved by Oakes. The second half saw a few pathetic "Merson, Merson sort it out" chants before a brief "We want Merson out" which was greeted with derision by many of our fans. I actually heard someone say on the way out "I don't know why Merson puts up with the abuse he gets". Deluded idiot. I've rarely felt so depressed to be a Walsall fan. There were EIGHT changes since the game at Bristol City but the performance was the same. What's the common factor? Merson. There is literally nobody who I wouldn't take as manager over Merson. Give me Tony Pulis, Tony Blair, Tony Butler, ANYONE. Just get Merson out NOW before he gets us relegated. I just hope it isn't already too late."
