Just received a text through saying that Iffy has signed him from Peterborough, I cant say Ive heard of him.
Does anybody else know anything about him?

He's old and slow and generally not what we need.

The only positive spin is he's "experienced"

i remember him as a bit pacey actually. he's 26 i think. stats look average. he's been flogged out on loan 8 times. 6 foot 2 though, should be useful in the air. i'm not jumping for joy though.

Signed by leicester for over a million a few seasons ago, after a season or two was shipped out on loan, but never really seems to hit it off anywhere. Four different clubs last year, about 20 starts and less than 5 goals. Less than inspiring, to say the least.

But as Dave says, he is experienced...

So he can't get in League 2 Peterborough's side but is somehow gonna play in a higher division and save us from the drop?! Brilliant!

One thing is for certain, Iffy has a plan and he's sticking to it.

Power and pace. Nothing pretty, entertaining, or clever. Could it save us? Who knows.

I asked if he had any positive attributes on londonroad.net

Quote from: "posh"

1. Errr, no.
2. He made me laugh!
3. He makes a lovely cup of tea
4. he will be back in a months time, they will pay FRY to take  him back!!!
5. He can hold the ball up near a corner flag. Some people give him a 9 for that against Northampton for that

Oh well. Will reserve judgement until we have seen him a few times.

True. Scrub 'entertaining' then. Replace with skillful.

hmmmmmm.

Not too sure about this one as the tradidional view is that big trev is a skilless donkey who carries about as much goalthreat as the aforementioned donkey.

However from memory, he is stronger than fallon, and quicker. Neither of them have any skill. Trev's goal record would suggest that Rory's finishing is better.

I'll give him a chance. He could help our hoofball tactics, or could just end up looking like a lower league Heskey.

Sorry but if this is true then its a shocking signing!.

When listening to Talksport in the evening the host Adrian Durham is a Peterborough fan and on one show he spent the entire time saying how bad he is.  :?  he sad he was lazy and he had no finishing skills whatsoever.

Trev's goal record would suggest that Rory's finishing is better.

Fallon Goals/Game ratio = 0.22
Benjamin Goals/Game ratio = 0.21

I thought maybe substitute appearances would affect those ratios but apparently not. They appear to be very very similar statistically

Rory Fallon:40% of all appearances as a substitute
Benhamin: 38.5%

Any way, I think people are reacting to this in the correct way. Let's totally write him off before he has kicked a ball. In fact, let's roundly boo him tomorrow before the Walsall game. Let's run him out of town, we don't want him!!!

Who remembers the 'Rory Falldown' and 'Bambi on ice' comments from the Barnsley fans when we signed Fallon? He didn't do too badly did he?

And as for the "are league 2 rejects all we can get now?" response, well who the fuck else are we going to get?

Am I the only one who think it's an alright signing?  We've probably got him dirt cheap and it's another body up front.  If he's parp he'll be a backup anyway.  We've got a rejuvenated Cureton and impressive-looking Peacock up front, with Benjamin to come in and fight for a place alongside the keen Holgate.

For starters werent Northampton in Divison 2 at the time with us but ended up getting relegated.

Parkin only got 4 goals in 40 games but you failed to mention the fact he was stuck out on the left wing for most of the season.

We signed him from Chelsea....that makes him a Chelsea rejects not a League 2 rejects

Also failed to mention his other loan spells where he did score goals for Oldham and Millwall

On the Jenks note.

He also wasnt a league two reject, because we signed him when the posh were in league one and he was starting games, he started and scored against us weeks before we signed him

However, he is now looking his age and he needs to be used sparingly

ok im gonna reserve judgement until i have seen him play but some of the quotes from other boards dont look good!
From Posh Fans:
"you will be missed........like the net for most of the season!"

"YES!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!!, SEE YA YOU USELESS BAG OF ****!!!!!BEST NEWS I HAVE HEARD ALL DAY!!"

"Trevor Benjamin is the only man to shamefully admit to making Ade Akinbyi look a prolific striker!"

"looked slow, lumbersome and can be summed up by being compared to an articulated lorry in terms of turning circle!"

I don't know whether everyone else on here is suffering from some strange form of collective amnesia, or if I've just been hallucinating all my visits to this site for the last week or so, but I can distinctly remember the threads surrounding the Fallon sale concluding that Peacock was probably the only replacement we'd get.

And a good percentage of you weren't unhappy with that.

Now we've signed some competition for him and suddenly it's a fucking disaster.

How did that happen?

I know MD might have got everybodies hopes up by saying there'd be some money available, but what did you think we'd get Ronaldo?

Incidently as far as listening to other fams is concerned, I didn't read or hear a good word about:

Fallon
Allison
Maskell
Mitchell

and a whole string of others before they got here.

He makes some good points....

Wayne Allison was ace. We would be in the premiership if he was still here

 Don't be harsh....Tails is OK

FWIW a couple of days before deadline, when you're  deep in the dou dou is not the best time to be recruiting top players,  even if you've a sack of cash (Pompey anyone)

Benjamin is a reasonable cheap punt....not much to lose really.

It's not actually my first post.

But a new home PC and ISP, a work laptop that remembers my old username and password, and a piss poor memory has kind of meant I had to register again.

I haven't changed the username much, so it's not like I'm doing some wierd MHWG double identity thing.

Centre forward type to bring on for the last 20 mins to cause chaos in the 18 yards box whilst Curo andd the cock pick up the loose balls.

he's different to what we have at the moment. better than holgate/any kid u want to mention.

can't see it as a bad move, we clearly don't want to play with our midfielders anyway so wimbledon here we come

Brilliant signing, well done Iffy, sign him on permantly before he does a Darius Henderson..

We are in a survival battle, if it means bringing on a battering ram so be it.

Just watch him get fit, and rattle in ten goals.
