I've heard we've accepted a bid on Fallon from Swansea, all I know but seems to be true?

Is that why he left the pitch last today. Giving us his fare well.

I listened to the game on the radio today, and Mark Devlin was co commentator.  He said how the Fallon issue was complicated, and that there were 2 bids for him during the week.  I believe Town have offered Fallon a contract, but Fallon wants to assess the situation at the end of the season.  Devlin said he was happy that Fallon was staying till the end of the season  'but by the tone of his voice, you could tell he was pissed off '

I'm thinking Town will more then likely offload the fella now, and get the cash whilst they can

I doubt they would of interviewed him if they knew he was going. He sounded keen to just get on with the rest of the season. Whether he does or not, we shall soon see.

If true, I would have had Fallon on the bench today, we need to get used to him not in the starting XI.

If he's off to Swansea then they must be selling Trundle... I can only see Fallon on the bench up there if Trundle stays.

A complicated situation, and we are all clutching at straws to explain his decisions really.
Nobody really knows what is happening bar the clubs involved.

Fallon staying seems less likely everyday and at the moment I will just accept whatever the board decide, especially if Curo and Peacock carry on like today

Surely the answer to all this contract business, is to get Fallon to sign a one year contract extension, but with a relegation release clause?

Why do we have to waste so much hard won possession?

Before he scored, Fallon yesterday was a shambles. Couldn't time a jump for a header or couldn't hold the simplest ball up or fell over or gave away a foul. Same result - we gave the ball away.

At the back, Ifil wasted 80% of all the ball he got with aimless passes out of play or straight to bomuff or 30 metres from the nearest Swindon player.

Peacock will replace Fallon soon.

Who will replace Ifil?

Did you ?

Fuck that it was crap!

Everything was hoofed straight up to the right of the oppositions area.To be fair to him when he did that he didnt really have the option to pass it to a midfielder or time to go back and I suspect its something that hes been told to do by Iffy.

Apart from that though he was solid.

Also Fallon brought loads of balls down on his chest or flicked them on.I really dont understand this Fallon bashing bollocks. He was the first player with the ball 80 percent of the time when attacking, the fact that he was fouled alot can hardly be down to him can it!

I'd pretty much agree with that, although Fallon looked knackered by the end so maybe that was why he wasn't running around everywhere. I thought he did ok - him and Cureton seemed to have a bit more understanding as well.

I agree.   :--

300k in the bank could nail down a lot of talent and if he's not happy with what's on the table now it's unlikely he’ll be happy with what we can come up with the summer when he’s in a far stronger position.

Fairly snuff about seeing if we get relegated or not but I’m sure we could sort him a clause out on that front.

Swindon Town - Striker set for exit?
25 Jan 2006 10:57

Swansea are set to sign Swindon striker Rory Fallon for £300,000.

Swindon had rejected City's bid for Fallon last week but after signing striker Lee Peacock from Sheffield Wednesday they seem happy to let the 23-year-old Kiwi complete the switch.

Boss Kenny Jackett highlighted the need for more physical presence up front as his top priority at the start of the year and at 6ft 2in Fallon fits the bill.

He will be Swansea's fifth signing of the current transfer window.

And on Vital football

http://www.swindon.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7768

Swansea Evening Post is reporting that Striker Rory Fallon is talking to Swansea City today and the transfer to Swansea City may be a done deal as early as today.

As we reported yesterday, Swindon Town have accepted the £300,000 fee for the 23 year old New Zealander. Fallon was in Swansea yesterday, at the Liberty Stadium to complete the relevent paper work to complete the transfer.

With Fallon moving to Swansea, Swindon will have strikers Lee Peacock and Jamie Cureton available for Friday's match at Southend. Youngster Ashan Holgate is likely to be on the bench.

WE WILL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE ON ALL NEWS RELATING TO THIS BREAKING STORY

I understand that Rory has made it clear that he will not be signing a contract with us.  Originally he wasn't up for a move to Swansea and was going to see out the season, however I'm guessing that Swansea have upped the money and possibly hinted that Trundle might be off (who has not signed his contract either).  he would be more likely to get a game then.

It's a fair enough deal in my eyes.  He may have begun to put less effort in (you can never predict though), we would have got nothing for him etc.  Don't blame the guy though, it's a good opportunity for him (look where he was last season) and probably a nice juicy wage packet to go with it, not to mention a singing on fee.

I do want us to go and get another striker now though.  Cureton and Peacock could do the business, but I'd like competition and cover for places.

Title: Word on the street
Post by: Batch on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, 13:27:52
I agree it is a massive blow, hope Peacock can do the business from the off or we are buggered.

But the more I think about it the fact is beggers can't be choosers. When is the lump sum CVA payment due? The cash from Fallon may be enough to keep the club going regardless of relegation.

We do need cover for him should he leave though.

I have no problem with this deal whatsoever.

£300k now or nothing in 4 months time?

It's a no brainer.

The club obviously brought Peacock in knowing that Rory would be off some time soon and fair play to them for doing so.

I do agree though that we need cover in that department now.  An old war horse type until the end of the season along the lines of Paul Smith (but a striker of course) would be ideal.  I don't know if there are any of those floating around at the moment though.

I cannot see how anyone living in the real world can have a problem with what the club have done.

300,000 now or relegation is the way I see it.

Peacock was good for 15 minutes Saturday on his debut,he could be utter wank from now on and Cureton  has 1 goal in how many starts?

For me the no brainer is keeping him.

I don't see why we can't stay up any way and this way the CVA has had a 300k chunk taken out of it.

Currently Fallons goals are the only thing keeping us in the fight.

Surely the Sam Parkin money will go towards the CVA...not that we know how much that is....

But we have since signed Peacock and Curo has turned into a goal machine so don't worry your pretty little head. We will stay up.

Peacock hasn't been here long enough to prove hes a regular goalscorer however I feel very confident with him and Curo tbh. They have slightly more pace than fallon anyway and Curo has more skill in the way he took his goal saturday.

If Fallon goes he goes staying up is not impossible without him,

At the end of the day it's totally out of our control so you might as well look on the positive side as walk around like a manic depressive - The end result will still be the bleedin' same!

there's good points amd bad points to the deal

atleast it's not as heart breaking as janaage or even parkin

Parkin was inevitable but Fjortoft  was diabolical.  The worst deals we ever did (imo) were:

Shearer to Blackburn
Kerslake to Leeds
Fjortoft to 'Boro

To those I would add;
Stan Harland to Birmingham-Just cos fucking Dave Mackay wanted to play!
Peter Thorne to Stoke £300,000-we turned down a million a few months before!

i wouldn't be too upset if he does go, £300k is a bloody good price for him and i personally won't miss him too much...

Peacock has only played 15 minutes...

Cureton has scored one goal, hardly qualifies as a goal machine....

Looks like its official

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/4622088.stm

Swansea City have agreed a price of £300,000 with League One rivals Swindon Town for striker Rory Fallon.
The 23-year-old, 6ft 2in Kiwi will sign a two-and-a-half-year deal subject to a medical on Wednesday.

The targetman baulked on a Swans move earlier this season, but now joins Lee Trundle, Leon Knight, Adebayo Akinfenwa and Paul Connor on their striking rota.

The move will fuel speculation on Trundle's future, with Portsmouth watching the star striker on Tuesday.

Trundle is reportedly close to agreeing a new contract at the Liberty Stadium, but he has yet to sign and rumours of Premiership interest are legion.
