Title: Ratings From Today
Post by: walrus on Saturday, January 21, 2006, 18:51:23
Supob, much better lads!

Evans 7 - good kicking, didn't have a hope with either goal, solid performance, didn't get a chance to shine

Jenkins 5 - not his best, kept moving into centre back while Jerel went right back which I didn't like, and gave the ball away a few times

Nicolas 4 - he was poor today, not one decent delivery, ineffectual going forward

Ifil 8 - excellent, he has improved tenfold under Iffy

CCP 7 - decent, was fairly solid

Shakes 9 - very good - quick, decent deliveries

Brown 7 - decent, good running with the ball

Gurney 8 - superb, I just love him, really gets stuck in, gets the team going, leads by example, should be captain

Miglioranzi 7 - good goal, was solid, nice touches

Cureton 10 - superb.  'nuff said.

Fallon 5 - fucking donkey.  Good goal though!  Was lazy, didn't look up for it at all until we scored   :D

Subs:

Jarrett 7 - looks a good signing

Peacock 11 - God I'm excited by this guy, both emotionally and physically

Paul Smith 5 - anonymous really...

Sounded on t'internet as if Nicholas was overlapping very well. Didn't he provide a cross for one of the goals ?

Yes he did.  The play looked doomed when the pass to him was too hard but Nicho kept running for it and got a good cross in to Fallon who scored.
Wasnt as bad as a 4 would suggest.

No way, my ratings are factual, not to be messed with.

Nicholas pissed me off today as he's been playing well of late, so I was disappointed to see him lack the quality in his crosses.  I was very unimpressed with our fullbacks today, and Fallon was a lazy arsed-faced weasel.  FACT!

(I am being a little harsh, but when they're playing alongside the master that is Peacock it's hard not to be critical).   :D

Ifil was brilliant. He seems more fluent and air line now his ball of fluff has gone.

Title: Ratings From Today
Post by: DiV on Saturday, January 21, 2006, 19:08:53
Evans - 6 - Really didnt have a save to make, no chance we either goals

Jenkins - 5 - At fault for the firsy goal, shouldnt have let it happen

Ifil - 7 - Solid, won everything in the air

CCP - 6 - Generally solid

Nicholas - 6 - Not his best game, did alright nearly fucked up at the end when he played it back into our box

Shakes - 6 - Im convinced he is actually left footed, crosses better with it. Loved his long run into the box then he stopped and had no idea what to do

Miglioranzi - 6 - Got around, nice to see him score a goal. Lost his way in the 2nd half a bit

Gurney - 7 - Worked bloody hard, was everywhere getting stuck in. Why didnt he play like this last time he was here, probably our man of the match

Brown - 6 - No lack of effort, did the ugly stuff

Fallon - 5 - Good goal, not up to much though

Cureton - 7 - Good goal, well taken worked hard and looked dangerous with the ball at his feet

jenks was dodgy, shakes did one good thing in the whole game and brown wasn't effective, fallon was lethargic but the rest were all decent.
though they all did their bit i suppose.

Give Jenks credit. If he didn't chase that ball down for that super cross for Fallon, we may be talking about a draw or defeat.

we got away with that as the ball was out of play. was a good delivery, and he aint to be blamed for moving to the middle for a while as he was told to,but he went missing for the first goal, and was looking his age on a couple of occasions

fallon wasn't good at all today. shakes when running with the bal doesn't let the ball get out from his feet enough to run. big problem.

Evans, 6 didn't have much to do but dealt with most things easily, nearly saved the pen.

Jenks, 8 very good performance and deserves to stay in the side.

Ifil, 6 didn't have much to do and kept Hayter quiet, not many hoofs from him today either

CCP, 6 like Ifil didn't have much to do but looked solid.

Nicholas, 6 getting better with every game, looks good going forward and is also good at defending.

Shakes, 7 he was one of our most lively players today but his end product is very bad, is a handfull for defences and his pace causes trouble.

Gurney, 7 looked solid and good on the ball, had a few nice shots and is getting better with every game.

Miglioranzi, 7 like Gurns he was very good on the ball and did well as captain. A great finish for his goal and if he stays fit he will be a key player.

Brown, 6 not involved much but put in some great crosses.

Fallon, 6 imo he did nothing but he scored a good goal. Should sign a new deal or be sold.

Cureton, 8 a very good game by him and he loooked very lively, it was great to see him score and with quality service he could score lots more.

Subs:

Brighton guy, 7 didn't have much time but I think he played very well, he has lots of pace and reminds me of Holmes.

Peacock, 7 he put in a load of effort and looks very strong, glad to see him score and I would like to see him play with Curo.

Smith, 6 didn't have much time but had a decent shot.

fuck me don't get too excited mate

Evans Don't recall him having a save to make, but he did concede twice. His kicking was above average for a change. 7
Jenkins Solid defensively, did well to keep the ball in play for the third goal. 6
Comyn-Platt Quality. Positional awareness spot on and no nonesense defending yet distributed the ball well when neccesary. 8
Ifil Solid and composed, distribution much improved though still somewhat aimless. Definitely looks more streamline with the corn rows. 7
Nicholas Defended well and overlapped with Brown to decent effect without being spectacular. 7
Shakes Bless him, his legs are too fast for his brain still. Bloody nice cross with his left peg though. Give him a 7 just because he worked so hard for 90 minutes flat.7
Gurney Clearly giving him a permanent deal hasn't had a negative effect on him as he was all over the park today, excellent. 7
Miglioranzi Took his goal well and used the ball well, got stuck in a bit as well. 7
Brown Cunt got me kicked out last week, but I'll let him off. Some decent crosses but not terribly impressive. 6
Fallon FUCKING WANKER. The only time he managed to stay on his feet when the ball came near him, he scored. I'll give him a 5 but only because he scored. Useless donkey. 5
Cureton Excellent, beautiful turn and shot for his goal and showed some clever touches and intelligent movement off the ball. Very impressive. 8

Jarrett Shitloads of pace and can deliver a decent cross, unfortunately he's a left-winger. 7
Smith Don't recall him having much of an impact on the game in all honesty. n/a
Peacock I love him already. He was well up for it and put himself about and did well to get a debut goal. He's going to score 19 goals in the 18 remaining games, FACT! 7

Evans 7 Nowt to do. Had no chance on goals

Jenks 6 Moved forward a few times but wasnt brilliant at doing it and got caught in the centre back role a few times not covering the winger.

Ifil 7 Solid as always.

CCP 7 Consistently above average every game he plays

Nicho 6 Setup Fallon, moved forward a bit, average.

Shakes 7 Should look up more, but looked lively

Gurney 8 Not the same man we once had.  Ive only liked him since the Swansea game  :)

Migz 6 good, not much to say

Brown 6 Couple of good crosses.

(Jarrot 7 Looked quicker and moved into more spaces than Brown, permanant deal me thinks.)

Fallon 6 Poo for him really.

Curo 8 Lively, good runs, wasnt brilliant working with Fallon but it will come MOTM

(Peacock 8 Much the same as Curo but worked better with Fallon and came back a little more.  Would've got MOTM if started IMO.)

sorry but those who slate Fallon need fuckin shooting.
Fallon has been fucking imense for us this season.

He stuck with it when he wasn't getting picked and has come on well this season.

He has said he doesn't want to move and will sort out his contract at the end of the season. If we get relegated you can't say he never tried and if/when he moves then i'll give him a good send off.
He is better than Div 4 football and so diserves to be playing at a higher standard so if we get relegated and he leaves then so what. He hasn't lied to us or tried to string us along like Smith/Mooney did.

i know football is a fickle sport but ffs people get a fucking grip

fallon was so poor that he couldn't manage to stay on his feet when the ball was anywhere near him. it was like watching a giraffe trying to come to terms with being on an ice rink, except ten times worse and a hundred times more embarrasing.

alright, he scores goals, i'll admit that but i'm not sure i can tolerate his non-chalant, lazy, apathetic performances for the rest of the season - especially if there's £300,000 up for grabs.

i don't buy this "he's waiting" bollocks either, his attitude on the pitch has changed hugely since transfer rumours have been banded about in the press and bids have been made.

however you're right, we'd be truly fucked without his goals so far but if curo can reproduce some of the form he showed at colchester and peacock chips in with some goals as well, i'd rather say thanks and goodbye to the lanky streak of piss.

right, now where's me stress ball?

this is obvious as to why he is off the pace at the moment.
part of him wants to stay and help us fight relegation and the other wants to play at a higher lever.

he is torn between the two and therfore has said i want to stay but wont sign a new contract yet incase we are relegated.
which to me is honest and doing his best for STFC.

I've always stuck by Fallon since his signing and think he's been a good servant to the club, up until now.  His aerial ability is unquestionable, and it's fantastic to see him chesting a ball down to the midfield while the ball is still above the head of the defender.  However, his partnership with Cureton doesn't seem too effective, mainly due to Cureton's inability to read Fallon's flick-ons/Fallon's inability to flick the ball onto Cureton's runs.  When Peacock came on, instantly he was onto one of Fallon's flicks and there was danger.

However, other than in the air, Fallon did nothing today.  Whereas early in the season he harried, hassled and was a real pain for defenders for the full 90 minutes, today he only vaguely showed interest when the ball was up in the air.  Off-the-ball he seemed lazy and disinterested.  How many times did the crowd moan today for the strikers, especially Fallon, to close down Bournemouth defenders who had far too much time?

His goals have been an asset, he's a decent player and a real threat in the air, but I don't think his heart is here anymore.  I also think judging from 20 minutes of Peacock (not exactly a good measure I know) he seems more than capable aerially, quick, and capable of goal-scoring - we'll ignore the glaring miss....

I for one am not fussed what happens with Fallon.  If he stays, we've got three very good strikers competing for a place, with another due back (Roberts) and a promising youth player ready to challenge next season in the unlikely scenario that all four are still here next season (Caton).  The money we would receive would be nice, but then there's the eternal debate of whether Iffy would see any of the money, as undoubtedly a replacement in some form would be necessary.

Good player, yes.  Saviour?  No.

i can't help but look at it differently, it seems to me as if he's keeping his options open. if he signs a contract now, it means he won't leave during the transfer window but also means he can't move in the summer whatever happens. however, if he doesn't sign a contract now, clubs won't be put off making bids for him before the window shuts and if nobody comes in for him, he can walk at the end of the season without a problem, regardless of what division we're in.

personally i'm not keen on having players in the team who aren't committed, but then again neither of us can truly know what's going on under that greasy mop of his.

p.s. on another note, no fucker can partner him up front which gets right on my tits because i like 4-4-2.

YES £300'000 would be excellent but we shouldn't be trying to force him to leave.

for me if he does nothing all game but then with 10mins to go pops up to score and make it 3.2 then he has done his job for me.

Especially at our level.

At the moment Fallon is an STFC player and therefore we should all stick with him.

Agree 100%.The way King fucked Fallon about last season was a disgrace but he rolled up his sleeves and got on with it-NEVER letting us down when he got a chance(Stockport,Wed etc).So he wants to see if we stay up-I dont blame him,a lot of players would have given up on Town last season under those circumstances.Lets face it if we do stay up it'll be down to him as much,if not more than anyone.I will continue to cheer him from the rafters and I will be turning up at Southend in my droves to do so!

I think people are far too harsh on Fallon.

You would have to be a brilliant player to score 14 by January without trying. Okay he has been off the boil recently, but every player has a patch of bad form. Who knows, maybe Iffy will have a chat with him this week and next match he could come out looking to block every clearnace and charge players down.
Did he not block a clearance from the keeper yesterday?

CCP- what a fucking powerhouse, real body on the line display, went missing for goal 1 though- 7

Ifil- tremendous I thought- 8

Jenkins- worked very, very hard and did alot of dirty work, fed Shakesy well- 7

Brown- quiet game but a much more solid display after the Gills debacle- 6

Migs- make him captain full stop, battled on through pain for the last part- 8

Gurney- this guy is a fucking psycho, who needs Smith?- 7

Shakes- everyone continues to slag him off, he's young, full of pace and running, direct, and got plenty of balls in- 9

Curo- thank fuck, took it brilliantly, couldn't believe Iffy took him off but well... 8

Fallon- fuck all until his goal which was very well taken- 6

Subs

Peacock- changed the game and scored- 8

Others, can't remember, Smith was tidy
