im a left handed medium pace bowler/ 11th man right handed batsman. i am probably the worst batsmen you have ever seen!

I don't play for anyone. I played for Calne a couple of times.
I am a fast left hand bowler and a right handed batsmen. I can defend all right, but my strokes need a littie improvement.

I played when Pete Jenkins was short of players. You must know Darren Holcombe then?

I turned out for a handful of games in the summer in the Wiltshire league,  can still purvey a mixture of swing and seam.......and can still bat a bit.

Unfortunately the fielding is a bit of a problem as I was never the best in the outfield, but sharp reflexes made up for that, now though they've become a bit dulled and its hugely frustrating, when catches you once would have taken crack you on the wrist.

Still I dare say I'll turn out again if there's a need this summer.

I used to play for Sevenhampton.  Number 4 batsmen here, scored my fair share of runs.

I play for Winterthur - national league winners in 2000 and 2002 - but then there are only 16 teams in Switzerland, so it's not such an achievement. Used to play for Chalford in the Stroud League.

I bowl medium pace and am a confirmed number 11 as I have never scored more than 32 with the bat.

What do the locals make of it when they stumble across a cricket match?

I played for my mates team last year took two wickets with my slow medium pace, think the batsman got a little too over confident.  Also took a catch Jonty Rhodes would have been proud of.  But having said all that I then got a duck and am officially the shittest cricketer I have never seen.

Calne boys, you know Frank Key, Calne opener?  How about Paul Merritt he used to play for Calne.  The Dawson kiddies??

Generally they will stop and watch for about 5 minutes before deciding that they haven't a clue what is going on. I think one of the most confusing things for them is that both teams are wearing the same colour so they don't know who is trying to beat who. Of course explaining to my colleagues at work that a real game lasts 5 days always gets a laugh too.

Surprisingly we do have a few Swiss in the club, but most of them picked up the game while in the UK or Australia etc.

When I was little I used to dream of being a striker and a racing car diver, but the thing I really really wanted to be was a fast bowler and take stumps out of the ground for England. Used to day dream about it at school.

Then I had a go at it for a while and wasnt too bad for my age. No I am embaressingly embaressinly bad. Cant do anything right. Depresses me to hell actually. So I never ever play cricket anymore. Sad eh?

With all this talent.....we could get up a team for a friendly in the summer.

I've a mate who's captaining a Wilts Sunday side next season, they're looking for fixtures.

Sonic could do the scoring and STFCBird the teas.......Yeovil could umpire.

And I could  :beers  all day.

    BTW I am joking

Sounds like you'd be first change in the forum XI, Johno.

What's your fielding like?  I see you swooping round the boundary and arrowing in throws over the stumps. Am I right?

Having come from the backwaters of Glos I rather overestimated my ability and decided to try out for the Uni team in my first year. The trial consisted of half an hour bowling at a young Nasser Hussain off a four-pace run up. I think he played one defensive shot.

Yeah I heard Liam's pretty handy on the cricket field.  Bradley's not that bad either is he, but I heard he's not as interested as Liam.

Frank Key, is known as Fred I think at Calne.  John Merritt's not relating to former Swindon hooli Paul aka Ducky Merritt.

I play for good ole' Goatacre!

Play with Merritt too! Wahey! Game got called off last year cos he kept slippin up on the wicket when he bowled wahey!

I am a right arm "fast" bowler.  Took 2-12 in a school game last year off 4 overs against the league champs!

Shit in bat tho
