Title: Australian Sports

I'm gonna be down under for about six weeks from early march.  I've been browsing the net and it seems there is the chance to see Aussie Rules, League and union Rugby and domestic cricket while I'm there.  I'll be going down the East coast, and will just miss being in Melbourne for the Commonwealth games.

I just wondered if anyone has been out and watched any live sport out there and if venues or sports are especially worth a look?

You doing Sydney? The olympic site is quite good to see an event at, or just to take a tour. The tour includes admission to swim in the Olympic pool.

Went to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairnes on my honeymoon in 2002. Had a great time but didn't see any live sport.

Yeah, Cairns down to Melboune in about 6 weeks.  I fancy some Aussie rules it looks pretty daft.

I have a secret penchant for Aussie Rugby league[the NRL] ,especially the South Sydney Rabbitohs,so if i was going i'd try and catch them  :) .But the games are on the whole good if you like tanned Aussie muscle men in tiny white shorts that is

Might see you around - we're doing Cairns/Brisbane in early March, heading to Melbourne around 1st April, finishing in Sydney mid April.

MCG is an awesome stadium - I'm sure you'll be able to watch an AFL game and a Vics game in the cricket
