Title: Blackpool promotion leaflet drop - Thursday Post by: pauld on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 18:19:27 (Cross posted from Trust site) - Please help if you can spare a couple of hours Thursday evening (edited because I got the day wrong - see embarrassing retraction below). It's in a good cause - promoting the club to the great unwashed Xmas shoppers. Ideally, if you do plan to come, reply to this or PM me on here so we've got an idea how many are likely to be coming. Quote TrustSTFC will this week be helping the club to promote the price promotions on offer for this Saturdays home game against Blackpool at the County Ground. The club have made substantial price reductions for this match with main stand tickets at £15 for Adults, £5 concessions, and £1 under 16s. The Town End Adult tickets are also reduced to £13 for this game. After their recent improvement in results, Saturdays match is of vital importance to both teams, as a win, could lift Swindon above their visitors in the table, and depending on other results, Town could find themselves three places higher come 5:00 on Saturday. To help to ensure the highest possible attendance for this game, TrustSTFC are helping to distribute leaflets promoting the price reductions in the Town centre this Thursday evening (Dec 15th). More volunteers are required to help with this, so if you can possibly help out, we are meeting at 6.45pm in the Savoy (Wetherspoons) on Regent St, with the aim of a swift pint first and leafletting from 7 to about 9. Turns out that "late-night" shopping on Wednesday only goes on until 7, so isn't full-on till 9pm shopping as I was led to believe when we arranged this. So this will now be postponed to Thursday night when the shops are open till 9. Same time, same place to meet (Savoy 6.45).

We had enough for four "teams" accosting innocent shoppers so covered a good area. We seemed to get a pretty good response from the GBP. I had to leave before the end cos I was double-booked with another meeting, so not sure how many leaflets we gave out, but I'll stick my neck out and guess at "a good old chunk".
And for those who wondered, Tails did get his lemonade (I'm a man of my word me) and he and I beat the Chinese guys (who were also trying to leaflet for some fitness place) hands down in the "shoppers accosted" stakes. We had an especially good manoeuvre where he went for them first off and as they swerved to avoid him ran straight into me, and got leafletted good! Bwahahahahahaahah! Only one guy took one and put it straight in the next bin, he then gave me a really evil look. All in all, I think the club's marketing of itself within the community has improved umpty-fold this season and we've been happy to be able to help. Nice to see Mark come on here and acknowledge people's efforts as well.
