New Reality TV show (yes another!!) starts tonight on channel 4. Contestants believe they're actually in Space but they don't even leave the ground. Think it may be quite good but on the other hand do we need another reality show- i'm not a big fan to be honest.

Apparently It got off to a bad start when they all boarded the plane to depart.  The Plane was just circling- obviously not really going anywhere but the blinds popped up three hours later for the contestants only to see the same place around them (white cliffs of dover)as they hadn't gone anywhere -  the program was worried it may give them an inclin to it being a hoax!

According to the paper I read The Metro, it didn't exactly say that Lady.  It said they took off, but on their way in to land the contestant would have seen canary wharf but got distracted by the producers or something.

Upon landing one of the peole said "Bloody hell, it's cold in Russia isn't it"

Well I got that from GMTV this morning as apparently the plane was circling in the same place to give the impression they were further- I guess theres probably many versions floating around - especially as its reality tv.

It was shit.  I'll give it another chance but that's about it.

I quite liked it (Space Cadets), I think because I am the only person in the UK to like Johnny Vaughn.

But there was something wrong with it. Some of it seemed a little too rehursed to be a reality show. Maybe they just shot a few retakes. Maybe they are all actors and we are being hoaxed (why??).

So I have come to the conclusion that either
1) There are a lot of retakes going on hence the hammed up appearance OR
2) There is something going on that we don't know about OR
3) They twigged it early and the producers are bribing them to carry on the pretence in order to save ratings/justify investment.

If it is real (unless the air space is protected) I'm suprised the national media hasn't got an aircraft in an attempt to ruin it. The site must be pretty easy to find!

Its good but I didn't like the one when they sliced that blokes thumbs off, was a bit gruesome for me.  It is interesting though

Just watched it tonight. They seemed to buy the bit about there not going to be any weightlessness even though it defys all the laws of gravity.

Haven't watched it but was wondering how they were gonna explain that. How did they do it?

They said the training for that would take 12 months which they didn't have time for (they are only getting 3 weeks training) so they would only be flying at 124 miles up.

Which would still cause weightlessness but none of them seemed to realise that!

they picked the most gulible people for it, so they could tell all these lies and have none of them realise! i find it quite funny!!

I sat up and watched the live feed on C4 last night as I was in a poker tourney and I cannot believe anyone would think they are in a shuttle looking at that.

I think they've clocked it as well if they got any more casual and relaxed they'd nod-off.

You could also say though that 'extras' are exactly the kind of people that want to be on TV by any means.

Personally I wouldn't be suprised if it was real and the contestants are thick, or if it was fake and they are all in on it. I just don't see what is gained by the latter.

if they really are falling for it they should send them to 'space' and show the earth blowing up out of the window.

I said that to my mrs, the pilots should be taken ill, or go out for a space walk and never come back, then they'd think they were up there all alone.  now that'd make decent tv.

I don't know if this has been raised as i haven't read the whole thread.  But do you think this may be a wind up on the viewers i.e. they don't really think they're in space, and the whole joke is on the public.  It's crossed my mind.  That take off was barely believable, no g-force, just a few vibrations.  Surely they don't believe this, i think they're in on it.

It has been, but I still don't see what is in it for C4. I guess they save money because they don't really have to go to great lengths to make Ipswich look lile Russia.

But some things don't stack up.
- Why didn't they film on location in Russia, assuming they got permission?
- Why do the 'real' cadets act like they are in on it? Can anyone be that stupid or is the power of suggestion that strong?

I think chances are C4 have bitten off more than they can chew.  

The three chaps that are not actors must know especially after that take-off.  It looked tamer than one of those simulators you see at fairs and they all commented on how smooth it was.

Plus the fact that they could not look out into space because of that moth makes must have raised suspicions.  And even I recognised the gimp at the press conference from MTV.

It's either incredibly shite or there's going to be some sort of reality show style charade where one of them goes nuts and eats the others.

Why don't C4 make the pilots go on a fake spacewalk and never return to the shuttle.  Then we'll see if they believe it or not.

I'm going to track down where it's filmed and do a streak acoss space or the next best thing shout 'bollocks' as loud as I possibly can.

I saw the repeat of the final on Saturday, surprise surprise it was shit.  Even the way they told them was shit.  Waste of money for C4, can't believe they fucked it up so badly.

They kind of sussed it befoe the end but wern't 100%. Looked a bit pissed off until they realised they were £25K richer with a ride on the vomit comet to come.

Huuuuge letdown of a program really. It all went wrong when they went into the shuttle for 5 days and did naff all. Zzzzzzzzzzzz

They got them to sit in a "pod", just the three morons, not the actor.  Then  they showed a clip of Jonny Vaughan saying "Hey gang, so you think you're in space...blah blah blah, let's look at some clips to give you some more clues...."  then they opened the pod up.  And that was it.  They each got £25k each, and a trip to the real Star City in Russia where they will go on a zero gravity flight.

What's the fucking point in all of that?

After reading that I'm glad I missed it, sounds a really crap ending.
