Title: Space Cadets Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 13:53:17 New Reality TV show (yes another!!) starts tonight on channel 4. Contestants believe they're actually in Space but they don't even leave the ground. Think it may be quite good but on the other hand do we need another reality show- i'm not a big fan to be honest.

Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 13:56:34 looking forward to this. Should be a laugh.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Luci on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 13:56:58 Apparently It got off to a bad start when they all boarded the plane to depart. The Plane was just circling- obviously not really going anywhere but the blinds popped up three hours later for the contestants only to see the same place around them (white cliffs of dover)as they hadn't gone anywhere - the program was worried it may give them an inclin to it being a hoax!
Title: Space Cadets Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 14:18:43 they MUST already know! FIX!
Title: Space Cadets Post by: land_of_bo on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 14:23:02 Bothered. More shite on the TV to entertain the retards.
BAN ALL REALITY SHOWS! They are the reason we have fat kids, cos their lazy arsed chav mothers are too busy sat on their arses watching this kind of shit instead of cooking a decent meal. Instead they bung some processed shit in the microwave or get chips or a mcshit and wonder why little Jonny is a porky, lazy fucker. Not now son, I'm watching ______ (enter reality shit here). Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 14:26:41 According to the paper I read The Metro, it didn't exactly say that Lady. It said they took off, but on their way in to land the contestant would have seen canary wharf but got distracted by the producers or something.
Upon landing one of the peole said "Bloody hell, it's cold in Russia isn't it" Title: Space Cadets Post by: Luci on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 14:30:26 Well I got that from GMTV this morning as apparently the plane was circling in the same place to give the impression they were further- I guess theres probably many versions floating around - especially as its reality tv.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 14:33:26 GMTV's cool. And I really mean that.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Johno on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 16:21:28 happy to hear that jan. 8)
Title: Space Cadets Post by: yeo on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 16:28:53 I hope they guess after the first 5 minutes of the program that'll make c4 look stupid. :D
Celeb Big Brother soon as well,I should pretend to hate BB but I will end up gripped. Title: Space Cadets Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 20:03:44 It's going to be shite. Funny for about 2 minutes, until you realise that channel 4 will drag out the sole joke of the programme for 10 days.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 21:39:35 what is it? im fed up with the johnny vaughan add but what is the damn programme about?
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, 23:51:28 Its about pretending to send some pillocks into space - when in actual fact they stay here on earth. The 'joke' lasts for 10 days. Hilarious :|
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Sippo on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 08:32:59 Well the first episode was a pile of crap. Hope it gets better.

Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 09:17:34 It was shit. I'll give it another chance but that's about it.

But there was something wrong with it. Some of it seemed a little too rehursed to be a reality show. Maybe they just shot a few retakes. Maybe they are all actors and we are being hoaxed (why??). So I have come to the conclusion that either 1) There are a lot of retakes going on hence the hammed up appearance OR 2) There is something going on that we don't know about OR 3) They twigged it early and the producers are bribing them to carry on the pretence in order to save ratings/justify investment. If it is real (unless the air space is protected) I'm suprised the national media hasn't got an aircraft in an attempt to ruin it. The site must be pretty easy to find! It is interesting though Title: Space Cadets Post by: Sussex on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 12:48:07 Space Cadets was absolute pony
Title: Space Cadets Post by: yeo on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 12:50:44 I just want to see them 'blast off'.
How are they going to fake that and the G forces that would occur? Title: Space Cadets Post by: McLovin on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 12:50:58 I quite liked Space Cadets, that actor Steve was hilariously rubbish at everything.
I also liked that blokes poem on the bus: I saw a pebble on a beach And it reminded me of you Or was it the dog behind Scratching his shit into the cold sand... Ace. Title: Space Cadets Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 13:27:28 That's what I said Bo. Which is why I refused to watch it. Saw a bit of the advert, it looks like a bad tv film. They seemed to buy the bit about there not going to be any weightlessness even though it defys all the laws of gravity.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 22:12:08 Haven't watched it but was wondering how they were gonna explain that. How did they do it?
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Bedford Red on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 22:13:42 Quote from: "flammableBen" Haven't watched it but was wondering how they were gonna explain that. How did they do it? They said the training for that would take 12 months which they didn't have time for (they are only getting 3 weeks training) so they would only be flying at 124 miles up. Which would still cause weightlessness but none of them seemed to realise that! Title: Space Cadets Post by: stfc11 on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 22:16:11 they picked the most gulible people for it, so they could tell all these lies and have none of them realise! i find it quite funny!!

Title: Space Cadets Post by: Sussex on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 22:24:39 Thought it was quite good tonight.
Bunch of dimwits though, fooled by a few upside down letters. Yey, we're in Russia and next stop is space! Erm, no , egg on face situation to follow shortly. Spazzers  Title: Space Cadets Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 22:26:45 Am I the only person that likes Space Cadets?!!!
I think people are just too ashamed to admit it. Its not a "same-old" reality show because the whole thing is an ongoing joke on the "contestants". Loved the guys poem on the bus, cracked me up. And as for the guy who said "it's bloody cold in Russia"... :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: Title: Space Cadets Post by: walrus on Thursday, December 8, 2005, 22:31:46 I bet you lot would all be taken in by it too! Title: Space Cadets Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 12:32:47 What a pile of shite!
I sat up and watched the live feed on C4 last night as I was in a poker tourney and I cannot believe anyone would think they are in a shuttle looking at that. I think they've clocked it as well if they got any more casual and relaxed they'd nod-off. Sideshow bob in all his glory, he 'gave blood' to Gordon Ramsay http://www.reid14.co.uk/spacecadets.jpg You could also say though that 'extras' are exactly the kind of people that want to be on TV by any means. Personally I wouldn't be suprised if it was real and the contestants are thick, or if it was fake and they are all in on it. I just don't see what is gained by the latter. ---------------------------------- --Ways to 'reveal' the truth Star Wars Ending: How about the earth blowing up, then out of the dust clouds and debris comes the Death Star. The DVD release shows the same thing happens again with updated CGI ('special edition). Scooby Doo Ending: The actor blows it and JV enters shaking head and muttering "would have got away with it if it weren't for you meddling actors" Red Dwarf Ending: Normal Lovett appears on screen as Holly, "April, May, June, July and August fool". Space 2001 Ending: "The earth turns into a baby" which apparently signifies something deep and meaning about creationism and sparks years of debate on whether it is genius or plain boring. Planet Of The Apes ending: Martin Keown, Ryan Giggs and Richard Keyes hairly greet the returnees. Italian Job Ending. They pretend the craft has landed teatering on a cliff with the cadets sliding towards the doors. Then one of the russian piolts says " Hangonski Comrades, I've got an Idea". Title: Space Cadets Post by: oxford_fan on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 15:04:43 if they really are falling for it they should send them to 'space' and show the earth blowing up out of the window.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 15:13:55 I said that to my mrs, the pilots should be taken ill, or go out for a space walk and never come back, then they'd think they were up there all alone. now that'd make decent tv.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 16:12:23 I don't know if this has been raised as i haven't read the whole thread. But do you think this may be a wind up on the viewers i.e. they don't really think they're in space, and the whole joke is on the public. It's crossed my mind. That take off was barely believable, no g-force, just a few vibrations. Surely they don't believe this, i think they're in on it.

I guess they save money because they don't really have to go to great lengths to make Ipswich look lile Russia. But some things don't stack up. - Why didn't they film on location in Russia, assuming they got permission? - Why do the 'real' cadets act like they are in on it? Can anyone be that stupid or is the power of suggestion that strong? I won't be suprised either way. I'm kind of enjoying it, but I don't really get the 'joke' - haha, fooled a bunch of twats. So what. Title: Space Cadets Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 20:07:00 I saw that Blood Doner advert earlier, recognized him after OR had mentioned it earlier.
As Dazza said as well, they were too relaxed, the girl especially. And I wouldn't have thought the pilots would have been so chatty etc. I'm pretty sure if I had been on that I would have sussed it ages ago. Title: Space Cadets Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 22:03:50 its obvious isnt it? or at least it should be! they only did 3 weeks training surely you would need a few years? how can channel 4 afford to send them into space? wouldnt it need to be sanctioned by nasa or mea or the european space agency or something? those people are so gullable if you ask me :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Johno on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 22:11:41 i don't see the point in it all personally. its cheap tv that people will watch. win win.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Dazzza on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, 22:57:53 I think chances are C4 have bitten off more than they can chew.
The three chaps that are not actors must know especially after that take-off. It looked tamer than one of those simulators you see at fairs and they all commented on how smooth it was. Plus the fact that they could not look out into space because of that moth makes must have raised suspicions. And even I recognised the gimp at the press conference from MTV. It's either incredibly shite or there's going to be some sort of reality show style charade where one of them goes nuts and eats the others. Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, 12:06:09 Why don't C4 make the pilots go on a fake spacewalk and never return to the shuttle. Then we'll see if they believe it or not.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, 13:01:45 I'm going to track down where it's filmed and do a streak acoss space or the next best thing shout 'bollocks' as loud as I possibly can.
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Northern Red on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, 13:08:46 The screenshot of earth through the windows really helped enforce the illusion
Charlie summed it up "Even though I know that this is not real, everything I'm seeing is forcing my mind to think that it is. I am in space at this moment" I think they'll pull it off, but anything could go wrong... "I stand before Uranus.....begging for admintance....." Childish but fun :D Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, 13:28:38 I'd be going nuts if I was up there and had a view of earth like that. They were just like "oh wow, that's impressive".
Title: Space Cadets Post by: Sussex on Thursday, December 15, 2005, 21:33:28 The losers (the ones that didn't go into 'space') find out the truth now then.

Huuuuge letdown of a program really. It all went wrong when they went into the shuttle for 5 days and did naff all. Zzzzzzzzzzzz Title: Space Cadets Post by: janaage on Monday, December 19, 2005, 10:30:40 They got them to sit in a "pod", just the three morons, not the actor. Then they showed a clip of Jonny Vaughan saying "Hey gang, so you think you're in space...blah blah blah, let's look at some clips to give you some more clues...." then they opened the pod up. And that was it. They each got £25k each, and a trip to the real Star City in Russia where they will go on a zero gravity flight.
What's the fucking point in all of that? Title: Space Cadets Post by: Bedford Red on Monday, December 19, 2005, 17:57:51 After reading that I'm glad I missed it, sounds a really crap ending.
