Erm, haven't read through the longer thread yet but is what you said true... i.e. that relocating nearer our fan base would result in move eastwards towards London?

And on what do you base the fact that the majority of our support hails from London? I find this difficult to believe; based purely on this forum, not one member is based in our capital.

where'd he say that?

london is east, moving east would be towards london. i don't think we're going to groundshare with brentford or anything.

Well, here's the story, and I see NOTHING about a move nearer to London.

Nice one, Dave.

Part of this of course is Devlin putting pressure on SBC.  A good way of showing how urgent the situation is for us, putting the immediate pressure of the loss of STFC as we know it directly in their hands.  Forcing the issue is our best chance of survival in Swindon I'd say.

Trouble is SBC don't care whether we move out of town or not....so its not much of a bargaining chip.

Should we go they'd spin it as a plus....come to Swindon the biggest town in England without a league football team...

Are you going on what the city guy said in this thread Dave?
http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=48955

Think the cockney think is totally made up, certainly doesn't mention anything about it here.

On the local news they mentioned the offer to move out of the borough and 'share with another sport'.  Now call me stupid, but there are no other sports at a high level near enough to Swindon to consider this possible.  THings like Bath rugby are too far and would contravene the FLA rules on franchising surely?

On the other thread it mentions something about sharing a ground like Huddersfield and Reading do,both of who ground share with a rugby club, sounds to me that Bath rugby may come into it.

Moving Bath out of Bath wouldn't be too popular with the egg chasers, but rugby does have something of a franchise culture, certainly moreso than Football, look at 'London' Irish, and 'Richmond' both played at the madejski, 'London' Wasps at Wycombe etc

Didn't Mr D. say it would NOT be towards Newbury, i.e.  not east.

I have no problem sharing with the egg chasers, it is the location of the stadium that is the issue.

I don't know where this 'move toward London' thing has come from, as I dont recall saying that to the reporter from the WDP, but any move to the site offered to the club would not be toward London. I'm sorry that I cannot say more, confidentiality stipulation and all that, but I reiterate that what we really want is to redevelop the CG and stay in Swindon. Perhaps I should never have mentioned the alternative site, but I felt supporters would want to know that there was a potential Plan B.

Mark, is there anyway you could prove that you are in fact Mark Devlin. No offence meant, just would be nice to know it's not some joker. Maybe there's something you could PM to one of the admin's to show you are who you are without it going on here if that's what you want.

No offence taken. I have received a couple of PM's through the admin system and responded accordingly. I was approached at the forum back in October and asked to get onto the message boards as a way of communicating, and my Chairman at QPR was regular on the various messageboards during my time there, which seemed to go down well with most, if not all, fans.

Its great to have somebody here who actually can shed some light on things. The main problem recently was the fact the fans didn't have a clue what was going on!

I look forward to receiving confirmation from admin.

It is a good idea, is that you on thisis and what other Swindon forums are you going on?

i wouldn't bother with any other forums mark, they pale into insignificance in comparison to this one.

Yes, i have also got involved on the thisis MB. I will try to go on the messageboards when I think there is something of interest to say, positive or otherwise, or if I see something that is wildly inaccurate, as I wince at some of the hearsay and gossip I read.

It will be good to hear some news on here. The hearsay and gossip appear because people don't know what's going on and then wild guesses appear from anywhere, so clarification would be helpful.

To be fair mark when you came back I actually commented that it was the best thing to happen in a few years to this club.  Also keep the initiatives up, need the backing of fans end of.

Did you know that about 5 years ago an ex chairman of the club didnt even reply to an email/letter from a gentleman in dubai who had soem investors. If this is an avenue youd be willing to look into please PM me.  Not via me but can put you in touch.
