Title: Bacchus Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:03:22 Been invited out tonight for a mates birthday. He mentioned going to Bacchus in Old Town, I've found it on the net (never knew it existed, apparently attached to Studio).
Ha anyone been there? What can i expect? Title: Bacchus Post by: janaage on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:05:48 Is that the bit that was added to Mission? Apparentley it's a completely seperate place from The Studio now, no access to the other side once you're in. So I've been told.
Not sure if it's any good though. Title: Bacchus Post by: Sippo on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:08:06 I heard it was a 70's and 80's music type of place. Usually I would be tempted but still reminds me of studio. There are much better places to go imo.
Title: Bacchus Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:16:03 Probably right, the map gives the impression it's what was coyote loco back in the day:
http://www.swindonweb.com/bacchus/map.html Sounds like it'll be cool/funky etc on a friday. IE £3 a pint but it should be OK as I get to meet my mate who's back from Amsterdam in Steam first. Title: Bacchus Post by: McLovin on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:25:56 I used to like Coyote...
Title: Bacchus Post by: janaage on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:32:12 Coyote was good when busy, had a few good nights in there. Bit on the small side though.
Title: Bacchus Post by: Onion_Jimbo on Friday, November 25, 2005, 10:56:22 Its a totally seperate place now. I dont think theres even a door connecting them. In mission theres tables and chairs in front of the connecting bit
Title: Bacchus Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, November 25, 2005, 11:09:00 In the late 70's early 80's.....a Greek restaurant called Bacchus opened, in the old Horder shop building, which is now the block of flats right next to the Lawn entrance.
Quite a bit of dosh was spent on doing it up, but Swindon just didn't seem to have the palate for mousaka and souvlaki. It only lasted maybe 18 months/2 years before going bust. Title: Bacchus Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, November 25, 2005, 11:10:02 Pray tell reginald, is Bacchus the greek god of something?

Bacchus was more your Roman God of food and wine.....like the Greek God Dionysus.....Bacchus is a more catchy name, probably because of the Bacchanalian orgy Title: Bacchus Post by: jim on Friday, November 25, 2005, 11:21:30 Quote from: "Reg Smeeton" Quote from: "mattboyslim" Pray tell reginald, is Bacchus the greek god of something? Title: Bacchus Post by: larwood on Friday, November 25, 2005, 16:21:06 Quote Bacchus is a more catchy name, probably because of the Bacchanalian orgy Didn't they [the Greeks/Romans]work themselves up so much during these orgies that they would rip each other to shreds?Especially the women  .Thus the cult was frowned upon as it was so violent and dissipated . Enough rope Reg,hang me with it [as i know i must be wrong:) :-))( Title: Bacchus Post by: jim on Friday, November 25, 2005, 21:03:17 Quote from: "Reg Smeeton" Quote from: "jim" Quote from: "Reg Smeeton" Quote from: "mattboyslim" Pray tell reginald, is Bacchus the greek god of something?
