Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Ralphy on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:47:45 I bought a new Samsung D500 2 weeks ago and when i woke up on sunday morning i found the screen had a big black blotch across it. I'm absolutely gutted cos i love the phone.
I went out saturday night and had alot to drink but can't think how this happened to my phone :? My question is, will Phones 4 U replace it for me? It's not insured and it's pay as you go. Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:48:59 No chance. Sounds like the screen got hit and broke
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: fatbury on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:49:42 just go back to the shop and say its gone funny and u never did nothing to it
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: mattboyslim on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:50:25 If it's water damage or beyond wear and tear, then not a prayer, if it's just broke they have to if it's not a year old.
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: janaage on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:51:00 Phones 4 u are a bunch of fucking cunts, I will never buy another phone from them ever. My phone once broke after about a week I went in there to ask them to change it, and the cocky cunt tried to sell me another phone. Fucking hate that store.
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Ralphy on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:51:54 But i didn't fall over or drop it, i can't think what happened.
It didn't get wet thats for sure. Surely they have to replace faulty goods? Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: fatbury on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:52:48 tell them its faulty .. and u want a new one
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: mattboyslim on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:53:31 If it's broke the law says they do due to europe wide 1 (maybe 2) year guarantee, but if they find the merest bit of liquid they'll refuse in my experience.
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Ralphy on Monday, November 7, 2005, 13:53:50 Ok i'll give it a try.
Will report back in a few hours... Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Dazzza on Monday, November 7, 2005, 14:57:12 D500's are built like tanks, it would have taken some serious damage to cause the screen to go like that.
Mine was completely submerged in 4 inches of watery Glastonbury mud and still works perfectly. Sounds like a dodgy phone to me. Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: RobertT on Monday, November 7, 2005, 15:23:58 Be very careful in your description of what happened. If there is even a hint that it could be because the screen was pushed in, then they will use it to avoid replacing (and by the sounds of it that is what has happened).
If it came boxed then say it was like it when you opened it, just been unable to get back into Town so have used it with the defect until today. Also check that there is no sign of a crack or pressure having been applied to the screen. The fact that you didn't take their insurance will no doubt infuriate them, so you need to stick to your guns and make a public display of petulance if they don't agree. Nothing like putting off the other customers to get your own way. Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Ralphy on Monday, November 7, 2005, 16:02:44 Screen had slight cracking in it, refused to replace it.
Fucking pissed off. Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, November 7, 2005, 16:13:13 You probably banged it when you were pissed. It could be worse, you could have banged some Chinese girl and cheated on your missus!
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: McLovin on Monday, November 7, 2005, 16:16:35 Oh yes, Si Pie, that's magical!

Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Ralphy on Monday, November 7, 2005, 16:57:30 I have no house! I live with my parents!
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, November 7, 2005, 17:01:00 Actually my parents house insurance covers my stuff at uni. Could be worth a good shout. Just persuade the rents to find out for you (and claim)
Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: Dazzza on Monday, November 7, 2005, 17:08:25 Quote from: "Ralphy" I have no house! I live with my parents! Simon is spot on, as you reside with Mater and Pater your contents are equally covered by their house policy so you could claim that way. Thing is though for a couple of hundred quid it may not be worth claiming and screwing up any sort of no claims style bonuses they may have. If you check out the ebay you can get replacement screens easily enough and all of the kit and knowledge you need to do it yourself. Title: Mobile Phone Dilema Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, November 7, 2005, 22:04:41 I know of quite a few people with D500's who have had weird problems, some of my buttons have stopped working but other people have had the screens fuck up as well.
