IT - Terrified me as a kid. Still my favourite horror film. Goodfellas - Ray Liotta running around hurting people and stuff. The Godfather Trilogy - Can't believe nobody has mentioned these! (I know it's 3 but I'm cheating). The Matrix - Original film was amazing. The others were wank. Empire Strikes Back - Fighting in space. Pulp Fiction - Classic Tarantino. Raging Bull - The best boxing film ever. American History X - Great film. Sickening images. A Clockwork Orange - Portrayal of the fucked up society we all live in. Duel - Spielberg's film about a madman truck driver chasing an innocent man. Original film and the idea has been nicked by many other films (especially Jeepers Creepers) Others worth a mention: Columbo: How to dial a murder Training Day Withnail & I Get Carter The Italian Job Swordfish Rocky Jackie Chan's: Who am I? Title: Ten favourite films Post by: Crozzer on Saturday, November 5, 2005, 03:51:32 Some thoughts for some older stuff.
Dr. Stranglove is worth viewing if you haven't seen it. A Japanese movie called Ran is incredible (a cast of thousands, literally). Lawerence of Arabia, the mirage scene is worth seeing the entire movie for. Incredible Lightness of Being (full frontal artistic smut). Bananas, Woody Allen, early stuff really took the piss out of the establishment. Young Frankenstein, the props were the same ones from the Boris Karloff era (apparantly found in a garage), great cast including Marty Feldman, extremely funny. Any Will Hay movie, like "Oh Mr Porter," incredibly old but Will Hay was a comic genius. Catch 22, good rendition of the book's dark humour. Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Black Knight is cinematic history. and finally, The Life of Brian, great gladiatorial, and science fiction, scenes.
