Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:21:13 How much is the insurance on your beloved type-r, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm after a new motor. Either the type-r, golf gti/r32, or the new astra vxr... Title: Ralphy Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:23:58 have to say mate i would love a Golf R32. they are the nuts.
Title: Ralphy Post by: McLovin on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:28:17 they cost a fortune. it's also the most hijacked car in Britain at the moment.
Title: Ralphy Post by: Compo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:31:03 Get an evo/impreza, both are just nuts.....
My old WRX cost me just under a grand a year, but mine was an import, if u got a uk car u can knock of a third!!! Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:31:46 Well i've got around 20k to spend...
Title: Ralphy Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:33:32 Astra VXR

Get a Jap import Scooby or Evo then. for 20k you will find a real sweet motor Title: Ralphy Post by: McLovin on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:35:08 I'd choose any of those but the new shape Golf. They've ruined a classic, IMO
Title: Ralphy Post by: mattboyslim on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:35:51 Leon Cupra top spec and change from 20K
Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:35:54 But how can I turn down that old gold r32. Especially in deep blue!!

Title: Ralphy Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:37:28 Quote from: "stfcfan" But how can I turn down that old gold r32. Especially in deep blue!! it does look good i agree. how much are they? not having the money i've not looked Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:42:29 You can get a two year old one for about 16k. Insurance is £686.
Title: Ralphy Post by: mattboyslim on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:44:30 for 20K you could get a jag e type, or any modern and scarcely used exec cruiser like a jag, BMW or Merc, get an old 850 BMW, super quick for 20K you can get a totally mint one, much cooler than the golf.
Title: Ralphy Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:44:31 whats your age etc stfcfan,
Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:45:43 25...been driving 7 years, 3 points
Title: Ralphy Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:47:55 don't know why but i was expecting you to say 18 and only just passed your test.
have you looked at the Scoobies or Evo's on Jap imports?? or you not interested in those? Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:49:48 Had a look at Scooby doo's but the insurance is too much. Nearly a grand for a 3 year old one.
Not too keen on imports tbh. Golf's are reliable, it looks good, should get a good deal on my car now... Title: Ralphy Post by: Compo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:50:22 I think the new Golf will be called an R36
http://www.3harts.nl/golfV/ Title: Ralphy Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:51:25 i prefer the look of the old ones tbh
Title: Ralphy Post by: mattboyslim on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 15:52:03 That's nice, much prefer the MK5 the MK3 and 4 were both a bit soft, the new one's are the niceset sinc ethe MK2 IMHO, aggressive and angry looking.
Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 16:09:50 I pay £1200 a year on an 05 plate Type R.
I'm 24 with 3 years NCB and a clean licence. Type R is very expensive to insure, group 17, a Ferrari or Aston Martin is 20. That should give you an idea. Not just the buying and insuring you have to think about mind. I pay £140 a tyre, and a set of front tyres lasts on average 9-12k miles. It needs an oil change every 6-12k miles plus regular top ups cos of it's high reving nature. You should allways use fully synthetic oil in a Type R too, preferbly 0W-30, 0W-40 or 5W-40. I have test driven the new Golf GTi and it is a very nice car but it's a different animal to the Type R. The Golf is a fair bit heavier and 'floats' around corners where as the Type R glides. Performance wise there is nothing between them, both do 0-60 in 6.6 secs and 0-100 in 16 secs. For a grown up GTi with lots of toys and luxury, get the Golf. For raw, edge of the seat thrils, get the Type R. The Type R is a real driver's car and you have to work it but god it's fun. Hope that helps. Title: Ralphy Post by: McLovin on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 16:15:06 I love driving my Dad's Type R... makes me smile
Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 16:16:35 What colour has he got Blackcurrant?
The VTEC howl is evil  Title: Ralphy Post by: McLovin on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 16:18:32 Black, like it should be.
Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 16:19:11 Urgh no, Cosmic Grey is the colour to have
Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 16:53:56 I know about the tyres. I have low profiles now so cost a packet which isn't a great shock.
I'm gonna sit down go through the brochures, and get a few test drives! Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:17:10 Have you considered the new DC5 Integra Type R?
Has same engine as Civic Type R but with 220 bhp not 200 bhp. Can get them brand new on import only. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y153/Ralphy-Boy/TEGR.jpg Title: Ralphy Post by: McLovin on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:24:47 i love them!
Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:27:58 ugly...i don't like.
Not sure what the 206 GTI180 is like either. Mabe worth a look? Title: Ralphy Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:29:40 I like Civic Type-R's, Golf's and I don't really mind Impreza's but that car is fucking horrid Ralph.
Might be biased as I used to work with a lad who drove one and he was such a wanker it was unbelievable. Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:30:25 STAY AWAY FROM THE 206 GTi 180.
Big let down. All the car magazines slate it. I advise you to buy a magazine called Evo. It's the best performance car mag on sale. Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:32:31 Nah Sonic 'tegs are the nuts.
Real hardcore driver's car. Tiff Needall and Clarkson love em. You will be hard pushed to find a better handling front wheel drive car. Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:32:44 This one?
http://www.lynxmotors.co.uk/grafix/evo.jpg Title: Ralphy Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:33:24 wasn't questioning the performance mate, just think the way it looks screams out "I have a small cock and I'm going to drive like a total cunt".
Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:34:26 Quote from: "sonicyouth" I have a small cock and I'm going to drive like a total cunt. i better not get one then :) Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:35:06 Yes thats the mag stfcfan, i have been getting it every month for 4 years now. Fantastic magazine.
Sonic, it's not as 'in yer face' as an Impreza or Evo. Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 17:41:14 If you just want a fast car and not fussed about loads of toys then consider this...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y153/Ralphy-Boy/trophy.jpg Renaultsport Clio Trophy Only £13,800 182 bhp 1080 kg so very quick Title: Ralphy Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 19:18:49 My sister's fiance had a 182. Very quick.
If you like sitting in laybys waiting for the AA, buy a vauxhall! Title: Ralphy Post by: Sade on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 20:16:38 Ralph should definately be a car salesman :D He knows everything about cars.I now know the difference between a civic type R and the sport civic 8)
Title: Ralphy Post by: pumbaa on Thursday, November 3, 2005, 20:32:47 Now me's thinking one of these might be in order when I get back

Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Friday, November 18, 2005, 14:27:10 Well, I've jsut been for three test drives. The old r32, the new r32 and a TT. Didn't like the TT one bit- a womens car in my opinion. The new r32 was a very very nice car but felt it was too plasticy, the old r32 is much nicer. More of an animal.
Going to the Honda garage soon... Title: Ralphy Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, November 18, 2005, 14:33:42 Quote from: "mattboyslim" Leon Cupra top spec and change from 20K Here here, that's an awesome car. I know someone who was going on about importing a Supra  Title: Ralphy Post by: Dazzza on Friday, November 18, 2005, 15:01:33 Finally I can contribute to a motor thread.
I made a decision on my first motor and after much deliberation I'm getting one of these nuggets after Christmas... http://www.coburnhoods.co.uk/graphics/cars/lotus%20elan.jpg Only slightly tart’s car-esque and as it just scrapes in as a classic car it's cheap as chips to insure. Jut have to fucking pass that test now. Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Friday, November 18, 2005, 19:27:37 stfcfan, would you like an 'extended test drive' in my Type R?
When taking a dealer demo car out you never really get to explore the car's full potential. Dazzza, nice Lotus Elan. Rear wheel drive fun. Title: Ralphy Post by: Sippo on Monday, November 21, 2005, 12:44:18 Would be very tempted kind sir. It'll probably be after xmas if thats ok.
Title: Ralphy Post by: Ralphy on Monday, November 21, 2005, 13:11:40 Yer thats fine, wait till the roads are dry.
