Don't know who was responsible but weren't we the first league club to get floodlights?

Can't help with the answer, but this says we were the first club to get floodlights, not sure whether it's accurate though.

The story goes that Headington had an early set of lights, which consisted of students surrounding the pitch with bikes fitted with dynamoes, they put them into a neutral gear and pedalled furiously for the 90 minutes.

We played a friendly and were impressed by the illumination, and so had a proper set erected...Headington were unable to make that step until they entered the league some years later.

I seem to remember Aldershot had an early claim, but to be fair I may just have dreamt that.
