I'd say 21 is a bit low OJ....... :old: 25 would be better.

Everyone of my kids mates who've passed their test early have had some sort of smash within the first year of driving.

I think 17 is ok to learn to drive but don't agree with kids passing their test and then getting a Ferrari off daddy for their 18th birthday.

Until 21 you should be limited to a certain power or engine size.

If i had of got a Type R when i was 17 i'd be dead by now.  You learn more about driving in your first few years than any other time.

The Aussie 'P' plate system is the one that they're looking at...

This lowers provisional age to 16 (bad idea), but raises non-provisional age to 18.
'P' plate rules including engine limits, only one passenger and no loud music or something

I think it's a good idea too  :old:

i'd say there's a bigger problem with chavs than rich kids when it comes to driving.

I think young drivers should be made to drive convertibles, so that they can hear helpful comments from other more experienced road users, such as "get off the road you fucking useless prick !!!" and other such valuable pieces of advice.

Convertibles without rollbars, airbags or seatbelts - that way they'll be more careful about making mistakes and if they're crap we don't have to worry about them ever again

Chavs in Nova's are a problem yes but Tarquin in his dad's BMW M3 can also be a prick.

Once they have passed their test, dirvers should also have to take a course of lessons on motorway driving before being given their full licence.  People just do not have a clue how to drive on motorways. They just sit in the middle lane like effing mongs.

It makes my blood boil

Everyone should take 5 hours lessons and retake their test ever 2 years as quite a lot of experienced drivers are completely rubbish at driving

They are trying to change the bike ages
Maybe you've heard about this -
"the Third EU Driving Licence Directive will mean that the minimum age for riding motorcycles over 125cc rises from 17 to 19 and the age level for direct access to a larger machine rises from 21 to 24 "
(from the BMF site)
This is due in 5 years - load of bollocks - gobshite Swedes!

you can drive an 11kw (14.6bhp) bike up to 125cc at 17 having taken your CBT - at the moment

regards
Ronald

the worst drivers without doubt are pensioners, many seem to be completely oblivious to what is going on around them.i have seen them pulling out of junctions without looking, driving up roads the wrong way, sitting in the middle lane of motorways doing about 40mph (though women do this also),going through red lights while children were crossing, reversing back down a motorway exit slip road,i could go on.the pensioners are closely followed by the citroen saxo morons and white van drivers.

I know what you mean but stereotyping people because of their age or vechicle is wrong.

For example BMW drivers have a bad reputation but i know a few and their alright, asher for example.

People think cos i drive a Type R i want to race them and do 120 mph down the motorway

I know the capabilities of the car but using them to the limit on a public road would be insane. Hence why i do track days where you REALLY learn how to drive. Driving round a corner at 80-90 mph with a Lamborgini in your rear view mirror makes you realise how important a rear view mirror is. The amount of people who rarely use their mirrors is shocking.

i have witnessed drivers of all ages doing crazy things just those i mentioned i've seen do it more than others.forgot to mention the prestige car drivers that cut across all 3 lanes at the last second to exit the motorway also the tailgaters who flash their lights although you are overtaking yourself.and the arssholes who drive with their fog lights on all the time cause the think it looks cool"dick heads"

Really?!

I haven't seen many guys driving passats.

I find angry dad's in people carriers funny, they drive up my bumper looking to overtake in frustration that they can't have a sports car cos they have 3 kids and a wife :soapy tit wank:
