Title: Without trying to be controversial...
Post by: Amir on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, 00:30:45
I don't think I really want England to qualify for the World Cup.

I've always wanted England to win before, it's just I've grown to quite like Germany and the Germans, and I can't stand the thought of thousands of our fans acting like complete cunts over there.  Simply because it is Germany, you'll have every lad who thinks he's a hooligan over there throwing plastic chairs, fighting with local turks, and being obnoxious to the natives.  I don't see that as a way to visit a place myself, maybe I'm just old fashioned.

I haven't even really got a particular problem with hooliganism, although that's a different discussion.  It more that I struggle to comprehend why people would actually act that way, rather than seeing what a place was like.

I love my country very much, and therefore I see it through very cynical eye, looking at all it's flaws.  I know our fans are tarnished with a bad reputation and will always be scrutinized and critisized much quicker.  But I think there must be a cultural problem in this country to make so many people act in that way.

Can't keep hold of the ball anyway, and you'll never succeed at international level unless you can.

That's odd, two Amir's and they both don't want England to qualify.  It's a conspiracy damnit.

I maintain there's nothing wrong with a bit of hooliganism, as long as it doesn't go too far and is between people who actually want it!

If you are born on one of the bases you are technically British born not German you'll be pleased to hear.

I went out there on a school trip in 1998 (the week after the World Cup Final) and we beat the German kids who were at the hostel we were in 3-2 in a footy match... We were 2-0 down.

To this date it remains one of happiest moments of my life thus far... I'll get my coat.

We played the German exchange students in the back garden of the then manager of Bayern Munich(Ottmar Hitzfeld), needless to say we hammered them in our England shirts. :beers:

Then again, the 5-1 was the most I've ever enjoyed watching a game on the TV :D   I just wish some people could stop making us look such cunts abroad.

The Polish are pricks mind, I hope we do them :soapy tit wank:

The thing about that 5-1 game was Germany were awful, that had to be their worst side for years, which of course was a great shame.

I was in a pub in the City Centre of Edinburgh. The Jocks had just drawn 0-0 with Croatia (I think) in their qualifier. I went to the Betty Boo for a Pat Cash and this Jock started talking to me. 'Ah well mate, at least we'll get to see the Germans hammer they sassenachs'. I only wish I had seen that cunts face at full time!  :beers:

Slightly off subject but the term sassenach (sp) was originally used for describing southern Scots, not English.  Borderers or at least People living south of Edinburgh were the sassenachs!

If yuo've recorded the England v Germany match the 5-1 match, listen to Alan Hansen's comments at the start, he called it.  He basically ripped the germans defence apart and stated if they play like this England will kill 'em, and kill 'em they did.

Saying that it could quite easily have ended up 7-4, dreadful defending!!
