I'm guessing there is a tube at Brentford?  I'll be in London Friday to Sunday...

I am working in Brentford at the moment. There is no tube station, though the piccadilly line passes to the north (Boston Manor and Northfields stations). There is a mainline railway station, but the best bet is probably tube or silverlink to Gunnersbury, and then bus.

Alternatively, tube to Chiswick then bus, as the pubs in Chiswick are quite nice.

I was going to go by train, but given all the fannying about I think I'll just drive down - it's much easier.

Exactly the rule is no matter where your going in the country you get there for opening.Its the law and should not be broken,the same as you have to drink cans at the station no matter what time you catch the train. 8)

Yep totally agree, before leaving for the Train to O*ford for the cup game a few years back, i went round my mates house for some 7:30am Cans of Lager. :beers:

Futhermore, if your going to London get there around 40 mins before 11. Then you can afford to get lost on the underground (mix up east and west) AND STILL knock on the door at 11!  :beers:

That Oxford game was weird. How did the Broadwalk get open so early? On our train everyone had met there before hand (except us). I only had one can before that game. Absolute disaster. The mistake will never be made again. Next time Il do a Spuddy style early one just like they do in Glasgow on Old Firm day.

Well we knew we wouldnt get a drink in Pox so we had a few at my mates gaff and then a couple on the Train, it was quite weird seeing so many Town fans drinking at that time in one place.

The Old Firm games kick off dead early now on a sunday to try and avoid trouble. The weegie police are apparently very strict with folk drinking on the streets so I am not sure what I am going to do for the Sellick v Hearts game on saturday week.  :roll:  Avoiding being spat on by dirty weegie bastards I guess will be my main aim!

Loads of pubs open secretly from 7am. Both clubs have hundreds of affiliated bars across Glasgow and the whole region. Word of mouth but very hush hush.

To be fair though having the two sets of supporters drinking away hidden in their own supporters clubs cannae be the worst thing for Strathclyde police. Its open bars where the supporters mix that cause the trouble, and at 11am on a sunday of them there are few!

Course they all go on bash each other afterwards of course. Glasgow city centre gets shut down.

I can't even begin to imagine the atmosphere at an old firm game. The Edinburgh derby can be pretty tasty but nothing compared to the Old Firm I would imagine.

Thing with the old firm is that both sets of supporters are spoilt on success. If the game is tight and the fans are nervous it can be pretty quiet in the ground. Neither side can face loosing. As soon as either team takes the lead it goes nuts.

Whereas something like the Edinburgh derby the fans just go at it never mind the game cos they are used to having to actually support the team rather than just 'sing when ur winnin' as it were.

Good point Spencer. Although at the final whistle in this season's derby there was hardly any Hobos left! Probably because they were dicked!

Annoyingly, there is a good chance that I may not get a ticket for Easter Road later this month due to demand, even though I have a season ticket. 11,000 into 3,000 just won't go!
