Title: MK Reaction
Post by: Kinky Tom on Saturday, October 1, 2005, 16:14:36
Well, again we were a shambles at the back, first two MK goals were individual mistakes, the other was just a complete all out balls up.

I'm gutted, 7 in a row, 5 points adrift - had a chance to go two up and blew it.

I don't really even know what to write.

No, but I'll be listening.

I know Sandy Gray will be there but you'd imagine they'd ask Mark Devlin to field some of the questions.... please.

I heard on the radio today that he'll be devoting 25% of his time to Swindon, the rest to Dunwoody Marketing.

I keep thinking about next saturday.

Might join my mates in the pub for the England game. Paying £23 to be depressed is losing it's shine.

Saying that, i will probally end up going, haven't missed a home game for years.

I have no fucking clue how Heath is on the books at Manchester United

You cant play a midfield where everyone is 20 or under!

I'm confused. We were so much better at Donny.

Throughout the first half we dominated totally, looked pretty sharp and Franchise didn't threaten us at all much whilst we had a great deal of the posession without really doing too much with it.

As soon as they scored, our heads dropped - once the second goal went in, we couldn't get out of own half. The confidence is clearly very delicate and we've simply got to improve before the gap at the bottom gets even bigger.

Sadly I don't think Iffy's upto it, two games and no points. In his defence, he has only had a few days of training so perhaps the impact he intended is yet to emerge.

The only way is up.

shit game, never looked like scoring after the 1st goal. heath is fucking rubbish! waste of space. the only one to come out with any credit was patrick collins, i thought he was suberb. well, the best i've seen him play so far anyway.

final ball was always too slow & players still dont look like they're 'clicking', always in eachothers way etc

too many players that clearly dont give a fuck about this club. get rid of the loanees then see how we play. i dont think the 1 year contracts help matters either coz most of the players can just walk at the end of this season if we go down.

my mate pretty much sumed things up at the end of the game when he said, "watching swindon at the moment is agony. watching the club you love slowly dying, it fucking depressing. like having a close relative on life-support & your just waiting for someone to press the switch."

maybe thats a bit over an over-reaction, but it was depressing stuff today, especially after the excitement at the start of the week.

lets hope its iffy can turn it round in time for port vale.

What channel is the England game on? I can't go to the pub as we are playing at the same time as the Jocks, and if their game is on BBC Scotland and the England game is also on BBC, I am up shit creek without a fly swat.

There were a few players out there who simply couldn't be fucked.

So, Collins, Heath, Nicolau (later on), Nicholas, Cureton... get shot of them.

Thorpe was at least putting the effort in, unlike Cureton who came on and did nothing.

McDermott was shocking, Heath was awful.

Christian Roberts is the way forward

That was quite simply the worst yet and you all said King was to blame!!!

We looked unorganised and a total shambles against a very poor MK team.

particularly bad were Collins, McDermott, Pook and Thorpe

Im wondering what the hell can be done to be honest ..... I had a great weekend in MK in spite of that

Excellent skiiing ... good atmosphere from the away fans ... great night out .. fabulous meal at TGI's

 :beers:

I didn't think that McDermott was too bad, after all, he was covering 2 positions as yet again Pook was crap (sorry all those Pook fans).

IMO Those who played well (ish) were:

Heaton: Ok, he made a mistake for the second, but it could have easily been 6-1 without him.

Collins: Played well against Mcleod (who was consistently fouling him), has been our best central defender this year (FACT!)

Fallon: Great, never gave up.

Smith: Thought that he played well, although I saw the replay of there first goal yesterday and he could have done better and chasing back.

A point to note as well is that all of the above players came up to the away end and clapped us the fans afterwards, which IMO counts for a lot and shows there commitment to the team.

Pook should be dropped, he's been selected for every match since he broke into the side, maybe droppinghim would give him a kick up the back side.

Having said that I wasn't there on Saturday should really keep my criticism to myself.

Drop Pook.

I'm refusing to push the panic button just yet. Devlin has only just returned and will bring some much needed leadership off the park. On it, give Iffy a chance to change the lay of the land. King had been around for a fair old while and Iffy has a few habits to break.

It's craps to be on such a long losing streak but it's still early enough for us to turn things around.

I cant see us getting out of this one .... all we can do is look to the future and build a side to get us going again .. hopefully for this year but if not then next year .. AND THAT DOESNT INCLUDE LOAN PLAYERS!!

To that end i think Collins, McDermott, Heath, Gurney shouldnt be picked ahead of our own squad players when possible .. Especially as they havent exactly been successful!

That leaves our first team with the following 4-4-2 side (when all are fit!)

Evans
Smith O'Hanlon Ifil Nicholas
Shakes Migz Whalley Nicolau
Fallon Roberts

Replacements:- Bulman Comyn-Platt Cureton Jenkins Pook Thorpe

Reaction from my mates:

Quote

Got to say Tom I'd be gutted if I was a Swindon fan.  Dons were absolutely shocking first half, and with a bit more decisiveness from Swindon, the game could have been over by half time.

Second half we were mildly better, but three - one is flattering to say the least.

and:

Im not sure who played worse the Dons in the first half or Swindon in the 2nd!!

I'm afraid it's not 'end of' Heaton is a better keeper - that's the truth.

Just because you knew him as a kid doesn't mean you're 'cheating' on him by liking someone else.

Heaton is miles better than Evans, Rhys' positioning has been awful and he never commands his area.
