Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: fatbury on Monday, September 26, 2005, 11:52:57 Another example of an inept board - sacking a manager when they have given him no resources or way forward for the club in order to sell it to new players. You can blame King if you like but I think he did an excellent job with the tools he was given. To replace him with someone within who has no experience at a time when the club is struggling as a whole is tantamount to football suicide. Onoura will stuggle and not last that many games - I predict in 3 or 4 games, i mean DEFEATS, time the fans will be calling for a new manager. Thats when they will dish out a manager such as Bobby Gould or Alan Ball - someone else cheap who they can appoint with no thought.
I had continued to follow the town despite some early poor results hoping that Kingy would turn it around .. without him there is no chance of that happening and Im not sure Ill be visiting so regularly from now on. The board needs to have a hard look at what they are trying to achieve and start by appointing a half decent chief executive as Sandy Gray is alienating supporters against it with her ineptitude at the job. It is simply TOO MUCH MONEY to watch and yet I see no initiatives to help any supporters through this. Obviously I want the club to do well but I find it hard to support a manager who is obviously just an easy choice .. so expect me to be the first one to call for his head ... for the record I never called for Andy King to be sacked EVER Unhappy Swindon fan! :( Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 26, 2005, 11:54:58 Andy King was the easy choice when he was appointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fan base is down and the crowd divided.
The board were pressured by the fans to try something, but had to do it for free. Iffy/Reeves/Woan were the only options. I too worry Iffy won't have the contacts to bring in players and change things come January. On the flip side at least we won't bicker with each other.... Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: Piemonte on Monday, September 26, 2005, 11:59:52 Fabury - King had done the hard part and assembled a decent squad with no money. He has fallen down an his tactical and motivational skills. His time has come.

So Iffy's in charge for a while, so what. I'm hoping least he won't be playing 1 up front and maybe it'll breed a little confidence, dawn of a new era and all that kinda thing. Well here's hoping anyway! Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: Foggy on Monday, September 26, 2005, 13:04:10 AK did all he could with the very limited resources that were made available. How many of you cheered when Colin Todd/Roy Evans were appointed? and look at the mess they left behind. Kingy didnt always get it right but he was always 100% behind the club.
The players need to take a look at their performances and ask themselves if they have helped the situation . I cant say that im overly excited about Iffys position but who else would want to come to Swindon :? Maybe they should have sacked the never present Mr Carson and not the man who always wore his heart on his sleeve and gave his all for STFC. C'mon gentlemen ! Think that there is alot of bollocks going around here ! So how many of you wouldn't have taken your employer to court if you felt you were wrongfully dismissed ? How many of you wouldn't take a pay rise and move to another company if you were ambitious ? Think about what you are saying before you post it. This is a bloke livelihood not just some flight of fancy ! NMH Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 26, 2005, 13:21:03 I take that on board NMH, but I got the impression he wouldn't have taken any job given it's individual merits - he would have just taken ANY job .
There's a few managers around who have chosen to stay put - Kingy would have rejected that idea out of hand. Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: McLovin on Monday, September 26, 2005, 13:27:18 Anyone who says Kingy wasn't passionate about Swindon Town is very very wrong.
Title: Unhappy at Sacking of King / New Appointment /The Board Post by: Piemonte on Monday, September 26, 2005, 13:36:46 He had plenty of passion and a comendable work rate. Sadly for king this was not enough.
I think its unfair to have a go at him for "working for himself" rather than love of the club. Unless a hardcore fan is appionted manager (elections via the TEF  ) this will always be the case. We have not got crap players anyway, this squad we have is just as good as seasons past and could reach the play offs once more. If you have the type of players we have, and are second bottom in league one, then the manager is not getting the best out of them and IMO that was certainly the case with king. I will completley back iffy now and believe that we can avoid relegation. All the best to king but his time has definatley come.
