Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: janaage on Monday, September 26, 2005, 08:50:49 Were they injured on Saturday or just dropped. Saw them both walking outside the ground about 5 minutes before kick off just having a chat.
So were they dropped? Apologies for my lack of knowledge of the goings on in the treatment room. Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: le god cuervo on Monday, September 26, 2005, 08:52:18 just dropped i think, didnt hear any injury news either.
Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 26, 2005, 08:58:13 They were involved in the 'warm down' after the match according to the radio, so I assume they were just deemed not good enough to warrant even a place on the bench.
Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: janaage on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:06:44 Fucks sake, if that's true that's a terrible call. Shakes looks very dangerous when coming on as sub, can't believe he wasn't on the bench.
Who was on the bench - Roberts - Cureton - Bullman - Mc Dermott and ??? Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: le god cuervo on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:08:51 and heath (came on for whalley).
i dont see the point in having a sub keeper anymore, especially when its someone like bulman. bradford didnt bother on saturday & a lot of teams dont. worth the risk I'd say. Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: janaage on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:10:50 Oh yeah heath. So we had two strikers and two midfielders. No wide men at all.
On a different note I thought Nicho played alright on Saturday by the way. Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:11:45 Indeed, both games Nicho has played this season he has looked much better than he did last season.
Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:15:51 Excuse my stupidity, so was Nicho LB and Jack Smith RB? How did that look?
Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:18:31 That's right Ed. Looked OK, but Smith on the left seems dangerous as he seems to cut inside very easily and often gets a decent shot in - didn't get a good cross in really.
Nicho put the cross in for Rory's first, and layed it back to Pook for him to tee up Rory's second. Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:26:23 Some notes of promise then? Hopefully the new manager can strengthen our defence which has been a shambles for ages! Do we still leave players unmarked at the back post?
Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Sade on Monday, September 26, 2005, 09:57:02 Ricky shakes and all his family and also Nicolau were sat a couple of rows behind me 8)

Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Leggett on Monday, September 26, 2005, 12:17:02 the way i saw it, smith was LB, ifil CB and collins RB, with nicho LW in a 5-man midfield...
Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Kinky Tom on Monday, September 26, 2005, 12:20:06 Nah, deffo a 3-5-2 with Smith and Nicho as the wing backs.

Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Mark Hanrahan on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, 12:58:50 Quote from: "Kinky Tom" Nah, deffo a 3-5-2 with Smith and Nicho as the wing backs. For the first time in a very, very long while I'm geniunely stumped as to what our best XI would be. I'd like to see 4-4-2 with the pacy Nicolau and Shakes given a run and Migs and Whally pulling the strings in a ball-playing midfield. That said, I'd also like to see Thorpe and Cureton given a proper run WITH Fallon in a front three. Then there's the debate at the back. Who do you choose?! With Kingy gone, the slate is clean! Although we're still a tough midfielder short. Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Kinky Tom on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, 13:08:40 Indeed Mark - with the players we have there are many, many options in terms of formations.
I think we should choose one and stick with it, for my money a straight forward 4-4-2 is the way to go, we have the wingers to go with it, and a variety of players that can be stuck in the middle. I think King was absoultely desparate for a three of Pook, Migz and Whalley to work, but ultimately none of the three were willing to commit to getting forward enough, so it failed. I think it's a given that Fallon's name is the first on the sheet and needs someone to play off him, at the start of the season a possible 3 of him Curo and Thorpe sounded fantastic, but we'd be ever-so narrow and would be taken to pieces. Yep, 4-4-2 for me. Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: le god cuervo on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, 13:23:10 i was just thinking, when iffy was playing here most of his success came while playing up front with ndah & with walters & gooden out wide.
does this mean we'll see a return of the big man/fast man pairing (ie. fallon & roberts), with 2 decent wingers out wide to get crosses in? maybe with roberts dropping off a bit into the "number 10" role like ndah did. just a thought.... Title: Shakes and the Cypriot Post by: Kinky Tom on Tuesday, September 27, 2005, 13:26:17 Here's hoping lgc!
