Any news on next seasons kits as Port Vales home shirt is selling like hot cakes with over a 1000 sold within 24 hours.

Surely even Man Utd don’t  get sales like that.    Sounds bullshit to me.

Fanbase may be horrible but ahead of the game with the kit launch and seemingly doing good business.

It's good marketing and timing, random football club shirts are super fashionable now and they've launched it ahead of the summer festivals. I have a few mates who have no opinion on Vale who I could definitely see buying one.

Yep, red/white/red is our traditional kit. Don't hate the red shorts, but much prefer the white...

Rumour doing the rounds I've read is that most of the new kit will be sold online by Pro Direct so they can recoup the money owed to them

Same as Shaun takes me back to the mid/late 70’s when I first started watching Town but vaguely remember us wearing black shorts at some stage.

We wore black shorts for 2 seasons between 72 and 74.

A grim period in the history of the club, unsuccessful managers were McKay and Allen.  Disintegration of the League Cup winning team occurred, with inevitable relegation ensuing.  So, black shorts are not a good idea.

Think I'm going to design my own shirt this year. It'll feature red, white, a smidge of green and a dash of orange. It will also feature my own abortion of the deprecating club logo as seen on the TEF and two fake sponsors. Will probably look sick af or it'll look like someone threw up on it or even worse, it might look like some form of Wales kit. Still, money more well spent than putting it into the hands of Anthony {I don't know} Fuck Hall

In fact, for a bit of fun {because if we can't laugh then we're all fucking crying} I might even make two and give one away on here, along with some beers again, linked to some form of sweepstake. Probs be like 5 quid a pop, with the winner also getting half the cash and the other half going to a relevant charity. As well as the beer and the beautiful shirt

Only condition/requirement of the winner is, they have to wear the shirt at the first home league game of the new season or pictured at home watching the match in their shirt and preferably opening a tin of beer too  :D

This would align with the separate table (and separate pay point) in the club shop for shirt sales at the end of the season. ProDirect won’t trust the club to pay on time or at all, perhaps.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy. There's nothing to buy, therefore the club makes no money, therefore they're right.

Clem resents paying for kit clearly - we saw a lot of reducing Puma debt and putting bloody kangaroos on kit in the early days with the AB slideshows... but we're expected to believe that 10 year kit deals ending a year early and the new supplier selling kit on folding tables like the Dudley Boyz on a market stall is normal business.

There was an interview a few weeks back with Joe Gorman of Exeter (average attendances in L1 very similar to ours) where he said they make £600k on merchandise a year... but 80% of that is in brick and mortar sales in person, impulse buys... and only 20% online. Pro-Direct taking over the selling of kit online when they have a bigger distribution makes sense, but they could have actual proper opening hours or rent a space in the town centre as well (Newport County do this and their shopping centre is walking distance from RP) and still make a massive profit! You should be trying to get an extra £10 out of every person through your gates, every game - getting a glossy photo of your favorite player or a DanDesigns ain't doing it either. Where's the pens, pencils, my beloved pencil case, enamel badges and keyrings, Ivo style collector cards... the man don't give  a f-

I see Si Ferry is in town, hinted as part of the away kit launch. Someone here said it was blue and white, perhaps similar to the white and blue adidas kit he played in when here.

You'd expect something before Saturday in regards to away kit launch.

That was a great kit. Some people didn't like it because the yellow reminded them of Oxford....get a life, the only team it should remind you of is Boca Juniors...

I didn't mind it, that's guess work on what it'll be , but would make sense with Ferry being in Town.

I liked the Boca style one, that plain white with light blue trim posted above is nice but I'd rather closer to the Boca purely on a 'might I buy it' point of view.

If I bought a white shirt it would be doomed from the second I put it on for obvious reasons...

I mostly like to buy 2nd or 3rd kit offerings as they're usually a bit more inspiring and when I wear them behind the bar they get more interest so a better talking point.

Edit - don't think Ive bought a home shirt for over 20 years actually.  Think the 03/04 one.

I personally like the colours, not a huge fan of the templates but it's a clean, smart kit which I think will probably sell well.

The one good thing is we won't have Jimmy wittering on about when the kit is going to be released every 5 minutes.

Good: Nice video, good reveal, smart colours, including Ferry a clever touch

Not so good: No diversity in the group pic so far, a kit shrouded in controversy over the P/O final kit choice - remember some v awkward calls back in the day.

Overall, a good kit - shows how far down the pecking order the club website is with no mention of it.

Does anyone buy shorts? I get buying a shirt but who buys a full kit for anyone aged over 10?

I buy shorts and socks occasionally, not at full price, but in the end of season clearance. I play football 2/3 times a week

Fair enough on sale I guess, I'd just buy generic shorts of the colour as they're hardly branded anyway.

This - so for example the only kit I’ve bought in its entirety since I was over the age of about 10 is the purple third kit from a couple of seasons back but have never worn it all together…

I got the whole illuminous yellow/green goalkeeping kit in clearance, haven't worn it altogether yet. I might just do it one game for the crack  :D

Fleetwood have a reasonable amount of white on their red home shirt. I'm guessing that'll be the first outing in time for Christmas.

I don't think there is anyone else we would even need to wear it against and even then its a push. If we draw Doncaster in the FA cup maybe.

Ok why a hark back to a season that ultimately did nothing? And in fact it actually reminds me more of our 10/11 away kit than the 09/10 kit. And that is a season I never want to be reminded of thanks.

Surely if they wanted to do something pay homage to a period of success it should have been the black & red of the 11/12 season.

Someone probably looked for anyway it was like anything we've previously had. Bit like when they tried to claim a kit was a nod to our premier league season and it had a black fucking trim and no collar.

In fairness - it did have the swirl pattern which was extremely similar & something we’ve never had on a kit in between those two…

The swirl pattern was identical to the Prem kit which made it all the more puzzling why they didn't finish it off with white trim/button up collar etc and went with black instead. Didn't like that kit at all...
