Title: Colchester Away 23/24
Post by: Sippo on Thursday, June 22, 2023, 08:46:12
Think it will be a good following for our first away game of the season.

Is it 'trainable'?

If not what's it like for parking?

One of the most easiest of grounds to park, more spaces than cars.
A distance from the station but still OK.

Destest the soulless shit hole.
No cash policy and you book tickets on their club portal.

shittest away game on the calendar.

At least it's done and dusted early. I've been twice to that place, I almost certainly won't bother again.

I assume you haven't been to Barrow, and that's from someone who is only about 20 miles away from there!  :D

I haven't actually. Might have to make the effort just to decide once and for all.

I wouldn't bother, I've been to a fair few non league grounds over the years and this was probably up there with the worst, the weather didn't help albeit even in lovely sun I wouldn't have been able to see the goal at our end and would have still be unnecessarily intimate with my neighbouring supporter!

Went to Colchester last season. Lots of building going on next to the (soulless) stadium. I would imagine it’s going to be more like the Northampton situation than the concrete wilderness it has been up until now.

Last time i went there was in the Garner season. Didn't we throw away a 1-0 lead against 9 men? Good times.

Ardiles Jnr Mk I was desperate to go to the first game.  Tried to get me to promise yesterday that we would go there wherever it was.

I've looked it up now.  437 miles each way.  That's a no.

Often referred to as being at the end on britain's longest cul-de-sac, the a590.

It's so true.  Right up there (almost) with Penzance & Campbeltown.

Better than Colchester. Has character, Colchester is absolutely shite from all angles.
Almost up there with FGR.

Agreed

Colchester's has absolutely no redeeming features at all. When the term "Souless" is used for football grounds their stadium is the benchmark, give me a ground like Barrow, Harrogate any day instead

Ive been many times but usually midweek.

Did a train trip once and did park and ride from town centre, nightmare getting a bus back.

Loads of parking.

We always lose there.......
